Vito was married to my close friends sister. My friend told me back in the day, in Staten Island, she’d hear Vito and the boys practicing on the corner. Ahhhhh. The good old days!

My cousin John Barnett and I, as soon-to-be 5th and 6th graders in the summer of 1958, vacationing with our parents at Houghton Lake in Michigan, stood in front of an indoor juke box in the dark little diner across the road from our rented cabin and spent every dollar and coin we had punching up "Little Star" again and again. The song was so thrilling, the lone adult on-duty short-order cook didn't complain one bit, even told us what we were doing was fine with him. I sure wish is was 1958 again.
