He just talked about the precautions for oral vitamin k but not the precautions of the shot which has alcohol and aluminium in it.

Thanks! I did research...debatable subject. However, one thing for sure....oral vitamin K is much better than injection-100% agree! (No Aluminum and Polysorbate)

Due with a boy this week, we are planning to circumcise. Do you think oral vitK would still be sufficient (instead of injection at hospital) given that he will be having a procedure that causes a lot of bleeding?
@dr.brianthornburg252715 күн бұрын
I circumcise babies in my practice who take the oral vitamin K1 protocol during weeks 1 or 2 of life. No issues ever. But this is a discussion for you and your baby's doctor.

My 1st born had the shot in 2004 and she was premature at 36 weeks. She developed severe jaundice and was under the lights for 13 days after. It was awful to deal with in the NICU. She even had to go back to the hospital after being released for 7 days because her labs showed her jaundice was still high. I was 20 years old when I had her. No one asked my permission back then to give her the shot nor explained anything to me. My daughter also developed hearing problems as well. This is also a result of severe jaundice. She also had difficulty in school and some developmental delays. I never made the connections till I started researching this!! After all these years…. I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and seriously considering having her not get the shot. I have a genetic disease called Ehlors-Danlos Syndrome. It’s a connective tissues disease and with this we also have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and don’t respond well to injections of any kind. Even lidocaine we don’t tolerate well. My children have a 50% chance of inheriting my EDS. My 1st born did and my 2nd most likely will also.

Dr Brian , what brand do you recommend.? And is the dosage the same you talk about ?
Also very important isn't vitamin K injection a black box vaccine???
@dr.brianthornburg2527 Жыл бұрын
The Physician Desk Reference has a block box warning that the injectable form of vitamin K1can cause anaphylaxis and death.

Dr Thornburg, during my research I have read that vitamin K2 is absorbed much more and lasts longer in the body than K1.Why did you chose to make your product with K1 instead of K2? My concern is the K2 (MK7) drops usually contain around only 5 MCG of the vitamin. I can not see giving the baby 200 drops (to equal 1 MG) That's recommended. Am I missing something? And thank you for making this video :)

Good question. K1 assists in preventing bleeds and is a cofactor in the clotting process. K2 does not prevent bleed; it supports calcium absorption. Here is a good link showing the differences. innovixlabs.com/blogs/insights/vitamin-k1-vs-k2-a-side-by-side-comparison

@@dr.brianthornburg2527 :O unreal!! That's the whole bloody point to help with the blood to clot/prevent vkdb, meanwhile it seems all the other drops that are marketed towards newborns who's parents opt out of the dangerous shot contain vit K2 which doesn't even help with clotting?! I'm blown away!! I can't thank you enough for your response! I'll def be getting a bottle or two of your K1 drops as I'm an expecting first time father. God bless you and happy new year Dr. Thornburg! BTW, I also enjoyed your video on the DE :) I hope you produce some more videos soon!

Since it’s drops, how do you measure mg? How many drops would 2mg be and how many would 1mg be? Do I wait to start at 38 or 39 weeks?
@dr.brianthornburg25272 жыл бұрын
Hello. The directions are on the bottle for calculating dosing and we provide a dosage card for easier administration and accounting. If the baby is born before 38 weeks then you would use injectable and not oral. You would not wait until the baby is 38 weeks gestation to administer oral vitamin K if you have a premature baby. Bets of health to you.

Doc, are there injections available that are 100% vitamin k without the added aluminum and polysorbate 80?
@dr.brianthornburg25275 жыл бұрын
Hi Nolan. Not that I am aware. In order to package for storage, a preservative like polysorbate 80 is needed. Aluminum is a common adjuvent used in vaccine preparations to "activate" the immune system. This would not be needed in a vitamin K shot. The immune system does not need to be "activated" to receive the vitamin. I am not clear why aluminum is on the ingredient list when other preservative are available.

Dr. Brian Thornburg the same vaccines that are protected by federal law not allowing parents to sue the manufacturer in the event of an adverse reaction? I’m sold!

What about if mom is GBS positive or takes an antidepressant? Does that change the effectiveness of oral Vitamin K absorption?

No, but check with your pediatrician for specific concerns.

does anyone know where you can get oral drops in Europe ?
@dr.brianthornburg25274 жыл бұрын
I know several European countries use oral vitamin K at birth. Unfortunately I am not aware of who sells this but a Google search may help. This vitamin is common. Best of luck.
