In that sense, Hagrid would be a good person to tell drama to. He listens and reacts.....and then let's the secrets out himself so the actual gossiper can have some plausible deniability while really annoying the truth coming out.

I just watched the 20th Anniversary Special last night. There was so much adlibing in this film. When Lucius kicks Dobby down the stairs, then hits him with his cane, that was all added by Jason Isaacs. On set they thought he slipped and where going to clean the floor where he was stepping. He explained to them, no I was kicking Dobby down the stairs, then hit him with my cane. Also when he looked at Daniel, he felt he should say something, so he just said, "Let us hope that Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day." Daniel stayed in character and replied, "Don't worry, I will be." When trying to figure out Lucius, Jason watched the first film and saw how Draco was such a bully. He decided to piggyback off of that and give some sympathy to Draco's character by showing his father treating him so poorly. Tom Felton described Jason as being like Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Jason Isaacs is apparently a really nice person, but as soon at the cameras started rolling he turned into this malevolent man. In one scene that was cut, Jason hit Tom's hand with his stick, not knowing that the fangs were actually pointed. As soon as cut was called, Jason was so apologetic and wanting to make sure he was okay.

The reason Hermoine didn't hug Ron was because the young Emma Watson was too embarrassed to hug two boys back-to-back and was too awkward about it, so, after a couple takes, they went with having her hug Harry and shake Ron's hand. Also, fun fact, Dumbledore is a master of unspoken magic, and will often use revealing charms when he enters a room. This is how he knew of Harry and Ron being under the cloak in Hagrid's Hut, and it may be noticed in other instances.

SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ALL THE FILMS OR READ ALL THE BOOKS, YET! SPOILER ALERT!! ... It was my impression that, if the Deathly Hallows story is to be believed- even as a tall tale to explain how those particular magical objects came to be, they do exist- The Cloak was not "just" another rare invisibility cloak. It was THE Invisibility Cloak. And as such was not subject to most common spells, like a simple revealing charm. It was only because Dumbledore had the cloak in his possession for so long, with the chance to study its unique properties, that he could recognize when it was being used. So while it is true that Dumbledore was a master of unspoken magic, it wasn't simply a revealing charm, but Dumbledore's special knowledge of the cloak itself that allowed him to know it was around, and that Harry was under it. But having said all that, I have to admit that it's been a while since I read the books, so my memory on this subject could be rusty. Maybe it was just a revealing charm in the books... but I don't seem to remember it that way.

Rowling’s concept was a series that would start as a kid’s book and mature along with the reader… the books (and movies) get progressively more mature and darker as it goes along
@turntsnaco8242 жыл бұрын
What's neat about that too is it matures along with the main characters in a way that makes sense. During the earlier books, Harry perceives everything happening like a fantasy, a very cliche story of good triumphing over evil, etc... He doesn't even stop to consider the consequence of death, to himself or anyone else. But as he gets older, the harsh truths of the real world start setting in. He realizes life isn't simple, there isn't always an easy or obvious solution to every problem you have, sometimes the line between good and evil is very unclear, and people die, even when they don't deserve to. If anything I'm oversimplifying, I'm not about to write a whole essay about it. But it's a very gradual process, brilliantly realized throughout the whole series.

Unpopular opinion: I didn't like it when the series got too dark and serious. Goblet of Fire was the last book and movie that I liked. I'm also disappointed that Fantastic Beasts adapted the dark tone of the later films. For me the tone of the Wizarding World should be light and fun and colorful and exciting like the first movie.

I never got how no one immediately realized Lockhart was a fraud(although I'm sure Dumbledore knew from the beginning). Also, a couple fun facts: Rupert Grint(Ron) is deathly afraid of spiders irl so those forest scenes with Aragog were very difficult for him, but he pulled it off like a champ. In the final banquet scene, Jaimie Waylett(Crabbe) wasn't supposed to clap but got caught up in the moment and started to stand up and clap. Tom Felton(Draco Malfoy) noticed and pulled him back down without breaking character. Everyone thought it was perfectly fitting of Felton's character so they left it in.

I think Harry just stopped his muggle uncle from making a racial slur with that Japanese golfer joke (or rather, Dobby did it). And trust me, Dobby may seem annoying when we first meet him, but he slowly grows on you, and you begin to understand why he was trying to keep Harry safe, even after Harry had triumphed over You-Know-Who many years ago (after his parents were killed). And I really like how they introduced Malfoy's father, and they picked a really good actor (Jason Isaacs). Also, if the actor who played Lockhart - Sir Kenneth Branagh - may seem familiar, then you're right. He's the guy who directed the first Thor movie in the MCU. I'm not kidding. Even I had no clue. When I first found out that it's the same guy from this movie, I was like, "No way..." And as mentioned in the comments already, this was Richard Harris's last live-action role ever (his last role ever was an animated movie that was released posthumously in 2004, but this was the guy's swan song), as he died shortly before this film was released. As such, they had to cast a new actor for the role of Dumbledore for the rest of the sequels, and Shirley Henderson, who played Moaning Myrtle, was actually 36 years old, even though the character is supposed to be younger (kinda like how Ian McDiarmid was younger when he first played Palpatine in the Star Wars saga). Edit: Hagrid is just SO frickin' friendly to Harry and his friends. 2nd Edit: Remember what Dumbledore told Harry at the end of the first film about You-Know-Who when Harry assumed that the dark lord couldn't come back with the Sorcerer's (or Philosopher's) Stone destroyed? "There are many ways in which he can return." The diary proved that Dumbledore was right. Even Hagrid suspected that he's still out there somewhere.

Fun fact. The studios that made The Attack of the Clones and this movie got a song from John Williams mixed up and put it in the quidditch match. It's the same song from when Obi-Wan and Anakin are chasing the bounty hunter on Coruscant.

I recently learned something cool. One of the best exchanges in the entire series turned out to be improvised by Jason Isaacs and Danielle Radcliffe. "Let us hope that Harry Potter will always be around to save the day." "Don't worry... I *will* be." I remember thinking that was THE moment that Harry became a hero. And it was made up on the spot by a kid the same age as I was!

Kenneth Branagh, who plays Gilderoy Lockhart, is an established actor, director, producer, and a recent Academy Award-winning writer for the film 'Belfast '. He is also the director of the first 'Thor' film for the MCU, and the voice of the Asgardian calling for help at the very beginning of 'Avengers: Infinity War'. He was the second choice for Lockhart, behind Hugh Grant who was too busy. Branagh is best known for his Shakespeare films like 'Henry V', 'Much Ado About Nothing ' and 'Hamlet ' as well as 'Mary Shelley's Frankenstein ', 'Dead Again ' and 'My Week With Marilyn'.

Happy b-day VK! You've almost made it to the quarter pole. If THOSE people don't want Harry in the house why would they make it so hard for him to leave. "Is there something you wish to tell me." So many secrets. So many secrets. Richard's quiet portrayal of Dumbledore is pretty much by the book. Michael is much louder from now on. Hermione likes Ron. She really likes him. Being brilliant, she also knows how Ron feels and she wanted to avoid Ron having a "situation" arise. Toilet girl has a Dr who episode where she sort of gets turned into a paving stone. Girl just can't catch a break. Prof Lockhart sort of sucks as Hercules poirot. LOOSHUSS Malfoy plays an evil fellow in "the Patriot". Plays hook for Peter pan. Has made nearly 100 movies. The dude is not afraid to work. Think he would have made a great James bond. Daniel Craig got the role and killed it. Snape has a cute film called Bottle shock about the rise of the California wine industry. Hagrid plays a nice pseudo villain for James Bond. James works well with nice villains. Dumbledore gets beat up by Gene Hackman in unforgiven. Works with aboriginal Americans in a man called horse. Plays a southern gentleman in major dundee, helps/hinders Harrison Ford in patriot games, was the good Ceasar in gladiator and and and sings in Camelot. Had a hit song McArthur s park. The dude worked in films since the 50s. Oops I did it again. Wrote a frickin essay and can't remember why. Happy birthday sweetie!

You’ll definitely notice a darker tone in the films moving forward. I think Chamber of Secrets was written with the intent of giving Harry and Ron “more to do” since Hemione kind of carried them for the majority of Sorcerer’s Stone. I definitely agree it’s the weakest one of all 7 books and 8 movies. It does a decent enough job in expanding the lore of Hogwarts and issues in the Wizarding World such as discrimination against half-blood and muggle born wizards, and the enslavement of magical creatures to rich pure blood families.

18:20 One of the things that you have to keep in mind about Harry is that due to the way that he grew up, it's not his first instinct to trust adults, even if something is wrong. Also, he is afraid of what people might think if he tells them that he's hearing voices that may or may not even be there.
