It is better, but worth the change from Quest Pro to this I am not so sure yet. Its hard to say. The are further updates to be expected, so we will see. For now the balance is averaged

It makes perfect sense. The vive pro eye was basically designed all by Valve and tobii. Htc just manufactured it. Now that Htc doesnt have Valve and Tobii doing their home work, the headset is gonna suck.

im glad i waited, its very concerning that there arent any real reviews uploaded about this headset just yet. im looking to upgrade my index, but i can hold off until i find a good headset with at least eye tracking. im ok with doing my own mouth tracker, but i dont have the time or patience to modify a headset to add eye tracking so i was considering buying a quest pro until i heard about the vive focus vision. i didnt have high hopes for it, but i was hoping that it would be better out of the box than this, but i can still wait a couple of months, because there are a couple of things that i dont like about it

It seems weird that a headset with foveated rendering would have so much jittering. Wouldn't we notice frequent blurriness if it couldn't tell where the eye was really looking? Hopefully it's just an error in the face tracking software we use for VRC.

Been hearing the reviews and everyone is saying it’s not anywhere near the 1k price point. Some people saying it would be a good hmd at the 500-600 price. I haven’t even received my hmd yet and I’m returning it. So sad 😢

I am recently back into VR and was using an Oculus DK2 before a Vive for the past near decade without complaints, though for VRChat I secured a QPro (I should have kept mine rather than only keep the Q3) and appreciate the smooth eye/face tracking ^^ Though the friction of not being a native Vive device is annoying, and face tracking does not track each cheek separately nor tongue directionality, so I keep trying to secure a Vive Pro Eye and Facial Tracker without paying egregious scalper prices, though the latter is out of production so I might be out of luck >.> If the Deckard has eye/face options then that will be another chance at quality wired frictionless total tracking, I think(?)

Thanks for the video. I used my focus vision for the first time today and everything you mention in the video has been what ive also experienced. I hope they fix it soon in patches. Ill try sranipal, although i hate the UAC popup when it runs. I dont want to disable UAC.

There are multiple things that can be fixed via software, for sure. They putting the effort into it is a different story. I'm still wondering how this passed a quality gate.

I was originally considering getting the Vive Ultimate trackers as I don't have a lot of room, but after hearing tons of issues with it, I went with slimes. I kinda figured this headset was going to be a bit of a let down as well, just seeing how HTC is kinda falling with their recent products, so I snagged a Quest Pro and been enjoying that for the past few days. Hopefully some updates will smooth everything out.

my keeps dropping my jaw in all of my avatars. i thought i was doing something wrong. sometimes the mouth stops tracking, and i have to physically remove and install the mouth tracker to get it going again.

My friend had the Focus 3 (garbage) When I helped to get it useable, I recall there was a calibration menu in the SteamVR menu which he had to do numerous times a day. Is this still the case?

Recently got a vive pro eye for get this. $180!!!! Got it in today and let me say. The eye tracking on here is phenomenal compared to the vive Xr elite. Don’t get me wrong tho the xr’s face tracking is still pretty good but I think the best of the best will be vive face tracker + pro eye. Also if anyone can help I’ve got a problem with closing one eye on the pro eye and not able to move the other eye is it like that or is it something I’m doing wrong?

Your problem about closing one eye is not supposed to happen. I think I saw this issue already on the VRCFT discord. Maybe look around there.

Wait, I have a XR.E with face tracking, so to get much better tracking, should I be connecting directly to Steam instead of allowing the Vive Hub to handle that? Is that possible? My tracker causes those same jitters and depending on the avatar, it wont even show properly or as smooth. I've been using the Wolf Link rex avatar as my benchmark since its the only full face AV thats free that I could find.

For PCVR yeah, you need Steam. But the application that will handle the whole tracking is the VRCFT with the SRanipal software.

@@KnightXVRC Thanks for the heads-up. I will give that a try to see if my experience improves. I've always thought the Vive Hub was required to use mine in PCVR mode. Looking between the specs of the Focus Vision and my face tracker add-on for the XR.E, they have the same refresh rates, etc so now I'm confident (hopeful) that I'll get much better results if I remove Vive Hub from the equation.

I use VRCFT + SRanipal -> followed the documentation here: docs.vrcft.io/docs/hardware/VIVE/focus3_xre I could try making a video-tutorial sometime soon tho. But if you have any issue during the install you can also check the VRCFT discord.

Really disappointed with mine. Would love to see how the display port cable goes, but will probably return it before they even release the cable. Hoping for updates on something I spent 1k on is not something I'm willing to do. Ill probably just end up using the quest 3 with the old face tracker I was so hopeful.

I got the display port cable with the preorder. It improves graphics a lot and latency, but wont fix Face tracking or eye tracking issues

dude i got mine and its such trash... did yours also come without the cable idk if you pre ordered too. mine was listed outside teh return window and i really dont wanna wait for that I wanna get this out of here. I wrote on another video of my review. heres my experience. pretty much what I wrote. I got mine in the mail 2 days ago. seriously dont get this. I pre ordered. didnt even come with the display port, and instead they made it so it comes in november OUTSIDE the return window. it also doesnt come with chargers for the controllers you need to buy some Usb C cables if you dont have any on hand. the heat oh this headset is pretty bad even with the fan. the auto eye Ips kinda eh, the lenses id day is okay you can actually read from pretty far in VRC, ANd god dont listen to the wifi thing this shit suffers just even being next to a damn router. the whole screen turns into some tye dye water effect and you crash constantly also mine brand fuckin new and it randomly has power outs of the lenses in either one or both eyes, tracking in this is awful as well the whole hand tracking thing they say this comes with oh god good luck you cant even use your controllers during the beginning of the setup you gotta awkwardly contstanly grab the damn air to continue and the END of that then they finally let you use the controllers and while the end of the set up they need you to update. I thought OH its wireless so let me get up and get this box out of the way NO dont do that literally fucking turns off the headset and you gotta do the ENTIRE set up again just to get back to the update window.. just dude please dont get this awful headset Im unable to get a review with the damn cable since it comes outside the window of return and I reallly dont wanna see if its anybetter only to be disappointed and a waste on 1k get this out of here its a damn brick. dont listen to youtubers saying this product is good. this isnt even good on the part function that its suppse to be both mixed reality and pcvr if it fails entirely in mixed reality dont sell a mixed reality headset. this thing is worthless.

I got the cable with the preorder. It improves the display quality by a lot. But that's about it I think. The cable offers no miracle, just constant streaming. So if you have wifi issues or so, I guess it will improve your experience, but dunno if you want me to do a specific test or how.

The headset alone only brings you eye tracking. I had to buy the separate Face Tracking module for the Focus series.

@@kingpuro2317 If they fix the issues, yes. If not, then I cannot really see enough improvement over the Meta Quest Pro. Also beware the VIVE has Fresnel lenses with old panels. If you are used to the Quest lenses, you will have a hard time here

I'm having an issue with the vive focus facial tracker, it's tracking my mouth only from my top lip, so when I open my mouth wide the face is normal, but when I close the avatars jaw goes through the top on the mouth.

Make sure you use the latest version of VRCFT and SRanipal. You should stop (untick) VIVE Streaming from sending the OSC and let the program VRCFT handle it with the SRanipal software. VIVE does not seem to be doing a good job there when streaming the OSC data. You can check the documentation for VRCFT here: docs.vrcft.io/docs/hardware/VIVE/focus3_xre

I tried the wired mode and it looked nice. Resolution is good. Texts are more readable and stuff. But the good graphics are somehow a bit ruined by the fresnel lenses, which require you to have the exact good sweetspot or you will see the blur around anyway. Other than that, the cable for the wired-mode is not bad. I like that is easy to plug in and out the usb c out of the headset.

all i see is a headset being made with over stock parts they have and making it a standalone with eye/face tracking installed to make it look like a good selling point but using the wrong parts causing it work halfass then it should be working. so in short.. it is a cashgrab and a way to clear stock.

And this is why I refunded my HTC focus vision, sadly the headset itself has wayyy to many problems, blurry vision, ipd not correcting the eyes properly and the fact that I can't use my base stations and so on it annoys me, went for a quest pro, hopefully is way more better than that. Many people had hopes (me included). And we are all disappointed once again XD There are good features to this headset but they are mostly being shadowed by a horrible software behind it. It could be fixed, but who knows how much effort is VIVE gonna put into it.

Your comment on the Vive Pro Eye still working so much better has been my issue with every headset with eye and face tracking since the Vive Pro Eye. I was hoping, and still am hoping the Vision gets the software updates it needs to at least be on par with the Pro Eye. My Vive Pro Eye is on its last legs, I've already had to replace a USB-C port, Potentiometer, and an FFC connector on the daughterboard to continue its use and really don't want to downgrade... 🥲

I think the only other headset that could somewhat trade off with the Vive Pro Eye would be the Meta Quest Pro. There's a balance of give and take features but it could work if you have no other choice.
