Part 1: • Morris Day on Joining ...
In this clip, Morris Day spoke about the star studded cameos in the "Jerk Out" music video and how the group disbanded soon after that time. Morris Day explained how his life took a downturn after the band parted ways. He said at his lowest point he slept on his sister's apartment floor.

@@JohnSmith-ez8dn what are you talking about. Most actors have absolutely nothing to do with the creation of a project. But if you have a larger role or an extremely popular part, it’s not unheard of to get a bonus if the movie was successful. That’s what he’s talking about. He’s not claiming to have written or produced it. You might not understand this. But it doesn’t matter how great a script is, or a director, or photography or anything else. The main thing that makes a movie are the people acting in it. Every part is important but the people acting in it will make or break any project.

A Tsylor And thats why the contract is signed before shooting begins; had he known the character portrayal he played would be a hit he would’ve asked for said stipulations but since it was his first movie and no idea he signed and got paid what he was supposed to get! Hindsight makes geniuses of the dummy in all of us! The genius and most part wealthy in us is the visionary and those with foresight which obviously wasn’t him but the man behind the mask!

I met Prince years ago in New York. He had a 3 night stand at Radio City Music Hall. I worked across the street from there at record company, was on a break and saw him standing near 30 rock which was right around the corner, I looked at him and said "Whats up Prince", and he said "whats up brother". That was it...he was cool. I'm sorry to hear he was a bad friend though.

I went to visit my sister in Minneapolis and as it ends up, she had been friends with him. She basically knew just about every celebrity in the area due to the fact that she was the booking person for the big arena in Minneapolis. She introduced him to me as "Prince Roger". (He wasn't super famous yet) I would have thought him gay but that little dude had like 3 super hot chicks with him. He's like 5'3" and had girls treating him like he was an alpha. It was the first time I had seen a super tiny effeminate man with that much game.

The idea of being the symbol instead of Prince was great idea. However, the execution of that plan wasn't very good. His sales dipped and he spent the next few years dabbling in obscurity and musical purgatory. He was pushed off the radio and no label would work with him. He struggled to find other ways to put out his music but ended up signing with Arista in a big money deal for one album.

I remember my father (R.I.P. Dad) in the early 80s use to know I listen2 a lot of Prince music. He ask me one time, why do I liked his music so much... but one thing he said to me about Prince back then, that I wasn’t aware of, because I was a kid then. He said, “he would hate to work for Prince because he looked mean & very controlling.” I never understood how he knew this about him when he never listened to his music at all. The only reason he was aware of Prince was because of me listening to his music and having his poster on my wall in my room. My father passed away in the late 80s, but it still puzzled me how he was able to read Prince personality just by looking at him.

Respect to Morris. I always appreciated his talents in Prince's various productions and it's good to see him here. Not very surprising to hear this about Prince. As much as I miss the little genius, let's not forget that being a god at doesn't mean you're likely to be a swell, down-to-earth guy (which Morris apparently is). I could easily pick at Prince's faults all day; they were numerous and well-documented. This was a fair, believable story and I enjoyed it.

I can see you there. There’s a lot of talent in the world. But you can’t tell me that there’s anyone in the world that will make the same exact music as me or any other individual. That’s why art is beautiful. Everyone has their own take and no other person can create the same exact thing as that person organically. I just wish the people who don’t create were more appreciative of the art that is made. But a perfect world doesn’t exist and we have to make it work! 🤙🏻
