Little fun fact: while Flow is the first official game of TGC, exists another game before it, it's name is Cloud. Jenova and two other co-founders created it during university years, before found the company.

In Journey, there's an area like the vault. If you explore a little in there, you can find a creature that's a nod back to flow. There's also a flower hidden somewhere in the sands that will award you a game trophy.

VERY interested in a Journey series. Journey tells its whole story, while after several years, Sky is barely telling its lore. Due to the game mechanics, it's very hard for one player to take advantage of another like you can in Sky, and there's never any stressful need to farm for wax. The "honk" in Journey is officially called a "chime," but usually referred to by fans as a "chirp." Journey's visual design was primarily done by Matt Nava, who also provided his talent for Flower. Matt Nava then went on to make his own company, Giant Squid, which is working on its third game.

Isn't Sky's lore supposed to be up to interpretation? Also, it's pretty hard to create a consistent sky lore considering new seasons get added one after the after into the canon. Especially the magic elements of Season of Enchantment completely threw the sky lore into a loop

I really don’t know how to explain Journey to someone who has never played it. I have never had a gaming experience like it, ever. It truly is magical… ethereal. It takes you through every conceivable emotion. Sky tried very hard to get the same emotion but in my opinion, it failed. I do love Sky but it doesn’t reach Journeys depth at all. In the end, Sky becomes basically a social, cosmetics game and if you have ever played Journey, it kind of feels like TGC sold out for the money. It is sad bc the creators, created something beyond magical, with depth that leaves you feeling love on a scale I thought impossible in a game. It actually shocks me that the TGC who created Journey also created Sky.

I mean to be fair, it seems Sky was made for a different reason. They do have similar elements, yes, but I don't think they were aiming for the same emotion or theme. Journey is meant to capture the aspect of ruin and the feeling of being lost, while Sky was made to bring out the best in people. Sky encourages social interaction and a positive community by having doors that can only be opened by multiple people or having the option to guide another player. The whole premise and lore of Sky is to literally deliver your life to something greater. They aren't comparable in terms of emotion.

@soullessnight6539 I agree with you, Journey is really magic and it's a game that is so different from everything else that came before or after it. it's probably the most impactfull game I've ever played. Sky is a watered down mobile version of journey with micro transactions. The characters are similar, the mechanics too, the six levels of Sky are basicaly interpretations of the story steps in Journey beat by beat, they are both visualy beautifull, and I do enjoy playing sky, but it's definetly not on the same level as Journey. It just doesn't have the same hearth and depth. And Sky has a beautiful lore, but it's also very inconsistent and wastes a lot of potencial trying to be a average mobile game. My favorite seasons are the ones that bring lore and depth, like Season of Abyss or Season Aurora, but then you have other seasons that are just a new gimmick with no content, like Season of Shatering or Season of Moments. And because they need to keep this a viable mobile game with regular revenue, they need to keep pumping some empty seasons every now and then to ballance things up. Like the current season where they cleary spent a lot of time creating this new map hub, but then... it's just that. Or season of Moments where the devs spent the time on the new camera gimmick and you only have and a big empty map that adds nothings and where you'll never come back. I feel like the business model of a mobile game just wastes a lot of the potential they have for making good games, but at the end of the day is probably way more profitable then Journey ever was...

19:00 That's the place you can see what glyphs ( "winged lights") you have/missed. Also there is little lights that tell you how much glyphs you're missing below the statue when you finish a area.

I've been a lover of TGC years before Sky came out (Journey being my favorite game, and flOw being my first) Once Sky came around i was immediately a dedicated player. And once it came to playstation with the Journey pack, i got emotional and bought it immediately ! ! In honor of Journey being a forever favorite, i always wear the mask and cape. Im yet to meet another player with it (who bought it because they like journey, not just for cosmetic) but when i do i will be THRILLED

I remember playing Flow on my old PSP back then, I never understood the purpose of the game but I loved the cozy vibe and beautiful music. I never heard of Flower but I definitely know Journey which honestly I wish that it would get ported to the switch. I'd love to play Journey but maybe it's playstation exclusive that's why in Sky there's a cosmetic bundle of Journey for playstation players. I'm jealous lol

Flow’s little elements remind me of the stars in the constellations of Sky. A well as Flower landscapes remind Sky’s ones and the fact we go from flowers to flowers is quite same as spirits and Eden’s statues. Ans of course,all similarities between Journey and Sky! 😆

It's funny, I really like sky and play it everyday now but back then the thing that keep me from getting into it were most of the reasons you list at the end XD Journey was and still is my favourite game ever. and when I first got into sky I was so overwhelmed with all the UI and text and all the thing you can do, and have to do, I apreciated Journey simpleness, it take years for me to get over that and enjoy Sky as its own thing.
