I was in the infantry. I also have competed in combat sports my whole life. From wrestling to muay Thai to MMA. The military gives you little to no experience in hand to hand combat. The only guys who were good at fighting in my unit were combat sports athletes turned soldiers. From rangers to Green berets. I don't know about the CIA because that's a whole different department but I'd assume it's the same when it comes to hand to hand combat. Could be wrong I guess. In the military at least, it's much more important that the soldier is proficient with their primary weapon system.

Agree. Although now a days is more common for soldiers, specially SF and Ranger dudes to, at least train BJJ or MMA on their free time. So they make up for the military's lack of training in that area. Army Combatives sucks balls, I am Combatives Level II and I was taught by literal white belts. And the Marines MCMAP also sucks balls.

As a former Cold War warrrior I can tell you it's about 50/50 in real life. As for weapons the CIA used MP4's and MP5's as well, there was the MP5K briefcase machinegun as well which was really nasty.

A good idea with the shoe knife would be to just kick the Achilles tendon. You don't need to know how to kick, you can do it super stealthy - just walk up to them and use that momentum, and while it's not a kill shot, they are done. Without an Achilles you've got no leg to stand on.
