One thing that differentiates #Vivint and nearly all of the other security systems I’ve reviewed is that they offer free, professional installation. The basic security system that I originally bought from Vivint includes the SkyControl panel, security sensors, a smart lock, a video doorbell, smoke and CO monitors plus an indoor camera. Throughout the year, I added on some new offerings like the amazing Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro and the Vivint Doorbell Camera.
One major advantage of Vivint is its smart platform integrations. Not only does Vivint work with Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing for voice commands, but it also works with Philips Hue light bulbs and Nest thermostats, so you can sync your lighting, home security and heating and cooling, automating actions. In this video, I’ll also go over monitoring options, installation, customer support and finally, the Vivint Smart Home app.

@@SecurityDotOrg I have a question, I have proof that VIVINT don't work and have been paying for a security system for two years that don't work! How can I get out of this contract without canceling or costing my credit? They refuse to take the system out of my house and are demanding that I Cancel the contract, but if you cancel the contract I'm agreeing to their cancellation terms. So now I was wondering about getting people like myself who have VIVINT who experience the same problems to form a class action lawsuit against VIVINT? If your feeling the same way lets get together and do something about it.

My grandpa had the system removed and they never stopped auto drafting from his account. When he passed away years later they had drafted thousands of dollars with no system even in the house. When I tried to contact them and get this money refunded they basically told me to pound sand and never refunded a dime.

I have Frontpoint Security as my main home system, Eufy Cam 2 for front and backyard and Ring Door Bell 2 for doorbell. All are great in their own ways. But the real protection is found inside the Stack-On fire proof gun safe. I like them all.

I've had my Vivint system for nearly two years now and love it. My only complaint is that I wish they had a Floodlight camera option like the RING system has that way my house would have a cleaner look than having cameras mounted on the brick exterior. The installer was super professional and did an excellent job of explaining how everything works and even suggested we add a few more sensors so and smoke/C02 detectors so we'd be safe. I plan on connecting the sky panel to my router via ethernet that way it'll free up my WIFI connection ( my son's school is doing on line learning right now). I highly recommend this system no matter the size of your home! Thanks for the review!

They do have a "floodlight", just released recently. It's called the Vivint Spotlight Pro. If you already have an existing Outdoor Camera Gen 2, then it'll work. The Spotlight Pro is just an accessory you can put on the Gen 2 Outdoor Camera, and it adds a lot more functionality. It has many patterns on it. You can have it just turn on and have it solid, go side-to-side, strobe, or even follow the intruder. If Smart Deter is turned off, it'll work as a light so you can see more in the dark.

I would use this on a vacation home or rental such as airbnb where you can't be there all the time and they can install it for you. Solid and reliable without the issues and hassles of DIY systems.

Vivint is a completely wireless system. Meaning all sensors are battery operated except for things like cameras and doorbell

Hi! Four questions, first question, when you open a door or window does it say "Front Door Open" or "Window Open". The second question is can you turn off the microphone and speaker on the camera? The third question is, how loud is the alarm? My last question is how is the system for you? A lot of people have different opinions about this system that range from really good to really bad. I’m a sales representative for Vivint and these are a lot of great questions. The sensors have various chime options. You can set it up to with voice chime like you mentioned, along with a few other sounds. You can turn off the audio on cameras in privacy mode, but not the speaker. The hub siren is 105 decibels, which is very loud. The Outdoor & Doorbell Camera Pro models work as Siren extenders as well so neighbors hear. Outdoor is 85 decibels, doorbell is 65 decibels. The system is great for you if you love intuitive and customizable features. It is very feature rich and provides some of the widest selection devices in the industry, so you don’t need to compile a bunch of devices hoping they work together. Frankly it’s on the more expensive side of security systems, but it’s a premium system at a premium price. If you value the details, that’s where Vivint excels. With PoE installation of cameras, 2-way talk through the hub for monitoring centers. 24/7 recording on the Smart Drive without effecting your download speeds of your WiFi.

I’ve been a sales representative for Vivint for 4 years past year has brought dramatic changes in policies since the company became publicly traded, such as month-to-month monitoring contracts if you were to pay off your financed equipment early. So the early termination cost is much lower. We also offer DIY systems but it’s not advertised. It’s kind of an option we keep in our back pocket haha. The DIY system doesn’t include outdoor cameras, or automation because they recommend those for professional install, but you can get our new Doorbell Camera Pro or Ping Indoor Camera. I have had vivint about 5 years. My system is old as s*** . Not one call from the company about upgrade . I still have an old panel. My camera is a 720 camera I believe that was built by Jesus. Whole system is old and outdated. How come the company doesn't support older customers, but pulls out all the bells and whistles for new ones?

@@jamestaloopo2630 Who mentioned free? Be a close reader. I said I have not been contacted about my equipment. No courtesy to see if it is all functioning correctly after 5 years. No offer for upgrading aging equipment. I called. I was offered a new doorbell and indoor camera for a thousand dollars. Huh? A video doorbell is 150 dollars. You can get a high quality name brand camera with support for 50 bucks. Customer service and loyally is key in customer retention.

Bad Experience. I had Vivint. It simply did not work consistently. It would work for a week, then stop. From the hub, to the recordings to the app, simply did not work. The technicians were called for repairs at least 5 times and they either temporarily fix it, or could not figure it out. Other people have had a great experience but we did not. The bad part was that all though the company saw themselves that it plain just did not work, they were not initially willing to release us from the contract because the trial period was over. It wasn't until multiple calls, many visits that one person from the company came (a manager i believe) came in and saw the mess, apologized and cancelled everything.

I’m about to try to cancel my service for constant outdoor cameras going out. It’s basically everyday. I’m loved it while it worked, but I didn’t sign up for a faulty system. Plus, I paid way too much. I just hope I don’t have to jump through hoops to cancel.

You don't have the newest door bell camera. It's called the door bell camera pro. It's much better then that older model you showed. It should be on our web site. I've been a technician with Vivint for almost 3 years. They do have a DIY system. I'm not sure if it's still around. It would be a basic system with a kickstand for the panel if someone doesn't feel comfortable mounting it to the wall and fishing the wires.

Any update on the system? Literally had one of their reps ring our doorbell tonight, had never heard of them (at least didn't remember). We're not in a contract currently, but have to update our system by December with company we've been with.

@@CoffeewithGames Do not trust vivint! This is an insanely crooked company. They weaponize contracts and the salesman are encouraged to deceive. Vivints game is to lock you in a contract before you can cancel, they just want to sell you their shit equipment that doesn't even work half the time. Once you've paid off your equipment, good luck if you need anything fixed. You could have five techs come out before one of them even knows how to fix the problem and most likely they'll just ignore your issues entirely, because they got what they wanted already (your money). The salesman just make up prices at will, I've seen smaller packages go for 4,000 and then biggerr ones go for 3,000. And this would be on the same day in the same neighborhood so no sleezy salesman can say it was a discount day or something. They just make up prices and slap on extra fees at will. I was a tech and once I started doing services instead of only new installs, I was able to hear the truth from customers and see for my own eyes what a shit company vivint is. That's why I quit. I do not want to rip off people for a living and they treat their employees like shit. The salesman and customer service are all under trained and incompetent. I would have to stay on the phone for three hours just to get these morons to add a sensor to a package, because if I tried to do it, it would add hundreds of dollars to overall price! For one sensor! One time I removed a garage door opener from the package and it made the package price INCREASE, so I had to spend hours on the phone as an employee (in the middle of the install at the person's house) just to get that fixed while a customer mean mugs me. I would do services where the door sensors unlearned themselves from the panel for no reason! This happened a lot! If you can't even trust the sensors, you can't trust their cameras. Meaning if someone broke in the alarm wouldn't have gone off. This happened days after the install. The cameras go offline constantly, they don't always record events and the camera quality is terrible. Vivint does not care about their employees or customers. The salesman will make promises that are not possible. The cameras are not wireless, they use a cat5 wire that runs to a plug that is also a wireless repeater. If your power goes out your cameras will not work. If your wifi goes off you can not view your cameras from the app. Stay away from vivint. Also, the panel becomes your new doorbell chime. It's not loud at all at max volume. If you're not near the panel you won't know if someone rang your doorbell.

Vivint sales rep here. All sensors are battery operated and all cameras are hardwired. The one exception is the indoor camera which is plug and play so you can move it anywhere in the home.

So, as an Vivint owner for one year now, HERE IS THE REAL REVIEW. First, everything he says about the system is true, BUT here are the SERIOUS disadvantages and WHY I AM MOVING WITHOUT MY VIVINT SYSTEM that I paid in full for. Second, the HD and 4K cameras are VERY mediocre quality, they are B&W at night, not color, unless your yard is spot flooded with 5500k lighting. The cameras use IR technology which causes license plates to glow so forget about for any reason. Third, the motion detection is so easy to defeat, all you have to do is walk fast or run and THEY WON'T DETECT ANYTHING. Fourth, at 1:30 of this video the camera shown is HORRIBLE. It has an extremely poor frame rate and even with STUDIO lighting the color is poor. I believe it uses pixel shifting to create an upscale 1080 rez from a 480 chip. It is located with line sight less that 20 feet from the Hub. The pic that Vivint shows regarding this cam on their ad is pure false advertising. Fifth, the DOORBELL IS slow and often does not work fast enough. It is actually the best camera but it is TOO SLOW to react. I bought this system following sponsored reviews like this one. I live with 400 feet of a major cell tower, yet it says my WI-FI connection is weak. Finally, I called Vivint to complain and their customer service said everything is working fine. I think they STINK!

No way to build a system online......very lame when every other security company does it. Its like they don't think I know enough about my house to know what I want and need. I've got to call to be lured into buying items I don't want or need or they are so expensive they're afraid the cost will scare online shoppers away. Its an odd move to be forced to call to create a system.

I went with a door to door guy, he had a cool deal and he showed me everything I was getting and a breakdown of it all. Definitely not the cheapest stuff, but with lifetime warranty on all their equipment and the quality is solid, I just pulled the trigger

If you are a DIYer go with Deep Sentinel and build yourself a smart platform on Home Assistant or Hubitat. A lot cheaper, and you know what you're getting without someone trying to ram stuff down your throat. I would never pay a monthly subscription for sensors, cameras and a doorbell camera went Home Assistant is available for free with only a $5 monthly payment for Google and Alexa integration.

That is a crooked company be careful sensors will fail , cause false triggers , if your away Police will show and guess what your still liable for any fees . They will start telling you to do upgrades on system “ that’s there excuse” it’s temporary .. door works on motor that locks up Winter or summer .. customer service is very poor . They Do not honor the ceo promise . Bbb have poor rating was sued before for false practices , camera lags even with fiber internet . Notification delayed on motion and camera . I am saying this as a 4 yr customer leaving and getting simplisafe / ring . Pay monthly monitoring around 10-20 dollars from police , buy equipment from Amazon , no contract no stress and no excuses , no ripping off
