I must definitely dig a bit deeper. Thanks for that. I didn't find it during my testing in the beginning. Perhaps it was added after an update. I have no idea. I haven't played a round in a while but I'll be sure to have a look next time.. Can you recall if it's in the watch settings or in the app on the phone

I can’t figure out how to enter the putts and GIR and Fairways hit… I see that it asks for my score right when I walk on green but when I click the score I can’t figure out how to enter the additional info that you mentioned… please help! Thanks

At 3:04 of the video he shows how to manually enter your score after each round. Enter your round score - then it will ask how many putts - then it will ask the direction of your fairway shot L/M/R. Also this all works the same on the Vivoactive 3.

You can record putts and fairways hit directly on the watch by enabling stat tracking. When on the golf app on the watch, hold down the bottom button, press 'Scoring' and flip the 'Stat Tracking' toggle to on. Then go back and enter your score and it will prompt you to enter putts and fairway hit/miss

Thanks for the review. I recently bought one of these watches for exactly the same reason as yourself. One point though, the watch will track clubs with a manual prompt. If you press and hold button B (the bottom one) and select settings, activities and apps and then pick the golf app you can check the golf settings. Inside that menu is an on/off selector for club tracking. If you’ve set your bag up in the app, and turn on the Club Prompt it will ask you after each shot for the club you used. Works pretty well as it just uses the touch touch screen to scroll through the bag and then you can tap the club used. I did come across a post on the Garmin forums where the club prompt doesn’t work at all during a round (even if it’s switched on) and the person answering said Garmin technical told them to go into the golf as normal at the golf course and then once the watch is ready to start the round, shut it off completely, restart it, and then restart the golf app. A bit odd but it works well for me. It misses the occasional prompt when the shot tracking misses your stroke for some reason but you can easily add them in afterwards in the app.

Thanks for this. Great review. I need to upgrade my old Vivoactive, which has died and couldn’t decide whether to get a general fitness watch or specialist golf watch. This has made my decision much easier. Incidentally, I contacted Garmin by chat to ask if my Vivoactive could be repaired and although it was too old to fix, they offered me a 30% discount on a trade in.

I was thinking about the a Venu Sq Golf watch but it had some pretty bad reviews. This is perfect. Now I can spend one price and get both functions

Thanks for the review. I came from a Suunto to the Vivoactive 4 and I am soooo happy with the device. It is way better than the Suunto, although in fairness my Suunto Spartan Sport was a bit older generation than the Garmin. I also chose it for the golf app, as well as for mtb and gym and I find it brilliant for all my uses. And it's a great daily watch too.

Thanks for the comment. To be honest I havent played a round in a while due to covid and all this stuff. Maybe see if there is a software update possibly. Should definitely be there while playing on the course. Was it there before?

You are welcome. Yes you are able to change the units of measurement . Either in the app on the phone or on the watch itself I can't remember exactly

Hi. Thanks for the comment. Appreciate it. It does not. There are other attachments from garmin you can buy but I didnt bother with them. Also in the app after the round you are able to edit a shot and add in what club you hit if I'm not mistaken

Yes it definitely does. It will show you upcoming distances to hazards aswell as to front. Middle and back of the green

Hi mate, great video! Does the watch come with all the courses pre-loaded onto it already? As in, can I just take the watch onto a golf course, and once I hit the golf app button it will automatically register that golf course map?

Hi will. Yes when you first turn the watch and connect to your phone and it does its syncing business it will automatically have all the the courses on. Then when you select golf it will auto pick up the courses closest to you to select and downloads it

I'm assuming the golf features on this will be the same perhaps a little bit watered down compared to the Fenix 6 as it's a much more expensive watch. The courses are loaded on the watch already from what I remember. Just have to do the software update and when you select golf it will search for your nearest course and you just select it

Thanks for the vid, well done. I used my watch for the first time yesterday in a solo practice round. My old (Golf only) Garmin had a feature of measuring a shot. Press a button and the count starts until you press it again. I actually really prefer the manual interface compared to the automatic with my Vivo. I assume there is no work-around for that feature? I'm sure I'll get used to it, just curious if you know. Many thanks!

Hey , used this watch for the first time for golf a few days ago , I didn't know exactly what I was doing with the watch at first so was going with the flow ,but I noticed when I was about to tea off the watch would say swing to activate so when you hit your first shot or even practice swing it would log that GPS point , then you would head down to your ball and you could see it counting the yards you were walking to the ball , now when I got to my ball I was wondering do I just swing again from that spot or do I have to set this point ,so when into the options section were it has your score card and green location etc , there is a green icon with a ball with and arrow and when I pressed that I could and another hit location from that point so I just kept using this option , really I was manually setting a new location every shot as far as am aware , does anyone have any information on this ,I am not a good golfer and just a wee hobby with some friends so watch is mainly used on my bike or hiking but it was great being able to tell my friends how far they are to the green ,thanks for your time

From what I recall (haven't played in a while because of lockdown) the watch should automatically log swings and store them for viewing on the app through the mobile phone afterwards where you can adjust as needed if you wish to save a card and reflect on the round. So for example if it picks up a practice swing or something else by accident along the course you can delete these points

Thanks for your reply buddy , some of our courses have just opened back up last week so was invited for a round , next time am out I will try again without using the add shot option and see how it goes , I did notice on the app it did have some false GPS shot points and I think it's when I have possibly helpd looking for a friend's ball as it was on the opposite side of fairway were my ball was but not a big issue as you can delete it , really happy with the being able to know we're pin is on a blind hole and yards to front and back of greens ,again thanks for replying and review and hopefully you will be back on the fairways soon and stay safe .

I wouldn't say that's an issue. Batteries on garmin products are pretty good and I'm assuming the battery can be replaced at a garmin rep of some sort

Howsit Ruan. I found it to be pretty accurate. I haven't been on the course in a while but when I was playing regularly I found it fine. Think if I've added a shot manually post round in the app 3 times it's alot

I don’t seem to be able to enter my course handicap anywhere before I play. I can enter the course handicap in the Garmin Golf App after the scorecard have been transferred to Garmin Golf App.

You can but you can't manually input your handicap which is annoying, it does it off the handicap it works out for you based on previous rounds. Hold down the bottom button, go to settings, apps, golf, golf settings, scoring, then switch on stableford scoring. Switching on stat tracking as well is how you get the watch to ask you how many putts you hit.

Yes I definitely am. I would love a high end golf specific watch one day but as an overall golf/all sports watch I'm very happy with the vivoactive 4. Only gripe is the screen quality. Doesn't look as flashy as some other semi smart watches

Covered in the video. From my experience at 100 percent I can get 2 rounds of 18 holes on a full charge
