Actually in my point of view, she repeatedly said this because his father was the "evil hybrid" in everyone's eyes. Everyone (Alaric) constantly reminded her that. And because of that image, she said it multiple times as no humanity hope or when she did something terrible. And, in the beginning, she hid her identity from people as everyone knew about him from a book that Alaric wrote and kept in Salvatore school. Even in the beginning of the show, the first line she said was "From the beginning, we are taught about the distinction between a hero and a villain. But what if the real difference is who is telling the story"
