Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with us! As usual it seems like a healthy diet is the key to getting the nutrients we need in a form that our bodies know how to utilize. I'd love to learn more about iron deficiency anemia and iron supplements. I also have a substantial history of kidney stones and it seems like the dietary recommendations I get are contradictory. For instance spinach is good for iron but bad for stones😕. Dietary calcium is good - calcium supplements are bad. (I learned that from you) Thanks again.

Not so fast. Check out Dr. Barrie Tan on KZbin who is the world's authority on Vitamin E who says quite the opposite of this gentleman. The Tocotrienol form of Vitamin E has proven to be quite effective against a host of ailments and diseases, even more so than the Tocopherol form of Vitamin E.

I don't know...I was taking vitamins and added Vitamin E to the mix. I began feeling really well, like myself 30 -40 years ago. Then I had a stroke to the back of the eye. There were A LOT of extenuating circumstances, like VERY HIGH BP, so I don't think it was the vitamin E I had been taking for about a month, but I'll always wonder, because of the timing.

I have this is the best combination. However, it has been stressed that taking a tocopherol supplement should not be taken together with a tocotrienol supplement because one negates the other. Take them with a meal but separated in time from each other (i.e., one for breakfast, and the other for lunch).

Dietary intake of vitamin E is pushed by Dr. Neil Barnard of PCRM due to population studies showing an association between dietary intake and reduced risk of Alzheimer's. What is your view of this recommendation? Population studies do not show causation. Also, there are a limited number of foods with sufficient amount of vitamin E, and they include almonds and sunflower seeds. I prefer not to eat those every single day. In fact, I decided not to eat them and I do not put stock in limited population studies.

So … if you are already pretty healthy, vitamin E supplements aren’t going to benefit you, but they don’t seem to do any harm either. You cited plenty of studies done on healthy individuals, that indicate it isn’t going to make anyone much healthier than healthy. But doctor … why didn’t you address the subject of vitamin E deficiency? I want to know what happens when your body has low vitamin E. What do the deficiency studies look like, in sick individuals?

You should avoid synthetic tocopherols. According to my research, on a supplement label, natural vitamin E will either be called RRR-alpha-tocopherol (new designation) or d-alpha-tocopherol (old designation). Synthetic forms of the nutrient are designated either as all-rac-alpha-tocopherol (because it is a racemic mixture) or "dl-alpha-tocopherol" (old designation).
@Sophiedorian05352 жыл бұрын
@@GenesisReveal Good point. Racemic mixtures consist of what works, and of the mirror image of what works, which doesn’t work, and often turns out disruptive or toxic. I only used L-alpha Tocotrienols, not tocopherols. It’s how I got my one and only child, at age 33, in 1995. Vitamine E deficiency manifested itself with me as idiopathic infertility: hormones, organs and cells OK, but their timing was a little off.
@rockaboatus588 Жыл бұрын
@@GenesisReveal Thank you, well said. I have been using a quality vitamin E product called 'Unique E' which, according to what you have indicated, is a natural vitamin E (high gammas d-alpha-tocopherol).

Check out Dr Barrie Tan’s interview about avoiding Vit E tocopheniols. The E annatto is the delta and gamma from tocotreinals which is absorbed 50% faster and more effectively than standard Vit E . The standard Vit E talked about here by is a dormant type so the studies he quotes no wonder there wasn’t any results.!

@chazwyman8951 Жыл бұрын
He makes perfect sense. First he states the standard view, then he reviews the studies, which fly against the standard view. The conclusion is not to waste your money on supplements. Eat a few nuts and avoid margarine. The chance you are deficient it practically zero, and you are not going to get any anti- cancer/heart/immune/sight benefits.
@balancedactguy Жыл бұрын
