You don't need to change settings on every shot​, come on, just use different modes in different light, vivid is better for low light, also don't use portrait mode if you don't want to get smoothing, as an advanced user you should know this@@ThroughJermainesLens

I don't have any skin issues on portrait, "natural" beautification is turned on by default but after disableing it there is no smoothsjinning whatsoever.

Awesome Video, due to your review on it i upgraded from the pixel 8 pro to the Vivo x100 ultra here in the US, got tired of the Ai intrusion on the pixel. It doesnt work on Verizon but works great on T mobile. Loving the more realistic pics from it. Just wish there were more accessories for it like they have for the Xiaomi 14 ultra. Thank you man :) So for those 2, I have only used the X100 Ultra, so I feel like it would be unfair for me to fully judge it compared to the Pro. the Ultra I will say however has the benefit of the Sharpness/Contrast/Saturation and brightness sliders, this means you can tune it more to your liking :) and probably the X100 Ultra has the better zoom because well the hardware is better.

There is a bug where if you take a night photo in manual mode with high resolution turned on, the RAW file only comes out as 12MP even though the JPG comes out as 50MP. Vivo are saying they won't fix it. I think the issue needs more eyes on it,

Hi! Have you tried using Textured mode at night? My main concerns with Ultra's photos are basically the same as yours: face beautification and too bright night shots. *for video that would be stabilization of the selfie camera and loss of details sometimes at 10x+ zoom.

Yes I have it's a bit better, but still has a bit to little dark shadows for the low light feel. So that is why I use auto and adjust it where before I couldn't ^^

it really depends on the situation, I think the vivo is more consistent and I can rely on it better, and in terms of style it depends on where I am at, if I have older buildings I would prefer the Xiaomi, if I have newer buildings with no characther I would go for the Vivo, same for beach shots. Xiaomi has more soul to the shot, so it makes it better for shots that need a lot more characther, but it does fall short on the beach kind of photography or bright situations.

They are not phones I would call "photography" phones. Even more so google, they over process images, it's... Too much. It lacks character, same goes for the iPhone from what I have seen, however i have not used it so can only judge based on images

Jermaine is for phones what steroids are for influencers, a cheat code. Lovely shots man. But I've gotta say, the X100 Ultra's samples have been rather inconsistent from reviewer to reviewer, the X100 Pro seems like it got the most love in terms of software. The X100 Ultra also has poorer battery optimization, temps and battery life as well (technick's battery test). It seem Vivo were just trying to put this out just for the sake of putting this out or they spent so much time designing the hardware they didn't have the time to think too much about the software. And since it's so late/newer phones are coming, they're not gonna give it as many game changing updates. Like how Tech Tablets had abysmal shots with the Find X7 Ultra at first and now it's the overall best cameraphone if you want an iPhone type natural yet slightly saturated look. Anyways, great video Jermaine! Keep up the good work.

thing is I think with the updates I have gotten so far my experience has been nice, video needs work still, but a lot of phones do to be fair, and battery, I don't do those kinds of test as you know, I tried it a few times and I got times out of it that I would normally not get in a day to day experience, which is VERY hard to replicate of course!!! And the Oppo, yeah that one if correct is coming my way, but that will be after all those updates xD So can only judge it based on that. For me when it comes to this Vivo, the biggest thing for me it needs is that "characther" But I know fully that that is for ME, some others will not like that, will prefer the fully clean approach of Vivo, and wouldn't even touch the sliders to adjust it. @@ThroughJermainesLens hmm that's an interesting perspective. It's just that photos from other youtubers have been generally more inconsistent and less "better" than the X100 Pro. A lot of the times I end up liking the X100 Pro cus the Ultra has too much saturation and pop imo. But yeah I'm a sucker for Vivo's style but also love the fact that there are sliders to let one control stuff and get the shot they want! More of this please manufacturers! Samsung has a sharpness setting in the Camera Assistant module of Goodlock but that's too much hassle and only fixes a relatively minor problem. Vivo has done such a better job. I have a question, have you ever considering uploading some of the samples? That'd be cool i think cus youtube compression is scary lol and unless you go 100% for all photos it's genuinely tough to see how good the details are, especially at the level of the X100 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra where they're amazing and differences are not huge outside of style choices

The reason why I am not a fan of uploading my shots is because people would use it to create their own video's from it, give no credit or nothing and often sadly get more views then i would where I put in all the effort, so I do not wish to help them out to just use my work that i put time and effort in. I'm facing a dilemma, choosing between the X100 Ultra and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. I like the camera capabilities of both smartphones, but I’m leaning more towards the Vivo. However, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with global firmware seems like it would be simpler to use in everyday life. That's just my opinion, and I hope reality turns out to be much more optimistic. Hi Thank you very much!!! Ok so I heard, but I cannot be sure that android auto will be supported at some point because they are testing it out on the X100S series. This could mean it will come to the Ultra as well! Now when it comes between those 2 devices, I think most of it comes down to preference of photography, and I think the x100 Ultra has better battery life. But in terms of shots, if you like brighter less dramatic shots, take the vivo, if you want a more photography characther look then go with Xiaomi :)

Those simple manual controls in Auto-Mode, while it kinda defeat the purpose of "auto", are a great idea. So I completely agree that all phones should add that. Now, the Vivo X100 Ultra isn't a phone I'll ever waste money on (you know why). But I just found out HTC is still around. And their HTC U24 Pro comes with both microSD and headphone jack. Yeah, it's ridiculous oversized (6.8") but I'm intrigued by how the rest of the phone works (not that I expect much from HTC's cameras, mind you).

Oh that's easy, and it's nothing to do with Vivo as a brand but with the phone specs: oversized screen (I don't like phones over 6"), no microSD and no headphone jack. And before you tell me there's no phone under 6", with expandable storage and a headphone jack anymore, yes, I'm well aware of that. Which is why I've spared a ton of money by stop buying smartphones yearly (I was forced to get an S23 to replace my S10e 'cause Samsung f*cked its battery, but I'm still trying to find a way to restore my S10e and ditch the S23. Yes, but google auto doesn't work (i don't have that so cannot test), though they are working on it. But get it somewhere where they have done the job. Else there are tutorials on how to. Else i would advice the x100 pro:)
