Chris, one thing I would recommend is cling-wrap. The self-adhering kind is what I use. I cover my lights with it. It prevents the lights from getting dulled with overspray, and is easily replaced as often as needed. I also use it to to cover most of the interior of the booth and over the seams. Any overspray that might potentially leak out of the seems is stopped, and it makes cleanup of the booth fast and easy.

Nice video Chris. I recommend lining the inside of the booth with paper or aluminum foil (foil attracts hardly any dust). Attach with double stick 3M squares. When the paper or foil gets too grungy, simply re-line. The squares usually stay stuck to the booth.
@urbanurchin59302 жыл бұрын
You could actually even use several small magnets in each corner instead of the two-sided tape.....great idea !
@c.d.scalemodels91982 жыл бұрын
Hey, Chris here.......that's exactly what I do with the foil. I use heave duty foil & put small squares of double sided tape on each panel & cover them with foil & I try to get the foil to lay down as smooth & even as possible to avoid any "bunching up".......worth the effort of taking the time out to do that on my booth!!!!!!!!

I've got one similar to this that I use with acrylic paints, and it's great. Just to be safe, you may want to make sure the fan motors on yours are spark free before spraying a lot of flammable paints through it. I don't think the one I have is rated for anything flammable.

Question on venting the exhaust. I usually only use acrylic paints. I don't have a window I can vent out of in my workshop. Would one see the paint coming out of the vent hose, or does the filter catch the paint and only exhaust clean air?
@hpiguy2 жыл бұрын
Like I say in the video, these are not fume extractors. Those cost tens of thousands of dollars. This catches overspray. The fumes will still make it through the exhaust so you need to vent it outside or wear a respirator.

A dumb question. I have to paint in my garage. It is too cold and damp this time of year to do that. Do I have to vent it outside? Does the filter take care of the smell? I live at 5,000 feet and it is too cold to get the funnel outside. I would like to hear what you all do!
@hpiguy2 жыл бұрын
As I say ibn the video, these hobby booths are not fume extractors. Those cost a fortune and require special systems. I use these simply to catch overspray from covering the room with paint dust. I wear a full respirator when spraying.

So I know this may seem out of left field, but how do you dry your models? @hpiguy Жыл бұрын
Like I said, this is not a fume hood, it simply catches overspray. If vented out a window and sealed off it should remove a lot of the smell, but not all. You will still easily smell the paint in the home.
@urbanurchin59302 жыл бұрын
This booth looks nice and seems reasonably priced at $140 USD. But my comment goes directly to KZbin. I have noticed ( starting today ) that in the description box below the video - several of the videos that I watch consistently, and, use the royalty free background music - are showing the name of the piece of music that content creator is using in their video. I really like this idea ! After watching many videos from the same creators - you sort of relate to the same (basic) mix of music. I like the new listing of the back- ground music being used in the videos.....nice, new addition for 2023 !
@r.a.monigold97892 жыл бұрын
At 140 today - it's a bargain. Here's the MATH - 12 months of use = $12 a month 24 months of use = $6 a month/ But keep it for four years (average life of a model spray booth) and - 48 months of use = $1.50 a month. Cheaper than a DIY fan and old furnace filter - and this has popper LIGHTING !
