Had the opportunity to try these tires for a little while now. I have to say I'm super impressed. The technology in this tire is pretty awesome, from the stepped center tread knobs for less rolling resistance but still maintaining traction, to the siped side knobs that have support and don't fold under pressure like many tires I've ridden in the past. The new Graphine 2.0 gives great traction and has predictable characteristics that help me get out of many situations in the mountains.

i've ran WTB trail boss, minion F and R, aggressor/dissector and magic mary/big betty combos. i just got a set of vittoria based on all the recent postitive trail talk. sure, some people will never leave maxxis, but i find no loyalty to a brand if a better rubber comes along. the set i run now are (f) Mazza 2.4 and (r) agarro 2.35 on a shred dogg at 150/130- i'm really happy with them. Great video, thank you. I am running Nobl 36 on my Ripmo V2. I am currently running Assegai / Aggressor combo here in the PNW but I'm always comparing and looking for something better. Which casing did you run here with the 985 gram weights? I'm looking on their website and not seeing it. Thanks!
@Projectnortheast
@Projectnortheast 3 жыл бұрын
The 985g was the trail casing. The enduro casing is quite a bit heavier but also pretty indestructible. The trail casing on the vittorias compares in my opinion like this... the trail version is comparable to in between a exo+ and a double down and the enduro casing is between a doubke down and DH. The reason I say that is I think the vittoria casings are slightly more rugged than the exo maxxis. I got flats often on exo casing maxxis but rarely get them on vittoria trail tires and if I do it's in pretty gnarly terrain. Hope that helps

Thanks for the review, I've tried the martello and it was good, but not great, this looks more like what I'd want, I do like the feel of a DHF.
@Projectnortheast
@Projectnortheast 4 жыл бұрын
So, the designer for Vittoria actually designed the DHF as well. But this is not a DHF. Dare I say it rolls faster and grips harder than a DHF. The side knobs dont fold which is the one thing I didnt like about the DHF.
@MTBGarage
@MTBGarage 4 жыл бұрын
@@Projectnortheast I never liked the DHF as a rear tire, but was fine with a DHR. I usually run something lighter though like a Minion SS or Rekon 2.6, do you think the aggarro is a better match for those?
@Projectnortheast
@Projectnortheast 4 жыл бұрын
@@MTBGarage I run the aggaro on my local trails on my stumpjumper ST. Its a really nice trail tire or maybe a light enduro tire if you want a small tread in the rear. It grips like crazy and rolls fast. The mazza for me is a pure enduro tire where it rolls fast for regular trail riding but really shines in those steep mountain situations. So ya I would say the aggaro would definitely fit the bill vs the rekon

Still looking for that "unicorn" tire, I know it is always a trade-off, but without a car I want to find something that gets me through a hilly urban environment to the (equally hilly) trails. Hi! Between Mazza and Martellos, specially on the rear, what tire rolls better? I usually do enduro stuff but with many/long climbs so for me its interesting pedalling efficiency.. Also considering Mazza/Agarro both in TNT casing.. About Vittoria insert, in case of need run a tube (a problem with a valve or some damage in the rim) what do you do with the insert? Its the bog Con i see apart of the extra weight Cheers
@Projectnortheast
@Projectnortheast 3 жыл бұрын
So, I think Martello would roll faster. I rode martellos for years and love them. A mazza front and martello rear would be a great combo except if it got really steap and greasy then you would want a Mazza in the rear. The agarro is a ridiculously good trail tire, but I don't know if it really has deep enough lugs for an enduro tire. Unless your trails are more smooth and dry then it would be a faster rolling option...

Do you think you'd ever run the Enduro version? Or, based on your Vittoria experience is the trail casing burly enough for just about everything, with inserts? I do mostly trail riding, with maybe 1 or 2 park days a year. I run DHF F&R EXO casing with cushcore - haven't had a flat or tear yet. Maybe "light enduro" as you put it below.
@Projectnortheast
@Projectnortheast 4 жыл бұрын
As I understand it the tire designer for Vittoria describes the "trail" version of the vittoria tires like the mazza to be slightly between an EXO casing and a Double Down from maxxis. I ride the bike park and similar terrain every single week and it's been a long time since I've worried about a flat. Probably the only place I would see myself (150 lb rider) riding the enduro casing would be at a high stakes race like an EWS. I am running a vittoria air liner in the rear but the past year I ran nothing but trail versions and had multiple podiums at local enduros and didnt feel at any time I needed to worry about running the trail version

@@Oper8or because people like to complicate things instead of ride their bikes... and they "feel" that their bike may go faster with less rolling resistance on flat trails with a faster rolling rear. @Projectnortheast
@Projectnortheast 3 жыл бұрын
Barzo is a tubeless xc tire or could be an xc racers trail tire etc. I raced a few season of cross country and used a mezcal rear and barzo front. I don't think the barzo would be a good match with a Mazza for any real aggressive riding. If you wanted a faster rolling set up I would do an agarro rear and mazza front or martello rear and mazza front

How do you think it compared to the TNT Goma? That was my go to for so long and was soooo upset when they stopped them!
@Projectnortheast
@Projectnortheast 4 жыл бұрын
Oh man goin way back with the Goma! The Goma was a great dry condition tire but really suffered when things turned wet. The martello kindof took over for hardpack blocks style tread that blew the Goma away in all conditions. The Mazza has even more bite to it than either of those tires. A good combo if you like a rear tire that is predictable but that you can drift easier would be a martello rear and a mazza front!
