Great review, as always. Quick question - any issues with your Vividstorm screen? I have the 110" version, and the upper support beam doesn't stay parallel to the screen case. As a result, they screen twists, and with an UST projector, it makes it VERY difficult to square the image! Thanks for your input!

When viewing in a completely dark room, with white walls, is it better to have a white or black UST projector? Which colour projector is less noticeable while watching movies/gaming? I'm thinking of getting the Optoma P2............so can you still play games in game mode with HDR enabled? My LG TV has a HDR Game mode which allows HDR gaming and improved input lag at the same time. I'd hate to use the P2 for gaming in game mode for better input lag, but have to go without the HDR for games that support it. Also, I hear the Optoma P2 has an input lag of around 69ms while my LG TV is around 34ms. Is 69ms still ok for first person shooters? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the channel, they both look the same, the biggest difference is the rollable design which conceals the screen rather than having a huge grey box on your wall.

Wow nice screen, i got a question regarding the ultra short throw ratio. If they say, only 7,2" away from the wall for an 100" image. Do they meen: 7,2'' from the wall to the back of the beamer or, 7,2'' from the wall to the laser(front of the beamer)? I need to make my own TV cabinet so i was wondering :P

Please do a video on the ideal size screen for viewing distance and height of the screen from eye height. Some say 30 degree viewing angle is best, but seems almost everyone goes with a larger screen. How much is too much? And some people put 100 inch screens on their fireplace mantle... Talk about first row at the drive in theater; neck cramps.

Screen is a neat idea but for those of us with a UST projector sitting atop a console cabinet 20” high, this unit doesn’t extend the screen high enough. I think a retractable hanging one would be better.:)

Some reddit topics mention creases and dents because of opening and closing. Also users mention that screen wont stretch perfectly after some time so the image is distorted. Apparently the response from Vividstorm is that they advise the user to leave the screen open at all times. Pretty useless for a retractable screen. How is your experience with this?

I was thinking the same thing. From what I can tell, I don't think you can put the projector screen on the floor and then the furniture in front of it because the screen won't go high enough if the projector is on the furniture. in this video, the projector is on the floor and the screen is on the floor. I really don't want that

I doubt it because of the Ambient light rejection (ALR) technology in the screen... in theory it would reject a lot of the projector light if it was upside down.

How flat does the screen get? With a UST projector, any imperfections or wrinkles in the screen can result in larger distortions of the image. How does it compare to the flat ALR projector screen that you have in this regards?

I wanted ust alr screen in the range of 140" and contacted multiple manufacturers including Vividstorm. What I realized is that the fabric that all manufacturers use is made by only one company from Taiwan and I reached out to them as well and learned that 120" is the max diagonal size available with 16:9 ratio for now. Hopefully they start producing larger size soon as there is clearly a demand.

I don't know but 80" and 65" is a considerable difference but my point is that you have the option to go from 80" up to 150" from just a few inches from the wall which you can't do with a tv.

The visible strings on the side are a little off-putting for me, a folding/unfolding shroud to cover the mechanism would be nice. Apart from the strings, this is a nice screen

It's pretty bad when the screen cost as much as the projector! And it's made in China so I'd be worried how it will work after using for a year. The projector companies should be selling a screen with the unit as a package deal. Also why are you only using an 80 inch and now 100 inch when you have a projector that has 150 inch at 4k, I think you need at least 120 inch!

@@hastafa1 That is not an ALR screen, that's the cine grey material they are selling, I have cinegray samples and they don't reject ambient light like a true ALR screen. ALR material has a texture designed for UST laser projectors, if you use it with front facing projectors the image gets dimm.

The build a several hundred dollar device together...and put a 1 $ remote made out of the cheapest plastic they could find. I simply do not get why those asians do that.

To make a projector image comparable to TV during the day is absurd. Then, there's no point of going to cinema and watch movies in total pitch black. To be fully immersive, movies have to be watched in total darkness. Simply use a TV during the day. It's a total waste of money to buy an ALR screen while you can easily paint your wall, use a cheap blind or buy a white spandex screen for $20, a good 1080P Chinese projector (F30, M18, S1080 etc.) for $250 and a super wide angle lens for $20 and watch the movie you like during the night on a screen as big as you want, sorted!

I have tried many different other projectors with different screens and all I can tell you is, you get what you pay for.
