Now that the latest 120amp 21101 has been released I would recommend that one. The ESC delivers the power very nicely and it has a tonne of power to boot and it includes a flysky transmitter. It still has the same build quality as the older 80amp version which is good too and parts are cheap and easily obtained.

Just got my Vkar bison on Christmas, went out for my first drive and absolutely LOVED it for the first ten minutes until it started squeeling so I took it to the work bench to open it up but every metal part around the motor was too hot to touch so I left it for a while. I opened it up and the spur gear had melted off. Got in touch with gearbest but they haven't responded...

Can you take a stock bison and just use a 4s battery and that works or will you damage the motor or something? And how do you know that the battery fits inside the car?

Me personally think this series is good, you give your honest opinion which is great, I told you my friend bought himself the Bison he got it today and he is over the moon and said he has ordered a fan for the motor (not sure what type) and the remote looks the same only the antenna is a stubby shark fin type.

hi steve! .. saw this only now and find it very helpful - thx. no idea if you still read this, but i have one major question. is it possible to upgrade the wheels (incl. the wheels themselves of course) to - lets say - the black 17 mil version of the upgraded cheetah 21101? if yes, how could this be achieved? since there is even a metal bottom plate available now, this would be more or less my only concern left about this car. .. as far as i found out, 21101 (extreme) is more xpensive and doesn´t allow to reduce max. throttle on the transmitter; otherwise i might even prefer that one. (btw. cheetahs 21101 are "discontinued" at gearbest right now, prices & delivery time at banggood seem to be generally worse. :-()

Any regular size Lipo will fit. A 3s 5000mah hard case would be great. Floureon batteries are awesome value.

Hi there, I finally got my hands on one of these and I'm very impressed. I don't know about yours or anyone else's but mine is a bit soft on the rear shocks. I don't think I'm game enough to try some of those jumps that get so high in the air yet. I think the dampening has to be increased considerably at the back, potentially the front also? Not sure to what level though - if you can assist or provide some feedback on this, that would be great. Also, at high speed take offs and with all four wheels on the ground, the back drops considerably resulting in the front wheels not having much impact with grip on the turns. Also, performing Doughnuts is not that simple either as the front wheels hardly touch the ground at full acceleration. I still love this machine, don't get me wrong. After about 5 or 6 runs, I am already experiencing a clickety rattle sound coming from where the main center drive shaft meets the differential housing. Not sure if it's stones or something else has happened. If something else, it's a bit too soon I would have thought. I haven't put it anywhere near its paces like you have. I'll have to open it up and check. Any thoughts before I begin to dissect it by opening things up? Thanks, and keep up the reviews - love them.

Hi Steve I’m new to the hobby I bought my first rc car the vkar bison 120amp it comes with the 11.1V 3500mAh 25C LiPo battery I’ve taken it out twice now but only getting around 11 min running time which on the box saying 20min did give it a couple of nice runs, was wondering if that was a normal run time with these batteries and if you can recommend a battery for me that gets more run time thanks.

I just got a new jconcepts associated rc- t3 finisher body for mine and it fits like it was made for it even the body holes are almost perfect fit.I was a little worried because it's a 1/8 scale body but it's a perfect match and the body is much more durable and the stickers look great I'll be posting a pick of it here soon

Not sure why the 120amp would be cheaper than the 80amp but I'd definitely recommend the 120amp model. Everything is the same although you will be able to run 4s lipos which is much faster over running 3a.

Hello Steve! That's an awesome review and video, thanks a lot for putting in the time and effort and for sharing with the rest of us. ;) I've been looking for a model to "enter" the hobby and it seems this will be it as all the research I've done so far confirms it should be a great buy. Nevertheless (and since it seems you are quite knowledgeable) let me ask for your opinion on the different versions going around now, with different ESC's, motors and even transmitters... Seems that Banggood is selling a version with an 80A ESC paired with a 2850KV motor instead of the original 2650KV, along with a transmitter with digital trims and other fancy (or not) features. Wouldn't a more powerful motor with a less powerful ESC basically be a step back? I've read in a forum that someone who got this version has only an average of 10m battery time, for example... Would you like to share your thoughts, please? =)

Hello mate I baught a seperate lipo 3 cell 4000mah trungy batery it ran faster on that and for longer compared too the standerd vkar batery 3500mah..the trungy batery all of a sudden has stopped charginh and my charger is flasshin 3 reds so indnt know if it has blown the charger..but the charger still charges the vkar 3500mah..Also the 4000mah trungy is larger and had to squeeze it into the bissom batery case on ther car..please can you shed som light onto this subject and also do you know wher i can get a 4000mah batery from for the bisson as it did run soo much faster than the standerd 3500mah batery that you get with the car..And should i even be using a 4000mah batery in the first place.. I just got the bison a week ago. And today I jumped it like 5 feet I guess it landed on the back or something because the drive shaft came out and the plastic chassis cracked. And it screwed up the center differential. Do you know if I can buy a aluminum chassis? I ordered the center diff. But I can't believe it broke like on my 3rd run? Why would the plastic be so cheap on the chassis? Maybe manufacture error? Idk. Please let me know if they make aluminum chassis.

Hi Steve great, honest, non biased video review mate. Made me buy one lol. I got the green Castle copy motor and 120A ESC version and I must say with a 3S 40C 4500 lipo she really kicks up a stink! I'm interested if you've tweaked any suspension points or adjustments to shock spring preload and oil weight etc. Any points of interest on the amount of toe in the rear..? Also I've been reading that a 50k center diff oil and 100k at each end dramatically helps to keep the front end down. I'm a total noob to this and I've just subscribed to your channel. Hey Craig, glad that you like the car. I have not changed any suspension components or made any adjustments at all. Definitely changing the diff weight makes a big difference. I have changed to 30k in the center and it seems more controllable.

Calculatinq Hi mate I've broken mine near where the motor mounts. As a result I kept on stripping pinion gears as the motor would flex away and open the mesh... I drive mine stupid hard and fast, though lol. Bmx jumps at full speed 😀 If driven smart and with a little more respect the chassis is sound.

Thanks! Basically a smaller ESC in a nutshell. Want have the same top speed and probably can take up to a 3s battery. The 120amp can take a 4s.

Hi Steve. After a looooong deliberation finally bought the Bison over the Cheetah. Have to say am really disappointed with my decision (not your fault by the way). The swing bar rods are really weak and the top bolts holding the shocks are too long and bend easily even after the slightest knock on the tyre. Spent more time repairing the Bison than I have using it. So far, not even taken it off road. I have a ZD racing Thunder, for half the price got twice the quality, a very rugged machine, takes all kinds of knocks and broken nothing since I've had it over 6 months.

My controller is plain black with no antenna - it looks really cheap, may be I got the V1 controller, also with throttle trim set by default at 0, the car will move forward, how to calibrate this ESC? My spur gear is making noise out of the box, I regret buying this RC.

jowowetan read your manual on how to tune ESC. mine did the same. And adjust your mesh ffs.

ELEPHT70 but mine doesn't do wheelies anymore. Perhaps mesh gear is too tight? I put some 50K and tightened it up to get rid of the grinding slipping noise. One thing about this truck is I wish it had bigger front bumper.

jowowetan Nah front bumper does nothing. You can fit a Slash 2WD front bar it fits with little trimming but it's still not wide enough to protect steering as the wheels get hit. Using a stiffer (or better reinforced front bar) will end up transferring the impact energy through the chassis of the car passing on the hit of the crash into the front diff housing or even the rest of the drivetrain or chassis. I wanted to fit Slash bar but I've decided against it. I've left it stock. I'm just trying to be a better driver lol

Have you broken the chassis? Talking with some people who own the Bison, it looks to be pretty common break point.

Dejaun Roach I say use a combination of air generator, if no air generator then a small air in a can, toothbrush, or wet naps(if electrical isn't waterproof)
