Vitamin D supplementation has a protective effect, against the incidence of COVID-19 in RCT studies,
OR 0.403, (95% IC 0.218, 0.747)
In the RCTs performed on HCWs, the overall reduction in risk in the population supplemented with vitamin D was approximately 80%
Against the incidence of COVID-19 in analytical studies
OR = 0.592, (95% IC 0.476-0.736)
Against the incidence of COVID-19 ICU admission
OR 0.317, (95% IC 0.147-0.680).
Our meta-analysis suggests a definitive and significant association between the protective role of vitamin D and COVID-19 incidence and ICU admission.
Preventive Vitamin D Supplementation and Risk for COVID-19 Infection: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

(28th Feb 2024)
Vitamin D, crucial roles
Bone homeostasis, muscle function, oncogenesis, immune response and metabolism.
In the context of the COVID-19
Numerous researchers have tried to determine the role vitamin D in the immune response to the virus.
Systematic review and meta-analysis, 15th May 2023
Preventive vitamin D supplementation, 16 publications
N = 1,262,235 participants,
A protective role in
Incidence of COVID-19
Mortality
Admission to intensive care units (ICUs).
We calculated the Odds Ratios
The assessment of potential bias and the evaluation of study quality will be conducted independently by two researchers.
Extra information
The majority of the effects of vitamin D are mediated by the VDR, which promotes the expression of genes containing specific DNA sequences and is expressed in almost all nucleated cells
Approximately 3 percent of the human genome is under the control of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D
Vitamin D has been observed to contribute to the synthesis of defensins,
to be pivotal for enhancing the phagocytic activity,
and to modulate the immune system response by regulating the inflammatory cascade

thats what most people do, but i am thinking maybe it makes more sense to do the opposite. do not supplement from nov to feb but supplement the spring and summer month, more and more the more sun is. why? because thats what the natural rythm is. does it make sense? is it beneficial? i dont know, but i got a fealing it somehow must make sense in nature that we do not get vitamin D in cold short winter days. i do not need to have D deficiency in winter, but i could up my levels to late october somewhere around 60ng/ml and when stopping over winter month i might be at 30-40ng/ml in march where i would start again with supplementing. any ideas?@@meshell1212

During covid, I went on daily 5000IU Vit D, then up to 10k IU with k2. My GERD vanished, my severe pollen allergies dropped 70%, and the seb.dermatitis just up and fell off my face - 2 yrs ago. Still gone. That sold me. I am on vitD for life and seek the sun whenever possible. Have not been sick since from anything since I went there.

I have also had great success using Vit D to control my seborrheic dermatitis. The crazy thing, no doctor ever told me of the correlation. I actually started taking it in 2020 and noticed the change. I played with the dosage over 6 months and figured out it was the vit D making my SD better. I find it much more effective than any prescription cream. It would have been nice to have figured it out 10 years earlier!

Almost 10 years ago I had a terrible flare up of psoriasis, a disease I'd had for 47 years. I found a site that recommended high (very high) dose vitamin D. 40,000 iu daily for 8 weeks. By week 6 my skin, which had been completely covered with guttate and plaque psoriasis, was psoriasis free. I'll be celebrating 10 years with minimal amounts of psoriasis this coming September. I only take 10-15,000 iu daily now and have never had side effects. And my little dog is 11 years old and I have never missed taking her for her daily walks. Vitamin D completely changed my life. And cutting dairy to the minimum. I had Covid once. It was the flu. I still walked the dog. Thank you for getting this information out. It is so important.

The doctors who were talking about this in spring 2020 were all vilified… glad that we have actual data showing that they were correct. I had a holistic doctor tell me, as a cancer survivor, that my level should be 80-100… my family practitioner keeps telling me that vitamin D is dangerous to have that high a level … she thinks 50 is fine… she’s also still wearing a mask in the office and pressures me to get the shots. Yeah, I need to find a new primary doctor.

I had HER-2 breast cancer in 2013. Doctors wanted to do a double mastectomy. For many reasons, I chose tumor removal (3.3 cm under the nipple). I, also, had chemo and radiation. I had a high-school friend at the time who was a retired neuro-surgeon and had devoted many years to the interaction of supplements/food and cancer. One of the Vitamins he proposed I take was Vit. D. I did so, along with a healthier diet and other supplements (too many to remember); and I got a response to Herceptin that only 26 percent of women get. My doctors were "blown away" and said my response was truly remarkable. This cancer has a high return rate. I still take my Vit. D. and am very diligent about my diet. The many other supplements were too expensive to maintain long-term.

It was a frightening time for us all and I did everything I could to prevent myself or anyone else from becoming infected. I took a Vitamin C, D and zinc dissolving tablet drink every day to keep my levels topped up as best I could. Do you know what? Out of the 20 or so of us on our small team, I was the only person not to go off sick with COVID-19 for the first two years of the pandemic. I later did become unwell and spent a few days in bed, but this was after restrictions had eased and I had stopped the daily vitamins. I completely believe the message in this video and have personal evidence to support it. I now take a regular multivitamin and plan to do so in the long term.

He's not a medical doctor. What qualifications in the science needed to know how to analyse vaccines has he got? OR is it his opinion? Opinions aren't necessarily sound as we look for answers that suit our mindset/bias. It's human nature, but so-called experts really need a degree in the subject.

We made our tele-med appointments and followed their prevention protocol. We are both 70 and in good health, active, not vaxxed, non-smokers, non-drinkers. The FLCCC-recommended supplements are still taken today and we will continue to do so. The ongoing research on Vitamin D has proven to be very beneficial! To date, neither of us have had any illnesses, and we never contracted "C". We do not get flu shots or any other ones that the med community push, so no shingles vax, no pneumonia vax, etc.

@@tigressnsnow I take 4000 IU daily. As a side note, since taking the supplements (Vit D and C, Zinc, Quercetin, & NAC) I have honestly felt more energetic and even somewhat stronger. I drink plenty of water and eat well (salads, veggies, meats, zero processed foods, all home prepared meals). My FLCCC doctor also recommended Xclear which is a Xylitol-based nasal spray to clear/clean the nasal passages, esp if out in public. Elsewhere I learned of the Povidone Iodine nasal swabbing (a 1% solution that you dilute from the 10% Iodine -- diluted w/ distilled water). When "C" was prevalent, I would use that nasal swab any time I went out in public. Use an eye dropper and a q-tip to swab each nostril...there are YT videos on this basic protocol).

And now today, another published paper showing that Vit D indeed would’ve been a better/cheaper option for many. My GP thinks my VIt D numbers are high, but I’ve studied and learned a lot. 40 is not a level I’m comfortable with. I also take it with a fat and take K2-7 too. TV channels should be putting the access death numbers up in the corners like they did for over a year when their narrative was supported by them publishing how many people were dying…many WITH not from COVID.

If your insulin levels are chronically high, your vit D levels can be lowered because the vit D becomes locked up inside your fat cells. Fasting also has a great effect on restoring the immune system as we age, including regenerating the immune system. It also restores the thymus over time, which is critical for fighting pathogens, cancer and autoimmune disease! Some benefits of occasional extended fasting and lowering carbs in the diet: High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time, including in the heart and lungs. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy. When insulin is high, vit D stays locked in the blood cells. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion plaques, growths and pathogens by the immune system. This will also remove spikes quicker, whether natural or unnatural in origin! Your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune bodies in a 72h fast, rejuvenating your entire immune system. This helps prevent the onset of new autoimmune conditions, which develop through a leaky gut and damaged immune system. Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, reducing inflammation and allowing the immune bodies to move freely through the body. Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release! Blood clotting is lessened and clots and plaques are removed over time. Fasting restores your circadian rhythm to normal over time. T cells and T reg cells are vital in fighting cancer, autoimmune disease and infections but as we age the thymus stops making as many of them. Fasting releases stem cells, which then can become new T cells. It also releases growth hormone, which regenerates the thymus itself! Fasting increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors and increases average telomere length in stem cell pools. Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures. When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell required for viruses to replicate. The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting. What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast but most teas and herbs are OK. Supplements and meds often break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting. Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building. Fasting activates autophagy (literally self eating). This will cause cells to recycle damaged proteins and foreign matter such as viruses. Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue! The obese will lose loose skin while fasting, but the frail will have increased growth hormone release, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness. Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility for some women. Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system, just like the effect of CBD oil Just 24h of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half! This reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function. Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers. Some patients may need continued acid reduction medication while fasting. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention! Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with. Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer. A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. They also help with dementia and many other issues even if you take them while not fasting! Glycine and trimethylglycine can also be useful supplements while fasting that won't break ketosis and have many benefits. Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast and seek advice. I first watched your videos on the benefits of take Vitamin D and doubling the dose, about 2 years ago. In the last 18 months I have not had a cold or virus. This is the first time I have not had the Christmas virus and cough, and my wife works with children. I am also pleased to say I have never had a positive Covid test, despite since lockdown travelling into London on public transport every day. I am for the record 69. Thank you for your advice on vitamin D.

A couple of years ago my doctor took some blood and my vitamin D level was at 12. (I believe normal is around 40) I started taking 5000 iu daily with K and a Super C vitamin that also has some zinc and D and within 2 weeks the terrible pain I had in my legs went away which I didn’t know low D could cause at the time so that was a happy accident. BUT THE MAIN REASON FOR MY COMMENT IS…while my insurance through my job pays for a yearly blood test THEY DO NOT COVER THE COST OF THE VITAMIN D TEST and I received a bill for $350 for that part of the test. Most insurances DO NOT COVER THAT! Why??? Maybe they don’t want us to know how much we need it.

I am a strong believer in supplements. I gave my mom B-complex; I-Cap eye vitamin which had the usual A,C,D E and other vitamins/minerals good for eyesight. I also gave her magnesium, iodine, gingko and coconut oil. All of these for brain health. Each time my mother went into the hospital, and they would not allow her vitamin, my mother could not put five words together let alone carry a conversation. One day back on the vitamins when she got home, her speech returned, she could carry on a conversation with no problem. Watch the news and understand what was going on. Alzheimer's and dementia run strong on her side of the family but thanks to the vitamins up until the day she went into the hospital the last time at 83, we were still able to really talk about anything and everything. If you are at high risk. What could it hurt.

Considerable necrosis developed following a recent surgery due to loss of adequate blood supply to tissue near the incision site. I have two 'gaping wounds large and deep enough to easily accommodate the mass of a medium grade egg. I am facing months of daily debridement, packing, and wrapping, as the wounds granulate and heal from the inside-out. I'm doing fine. Healing is coming along well. But I was most impressed with my wound care doctor. He put me on a daily regimen of 10,000-IU of D3, 4,000 mg of C, as well as zinc, a multivitamin, collagen, and biotin gummies. He told me the D3 was the most important to protect from infection and promote optimum cellular recovery. If I could only take one of those supplements it should be the D3. It was just strange to hear a doctor wax so poetically about any particular vitamin, no matter the reason. behind it.

93 what? ng/ml or nMol/L. If it is the first you are fine, maybe even a bit high, if the second you are still deficient. A number without a unit of measurement is meaningless. I'm guessing (which is a bad thing to have to do) that given your extraordinary dose for a year, it is probably the first, as the 9,000 IU that I've been on has raised even my housebound and sunlight-deprived level to 291nMol/L or 116.4ng/ml over the course of a few years, during which I could not get any doctor to order a test. Now I know, I have reduced to 5,000 IU as I am aiming for 150 - 200 nMol/L or 60 to 80 ng/ml, and I will somehow manage to get my level tested more frequently until I arrive at a good intake of supplemental VitD to maintain my level in that range.
