It is true Vlad would dip his bread in the blood, his tactics was to instill fear, Vlad was a very underrated tactician himself who stood toe to toe with the strongest and largest military in the world at the time and outsmarted and out maneuvered them and made their lives hell for years

There is a famous woodcut style portrait that showed Vlad Tepesh eating on a banquet table outside, viewing a Forrest of impaled soldiers while he dined. This was a common sight through out the Wallacia kingdom, where his subjects could easily find themselves put to the stake. Vlad was a big believer of law and order on the Draconian level. An example, in the center of a wallacian town, where the public drinking fountain would be, there you would find a solid gold chalice that was for anyone to use, but No person would even dare think to steal. That's how terrified the vassals were under Prince Vlad Tepesh!!!
@silviughindoc60393 ай бұрын
only the thieves were terrified! as for the second day after the death of Vlad that chalice was stolen...in those times humans only listen to fear and brute force...Vlad used this fear propaganda to keep the streets safe and the country free of otomans.

A lot of the most heinous things Vlad ALLEGEDLY did were written about in German newspapers(they were actually woodcuts but basically the equivalent of newspapers of the time). There was an ongoing trade war and actual war between Vlad and German trade guilds in his kingdom so most historians think the Germans exaggerated the real things Vlad did. One example, he DID have lots of people impaled but dipping his bread in their blood is considered to have been made up by those newspapers to make him look worse. There’s also a story from later in his life when he was imprisoned by the King of Hungary that he would catch and impale rats and mice. These stories were spread by the Hungarian king and most historians believe they were made up so the King could use it as leverage over his neighboring kingdoms, i.e. basically telling them that they’d all better behave or he’ll let Vlad out of prison. In summary, yes Vlad was pretty violent, but in reality he wasn’t much more violent compared to everyone else during the Medieval period

This episode was so fail. The Zhu Ge Nu (aka the Chu Ke Nu) was named after Zhe Ge Liang. Zhe Ge Liang was born around 700 years after Sun Zi (aka Sun Tzu). They sort of just put random weapons from ancient China's different periods and attributed them to Sun Zi. Such bro history. But hey, it was still a fun watch for our brains when we needed to relax and not think.

When the history channel was actually based. To answer anyone’s question, yes Vlad actually took punishment of crimes extremely seriously as you could imagine like burning a barn full of people with disabilities and that’s arguably the nicest way he un-alived people. To put it in perspective, he made the ottoman’s troops march through literal forests of impaled corpses. Yes Sun Tzu wrote the art of war, Vlad Tepesh wrote the book on utterly mind f**king his enemies into psyop oblivion.

PS. we should also consider the chinese drama skills...everything its out of reality with them...sun tzu is no different. Vlad could very easy kill any chinese of that time...EASY !!! :)))

In a one-on-one fight Vlad’s going to win 9 times out of ten. Assuming Sun Tzu was a real person and not a pen name, there’s no primary evidence he participated in frontline combat. On the other hand, there are several primary sources about Vlad getting his hands dirty. But if we have a scenario where both are leading armies against each other then it’ll be REALLY interesting because both were masters at unconventional strategies and tactics. Honestly in that case, it really could go either way

Vlad would win for several reasons. He was used to fighting armies larger than he had, and had strategies and knew how to move supplies in order to do so. He was larger, well trained and was not likely to be frightened by his opponent. That sort of thing matters in a fight. He was also well educated, and had likely read the Art of War, or something similar. The "Son of the Devil" thing was actually spawned by his detractors; and Dracula isn't a surname, it's a title.

This was well done but there were a few problems with this episode. 1. The recurve bow used by the Sun Tzu team was light, you could see this by the way it was drawn, finger and thumb on the arrow. 2. Sun Tzu would have used the Halberd as well, 3. All weapons should have been tested on the armour 4. Shields should have been tested with the medium range polearms 5. I know some people were not doing as much research on flaming arrows at the time but they are constructed differently than shown here. Additional point but not necessarily problems. The Jian can cut deeper if done properly. This was demonstrated by Jason Heck with the Espada Ropera. Problems with Vlad 1. They definitely should have included his cavalry in the test. 2. The hand cannon was used in ambush and I believe in carts at time for swift movement. This was more common with Jan Žižka but if I recall correctly Vlad used it as well. That said it was pretty entertaining but not too surprising of an outcome. I agree that Vlad was good at guerilla warfare as well, though Sun Tzu gets a lot of credit for it. Vlad also led from the front and fought in personal combat more than once, so a one on one gives him a large advantage. Sun Tzu stands a better chance army vs army, Vlad better one on one.

I seen this episode many times already. One thing I learned historically about Vlad was he has many legends about vampires plus his sword was said to be much longer and bigger than the Kiji sword. According to my college friend, Vlad's sword was said to be much more gigantic and it was said to be a two handed Flamberge sword which can take down multiple opponents and it can be used for impaling too obviously. As for Sun Tzu, for Chinese weapons, I know China had way more longer polearms such as the Dagger Ax Halberd or the Glaive (Kwan Dao) Type weapon, and they also had a longer jain sword too. Also we don't know if Sun Tzu really did exist at all. If this battle were to happen in real life. My speculation is that it most likely be a very bloody drawl. It would also depend on what strategy Sun Tzu uses in countering Vlad's attacks. Although I have to give the slight edge to Vlad because he is way more brutal than a war strategist and can win easily. I would actually be more afraid of Vlad than Sun Tzu. In the end yes Vlad would technically still be the clear winner.
