Thank you SO much for the detail and hard effort you put into every review, Stahly! It was thanks to your initial review of six Dipping Inks that made me take the plunge and order from GSW just a few days ago, to start me on my journey into miniature painting. With the high res chart you've provided, I now have the confidence to select from not only the GSW range but also maybe (maybe) the Citadel range too (although the value for money just isn't there, IMO! 💸) Looking forward to your future videos, too!

I would be curious to see if and how they work in an airbrush. It says on the store page that they're made for paint brush use, but not for airbrush, but I haven't been able to figure out why or how they would behave in an airbrush if you're trying to get an even application with no pooling.

They‘ll act like transparent paints, like all inks and Contrast style paints. The shading effect will be lost as airbrush application is much thinner than by brush.

I am not looking to buy contrast paint for one layer and done speedpainting... but for colorfilters, pulling colors together and intensifying colors by glazing. Normally inks are ok for this but generally to shiny for me. Would these work better with a matter result?

Good job, I bought all of them and also all Army Painter Speed Paints. I have like half a dozen contrast and it is really difficult to keep track of my inventory, your pictures have a lot of value to me! I am still unsure what other Contrast should I buy (if any) but I have also seen Vallejo is releasing a similar set of paints ver soon so I will wait to see what they get!

Depends, the most unique colours compared to Contrast are Goth Skin dip, Glorious Magenta and Amberglow. I also really like Skeleton Bone's shade of brown.

I own Elfwood Brown have to say my brown is a *LOT* more grey that yours. Its not bad and is an intresting difference but not the same at all.

Curious what primer do u use? . I didn't saw any cracks or white Spots with corax white undercoating

White Scar (so white). The darker the primer, the less noticeable it‘ll probably be.

Great video. I also want to get into the "Contrast" colors in conjunction with the Slapchop method and am not sure which are the best colors to start with. Wavering between the Dipping Inks from Greenstuff and the xpress colors from vallejo. What is your opinion on the price/performance and opacity of these sets? What do you think is the best? With all of them, unfortunately, the variety of colors is still somewhat limited.

They're both fine, overall I like the Xpress Colors a bit better as they are richer pigmented (though not as strong/opaque as most Contrast paints, which might actually a plus for Slapchop so the undershading can show through more). I'd suggest covering the basic primary and secondary colours with Xpress Colors and brown, bone and more outlandish colours with Dipping Inks as you see fit. Unfortunately, both ranges lack good grey and black paints, so I'd get these from the Contrast range. Hope this helps :)

Another downside: they contain alcohol and can strip the paint under if apply roughly (when wet blending them for example )

Can we expect a new video on the dipping inks? They have released some new colors and sadly, the pictures still aren't a correct representation of the colors, unlike your video. I open it up each time I need to buy a new color :p
