Agree with all these points. Trouble is, the older I get, the more of a problem ‘Good sleep’ becomes. Diet is not a problem but drinking enough is. Slap on the wrist for that:) I rarely feel the urge to hydrate and have to force myself

Very interesting, thanks! What are the most infamous mucus generators? Spicy food, fat food, dairy? All of the above? And, alternatively, what are safe foods and drinks?
@voicelessondotcom4 күн бұрын
Yes to "all of the above" and there is no "safe" food other than water - it all depends on what works for your metabolism.

Nonsense, although the mechanics of hydration reaching our cells is accurate as told by you, sucking on halls and/or sipping water brings nearly immediate improvement to our dry voices. It doesn't matter why this is true just that it is true. One only needs to experience this to feel its effects. Sipping water in between songs or even sections of songs can be crucial to good vocal performance. Ask any other pro and they will tell you the same thing. Perhaps splashing moisture over the mouth and throat when drinking is all that is needed and the rest is taken care of at the cellular level fed by the constant sipping of water starting well before and then throughout ones performance. But do sip singers, or you'll wish you had. Also, can we hear you actually sing a song?? link perhaps?

Sipping and singing allows one to ignore imbalanced behavior. Why is the voice dry? Because tensions employed along the vocal tract deny the saliva glands to lubricate naturally. It's like blinking the eye. The sipping (swallowing) simply moves the musculature for a moment and you get brief relief - only to need to continue the vicious cycle. I've performed thousands of shows and was guilty of using a quick sip of something to reset my muscles early on. But I had always admired singers that never sipped during a performance. (certainly not obviously) And you have never seen a profession production where the singer is sipping between sections of a song - never. If you don't have enough saliva in your mouth to swallow naturally between phrases then your technique is engaging way too much muscle. It would greatly benefit any singer who constantly needs to reset their throat by addressing the underlying issue of using force as a fix. I have many videos of me singing on my channel. www.youtube.com/@voicelessondotcom/videos
