I'm glad you realized at the end that this song was not necessarily about heart break. This song is about missing/losing loved ones and friends. The clothes (which are real, y'all should check the behind the scenes) are also theorized to represent the Sewol Ferry Disaster in Korea in 2014 and represents all the lives that were lost, 300+ lives were lost that day RIP 🙏🏼 but RM said that the video/song is always open to anyone's interpretation. As a person who knows loss, this song means a lot to me and makes me very emotional and I know it's the same for others too. This song won song of the year dec 2017 at the MMAs in Korea. Thanks as always, and I'm here for Intellectual Bam with those glasses 😂😂

I haven’t seen this in the comments so: this was a tribute the victims of the sewol ferry tragedy. To my knowledge it was full of students on a high school field trip to jeju I think and the boat somehow tilted over the captain and others told the students to stay where they were while they escaped and were charged with negligence. 304 students died. It was 6.4.2016 I think

It is! She right! RM wrote this. They also each and the company contributed money to the victims of the tragedy. I think they were even new about them being blacklisted by the government because this tragedy was political, I don’t know how far this is true. This song has a lot of meaning. A lot of students died.

Just to clarify - BTS has never said it was about the ferry tragedy. RM said it was about missing people you love and could have different meanings....but it is pretty clear to most of us from the symbolism that the tragedy was at least part of it

It's actually 16/4/14 - 16th April of 2014. And the 300+ were not just students (although they were the majority) but also crew members, emergency workers and rescuers may they all rest in peace ❤️ and yes, the captain and some crew members were charged with murder and for abandoning ship... Very sad

RM himself said in an award speech that this song he wrote it in a park and it was abt missing friends. It is pretty understood that a lot of it symbolises the Sewol tragedy but it is basically about missing those whom we love that seem to have passed away considering they hang the shoes in the end. That implies it was someone who died.

4:55 "are they looking fo each other" well yes kind of, this song is not really a love song, it's more a song that referring to "a person who lost his friends" and this song was dedicate and referencing to the sewol ferry accident FYI: On the 16th of April 2014, a ferry by the name of Sewol capsized and sank. Most of the passengers on the Sewol Ferry that day were high school students from Danwon High School, who were on a field trip to Jeju island. 304 passengers and crew members died. The ferry carried a total of 476 people when it capsized, leaving only 172 alive. Yes BTS is just not make a song, they do care about what happen in this world and the people in it

*I dont really know the reason behind the song but RM was the one who wrote the lyrics of the song at a park i think (he said it in an award speech). But the song was also said that its dedicated to the tragic incident that happened in 2014 of the Sewol ship that sank losing over 300+ students, which is where the song mostly talks about missing/losing your loved ones*

You know they won 'Best Music Video' with Spring Day? It was just visually appealing and packed emotions in the right scenes and aesthetics as well. This music video was dedicated to the Sewol Ferry incident which involved school kids who were cruising on a ferry, then it sank killing everyone on board except the captain and his crew because they left them. The pile of clothes represented all the people who died in the ferry. Even in their 'Spring Day Choreography' you can see how they showcase the tragedy. Spring Day is not only about the Sewol incident, but for anyone who lost someone or has experienced a low state and is seeking for better and brighter days. Thank you for reacting

With BTS slowly growing up through this string of releases, comes the appropriate follow up to their tale in the form of the special album Wings: You Never Walk Alone, and its single “Spring Day.” the MV for “Spring Day” serves as a final wind-up of the narrative of loss and growing up that we’ve seen through the rest of the Most Beautiful Moment in Life series. This is where the group bids goodbye to the concept - and their youth - in a truly beautiful way. Following a frigid winter of teen angst and uncertainty, spring comes as a new beginning; the landscape begins to fill with new life, and new stories begin. And in true BTS fashion, they’ve managed to pull out some obscure literary references to tie into the plot of “Spring Day.” The most notable of which is the inclusion of the Omelas Hotel, in reference to the short story by Ursula K. Le Guin, “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas.” In the story, some residents choose to walk away from the false paradise to face a new world of uncertainty head on: in the MV we watch BTS finally choose to leave their youth behind and move forward into the future by boarding the train to spring. "Spring Day" music video also talks about the Sewol Ferry tragedy wherein about 300 people died, Rap Monster revealed, "I'm careful to talk about the Sewol Ferry tragedy but as a citizen of the country, I do believe we should feel responsible.", he continued, "We thought we could send our condolences if we could. We donated because we wanted to help the Sewol Ferry tragedy projects, psychology consultations for the victim families, etc.". Rap Monster also explained, "I did read a post that said the music video of "Spring Day" reminded them of Sewol Ferry Tragedy. As for the music video of "Spring Day", every viewer can have a different interpretation of the music or the music video because it depends on their mind so we wish to leave this open."

There are so many theories about their videos, but this message is as you had said. It’s about missing loved ones. Back in 2014 there was the Sewol Ferry incident where almost 300 students died when they didn’t have to, but that’s another story. It was devastating, many idols feared what talking about this would cause, so they couldn’t blatantly state it from my understanding. I guess the clothes are meant to represent all the lives that were lost, and as you had noticed, the shoes also represented death. Jungkook also saw himself on the train. Usually, to see one’s self represents that death is coming as well. Now the hotel was called “Omelas.” I didn’t really know much about it before so I went ahead and read it. A seemingly joyful town, brimming with cheer. However, this was relatively dependant on one little boy (I think...please, anybody, correct me if I’m wrong on anything). He suffered and the townspeople knew about this, but nobody did anything. That was just the order. Nobody wanted to break it. So he continued suffering and the townspeople continued on with their joyous, blissful lives. I think Jin represented this boy. Jin (the one standing at the bottom of the winding staircase) seemed to be looking up at everybody with a somewhat pleading/envious look. Everybody just kept doing what they were doing. I think this is also aimed at the Korean Government since the Sewol incident was practically NEGLECTED. They kept on with the order of things until it had to be broken for the good of everybody, not exclusive. At the beginning, you can also see Jimin (pink hair) by the sea. He seems to be reminiscing. Sorry if this actually makes no sense or is wrong, I added some of my input into here as well. It’s just a theory. Anyways, I love y’all! ♥️♥️♥️

Take a look at their making of their MVs and you'll see that almost 90% of the things u see are real from - the amount of ppl running after them in Not Today, the landscape in Save ME, the explosion in Mic Drop, the drop of the mercedes in Fire to the graphics in DNA... They mention Snowpiercer in the beginning and Snowpiercer is about a train that went on and on forever and no one could get out which is why you see them running around in the train. It matches with the song because when they mention that it's all winter there they mean they're sad and depressed and they miss the person and they're waiting for spring to come. It's a metaphor. They feel like they're stuck in 'winter' just like they're stuck in the train. Also the pile of clothes is real😂 You should check out the behind the scenes whether it's a reaction or in your free time. I like the way you guys notice so many small details. In general it's about missing someone, whether from a broken heart or someone died. But the *pile of clothes* especially is a tribute to the hundreds of people who died - many of them students - in the Sewol Ferry Disaster April 16, 2014. We just passed the anniversary. BUT BTS songs are ALWAYS ABOUT MORE THAN ONE THING. THERE ARE LAYERS. And the stories in their videos don't go in a straight line. This video makes me so sad. I love the song but the story behind it breaks my heart. Its all about the students who died on the sewol ferry. The part in this video that kills me the most is at 2:23 when Jin is at the bottom of the stairs watching the other members run up it. Jin represents the students that died, watching the others as they grow up and go on with their life while he is stuck at the bottom unable to grow up. I'm so glad you guys realized its not about relationships but about missing those who passed. its a truly beautiful song.

The one that was running through the doors and searching for other members (Jungkook) is the one who was also in train looking through the window. So basically, no one was left behind. All 7 boys were together when they saw a train passing. Jungkook was looking through the window and you could see how surprised he was when he saw himself and other members outside. It's like he thought he saw wrong because his members were already with him. You could see that when the camera went away from Jungkook other members were also in train..So while all of them were in the train, all of them were also outside at the same time. But the fact that BTS almost became "Black Listed" for doing this tribute to the Sewol where 304 passengers died. Ouuuu i see you with that new hairdo hella fresh n shit. Also: it was about this tragedy that happened on the 6th of April back in 2016. It was heart breaking, watching these videos that the students sent to their families before they passed. Saying things such as “im sorry i wasnt a good child to you”. BTS made this song as a tribute, and the dance was a representation of present times in a struggle to forget them. Which we never should forget. They could have saved all those kids, but they chose not to. Spring Day is a work of art, and definitely deserved the song of the year.
