I've a coworker who still uses a PSP to this day. PS handhelds are excellent and they age like fine wine. I feel like its a huge wasted opportunity for Sony to not release another dedicated handheld similar to the Vita/psp, and instead goes for a ps5 streaming device which looks like the Wii U 🤣🤣

Sony has the ability to make a great handheld but there’s not much point when Switch is so dominant. Also money wise they’re probably more focused on getting their cloud gaming platform in place instead of dedicated handheld ports.

The market is way past handhelds. The only reason the Switch works so well is because it's a hybrid console and that was an intentional design decision to cover both the eastern and the western market (east doesn't buy home consoles anymore and the west is not really interested in handhelds). If Sony ever released a new handheld console everyone around the globe would abuse it for ports of their already existing games. That's largely what happened to the Vita, what happened to the 3DS towards it's end and it's what is happening to the Switch ever since it came out. Tailor-made games like the Mega Man Star Force series, Dissidia or Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep are a thing of the past. Nobody would go through that trouble unless Sony would specifically organize such a game. But that sounds like wasted money in today's economy.

Portable consoles have never been more popular that at this moment with the Switch and the Steam Deck plus with emulation having so much to do with game conservation on the Deck and people getting access to their Steam games on the go is a revolution for console gaming. All Sony had to do ( but still can do ) is to release another vita as powerful as a PS4 pro make it open source and be able to cast games on smart TVs via an app. Get over the dumb idea of propriety SD cards, sell games at low prices like 20 dollars on sales like Steam. Make it have an oled Screen and Sell it for 350 dollars and that’s it. PS Vita modding has been keeping the console afloat all these years and I think Sony knows it, to fumble the bag this hard on what is essentially free money for the company and more ips for the brand would be a monumental failure on their part.

This this is still a fighting game beast

About L2 and R2 buttons you can use ReVita Plugin for remap any action to vita back panel. This is really cool for games like God of War, you can move action from front screen touch to back panel in this game.

I've been using my Vita steadily since I got one in 2012. The Steam Deck is what finally replaced mine (mostly). Though, I recently had an international flight and I picked bringing the Vita over the Steam Deck. Smaller, easier to charge, and still plenty of games I wanted to play. It's an amazing console that never got enough love from Sony ... but it still gets tons of love from the community.

I play mines every day ‼️ I have 2 a white one and the black one. OLED screen is the best. I played mines modded as well went back to normal because I have a good collection of games. Keeps me occupied while I’m at work for 8-10 hours 🥇because I can also use the browser and watch KZbin. Yesterday at work after I got done playing Dragons crown I started watching the Redman & method man show 🤣 Love my vita to death‼️

So in order to get full use of this grip you'd have to hack the console. There's a plugin called "PS4linkcontrols" which assigns L2 and R2 to the back touchpad for remoteplay. There's a plugin called "ReVita" that lets you remap all controls on a per game basis. I use ReVita for SFxT, SF Alpha 3 Max/Double Upper and Darkstalkers the chaos tower. I switch L and R to R1 and R2, then I Macro L1 and L2 to press the 3 separate punch buttons and the 3 separate kick buttons respectively. This makes it easier to do Super combos in SFxT and Dark Stalkers and allows me to do the teleport with Evil Ryu and Akuma which is a Dragon Punch motion while pressing all 3 punches or all 3 kicks Edit: I should add that I am in no way pirating or Emulating, I'm just enhancing the experience of what I've legally purchased

no idea if anybody’s interested in this, but I did some more research and I found that he joined the company a few years after the first Walkman was released so he definitely didn’t work on that one but he did work on a couple of models later on. four walkmans and one discman. if you’re interested in more info on this feel free to reply!

Not gonna lie. It's pretty awesome that you can use the Hori grip on the Vita 1000. Only downside is if you don't already own a Hori grip they'll run you about $300+ with minor exceptions. You could save yourself some money and just get a JEC/Top Player L2/R2 grip with a hard case for about the same price as the mod for the Hori grip...

I remember playing my vita from the time i wake up till I sleep, In a way I wasn't really physically healthy because of it. But daaangg the amount of memories I made with this device. From the games I played, friends I made, and the links I searched as a curious 12 yrs old. No device can match the amount of sentimental memories/experience with my vita exept my computer.

Ended up going for the 1000 grip from Aliexpress with a special carry case. Haven't placed the back button panel as it uses adhesives (semi permament) and I still like play Uncharted or Tearaway from time to time. I foolishly walked past the 2000 grip when I was in Japan 😢

I really wish the vita had the clickable analogues and triggers. Made many bigger games hard to play and especially shooters. Freedom wars was also a really...awkward game to play lol. The switch fixes this problem that's been plagueing handhelds for so long. The vita is still definitely a special handheld though with treasures full of rpgs and great to play emulators.
