So 2 weeks into my ownership of my new 890r Duke, thought I would do a
video of the TFT screen and how to operate it, settings etc, favourites and quick selector buttons. Suggest you grab a cup of tea........same for the 790 Duke too .

Great stuff! I've been trying to get the odometer on the home screen, now I know why I can't. It would have been nice if some of the button clicking had been a bit slower. Overall very useful. Thanks.

Hi no problem, it drove me nuts for a few hours at the start too!!! There are a few other little gems, like once you start moving some of the menu option lines disappear and only return once you've stopped, ie quick shifter and the drl's to name but a few .Ref button pushing just be thankful its not one of the new Africa Twins, that would take a Netflix series to show those menus etc!!! DRL video is next on my list as this seems confusing for some!! ride safe

You could put a small piece of black electrical tape over the light sensor on the TFT screen. That should put it in night mode all the time.

You would think with all the electronic stuff , IMU etc KTM would be able to add tft selection mode night or day !🤦‍♂️ agree tape would work but come on KTM ….

I bought a 890 Duke R a week ago at 270 mile the TFT screen tuned to a blue green tint instead of the crisp white. The dealer called the KTM tech line they claim they have not seen the issue before. Anyone else had this problem? It also tripped a repair code since but that went away when I restarted the bike. I have owned a lot of Japanese bike for 15 or more years that never went back to the dealer. "Premium European Brand" is a oxymoron for sure. I had a gut feeling about the quality of KTM. They need to hire some Japanese engineers! Also my 890 Duke R has a terrible amount of engine clatter sounds like it will self destruct!

Ah ha . The engine clatter is terrible but it’s the KTM sound . Hope u get the screen sorted ASAP. Agree with quality control . I took a punt on the brand and really like mine , but quality needs to be upped, a few scratches on the swing arm exposing bare frame WTF . My Africa twin has been off road and only marks are from where I dropped it !! Off to Wales Thursday and rain forecast so Africa Twin being called up from the reserves bench !

lol...I've only put something like 350 miles on the thing.Simply the most fun I have had on a bike. Just had a ride out with a chap that has got the full Akra system on his 890r with NO baffle and my ears bled!!!! Weather here in little Jersey is simply stunning and it was great to get out and have an ice cream too. I think i can forgive the little darling for any leaks it may throw my way, its that good. Is it me or does the 890 attract older riders wanting to relive their youth ? lol...

@@gsd32i Not sure, I'm 56 bought an RC390 about 3 years ago (I've owned 3 6's) I put an RS660 on order in Jan 2020, then covid came. Never wanted a Duke but a New '18 790 was at a bargain price and the rest his history now lol

Nice Video. Did you have the Tyre pressure sensor added before the first Tyre change for convenience since you live on island between France and England OR just wanted to have fully loaded bike from the start? Secondly, would you recommend KTM my ride and Why or why not. Great VLOG!

😂 no problem . I was suffering from COVID fatigue and just chucked the KTM power parts catalogue at the bike . The mechanics thanked me for having to take the new tyres off to put the tpms on the wheels !! Love the bike and it’s nearly run in , 600 mile service next week ! Doing lots of videos, as doing sod all flying in my airbus around Europe, so needed something to keep me busy ! More videos on the way ref KTM 🤪

It’s the KTM power parts screen , not the really small one . It seems fine although not been away touring with it . Does throw a bit of headlight back onto the screen at night . For a naked bike etc there is buffeting but again I haven’t tried it at higher speeds due to local speed limits being low! Away on it next month touring in Wales so I’ll do a video of that 👍

Lol 😂 it’s an older Mark Marques Shoei that has been replaced by my Arai tour x4. As it’s over 10 years old so should t really be using it but just wanted to see the difference between an adventure style helmet and a sports helmet on a naked bike .

Hı, I just got my KTM 890 Duke R. (Last week) I also ordered a windshield and ergo seat(20 mm higher).How did u like windshield and ergo seat? Was it worth buying? I wanted to buy an ergo seat especially I’m very tall( almost 6.3/ 1.92m).

Hi . Those parts were fitted before the bike was collected by me from the showroom so I don’t know any different !! Screen for what it is does a pretty good job and the seat is ok . It is definitely a bit softer and feels a bit more plush. As far as comfort goes it’s all a bit subjective, road conditions , suspension settings etc . For me the seat is fine and I’ve been out on the bike for a couple of hours and my behind has been ok . Some people find the standard seat fine!!

Could you compare the Honda engine to the duke r ?

Pretty simple , Duke has way more punch as it is way lighter …….BUT the Honda is way smoother and quieter . At very slow speeds there is less tendency to chug with the Honda . Both different engines with different character .

@@gsd32i i didn't enjoy myself with the Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports 2020. But not convinced that in town the duke 890r IS a fair choice

@@rufusa048 I certainly wouldn’t use the 890 as a daily commuter into a city with traffic jams as it does generate heat around the legs when the air temperature is , say more than 18 degrees C and you are doing lots of stop starts . I have ridden several BMW GS’s , but not for me I have to say . Good luck on your bike quest 👍
