First Impression: 2020 Yamaha YZ250FX

GREAT review! Thank you. I’m really debating the WR250F VS WR450F vs YZ250X... I want a GOOD trail bike but I also want a Hare scramble / Enduro machine. I used to be a B class racer on my best day. Now being out of it for a while I’m a Senior C class. Hmmmm... Oh and I also live and ride mostly in NC.

It appears that Yamaha is using prettier shade of blue for the 2020 models, the grey plastics is my favorite for 2020.

I think it's the videographers color grade on their footage. Looking at other 2020 videos from same event and they look normal.

i don’t get it depends electric is easier to start and if you are on a hill it can save you if you stall but if the battery die you have to bump start it while kickstart is ol’ reliable

Does anybody here know if you can use the motocross map version on the 250 and 450 versions of these bikes for desert riding.

You connect a phone app to the bike and set the maps however you want.

F.Y.I- The FX models, 250s and 450s, are just stripped down WRs. The two models, FX and WR, are physically identical to each other.

@@nickblaser992 The FX models have only been out for about 4-5 years. Feel free to go to Yamahamotor.com, pull up their comparison chart, and you'll see line by line that the WR and the FX models are physically identical. p.s the WR 250R is a dual sport.

@@danielc5205 That is completely incorrect. The YZ250FX is absolutely nothing like the WR250R. Completely different engines, frames, suspension... everything. YZ250FX is a race bike, WR250R is a dual sport based on Yamaha's 250 street bike motor.

@@EmileModesitt Obviously, I was referencing the WR 250F. As most people already know, Yamaha makes the WR 250R and the WR 250F, both are totally different bikes.

@Daniel C- it is stated that the WR250F has softer suspension but the biggest difference is in the ECU. The WR’s ECU is not programmable and is more mild in its tuning. You can buy the Comp. ECU and get to the power levels that the FX has. Exhaust on the WR is also spark arrested so it is “corked” up more than the FX. With the factory ECU and the stock exhaust you can expect less HP out of the WR
