The president of Harvard University should be chosen from the best and the brightest of the private sector. Harvard has a $50 B endowment and all the administrative challenges that that entails. There's nothing about a career university administrator's skillset that prepares one for the president's job. Claudine Gay was profoundly underqualified for the role, even using traditional academic metrics.
