Love your saying, “Many hands make light work.” So many of us were raised to be independent and not to look for help from anyone. It can be a lonely existence. You are blessed to help others and have so many to help.

Showing you and your mom fixing your brother's blanket was so helpful! My mom made my daughter a blanket but I think she used inferior thread and it is coming apart. I want to reinforce the seams by topstitching but I struggled a lot keeping it together even with pins. The safety pins are a great idea, all the way through. I would not have thought of that. And yes, it is a 2 person job to get it through the machine, I was so sore after I did the first line of sewing by myself!

I’ve had to start limiting the grains and starches I eat completely due to bowel trouble (insulin resistance and leaky gut)... so I don’t even eat gluten free alternatives these days... I have to avoid seed oils like canola oil and sunflower oils as that seems to hurt my guts too.... bacon, eggs, salad, fresh fruit I can tolerate.

I've always wondered how you choose the meals on your menu. Since you feed so many people, how do you accommodate so many tastes? Especially older people that will only eat traditional food, with no spices.

I LOVE your mukluks, are they like snow boots? That's what I wore most of the time when I was in MB (Winnipeg/East St Paul) in 2000/2001 (fall to spring). I loved it too by the way. I by far prefer the colder weather. It's cold where I now live (Ballarat, Victoria Australia) but we don't get much snow here. Where I used to live on the farm (Bodallin in Western Australia) it was very hot and dry. We farmed 15, 000 acres (small by local standards - most were 30,000 - 60, 000-acre properties) with a 9-inch annual rainfall - well, I did say it was "dry." The highest summer temperature was 51.8°C/125.24°F, the average was 48-50°C/118-122°F. Winter temperatures were colder at 15-25°C/59-35°F on average, along with whatever little rain we got. Sometimes we got a lot (floods) and sometimes we got none.

I looked on the website and started to research the history of the Hutterites. I think my grandmothers grandfather, and possibly great grandmother (not sure) left German area in 1870 due to religious persecution and went to South Australia. I wonder if they were Quaker or Mennonite, or Hutterite.

Okay, I’m going to ask... why do Hutterite women wear the dresses the uniform, what is the cultural context? Who came to this idea that that’s the suitable uniform for females in the colony and why do you all maintain it, what is the core belief... I’ve seen several correlations to Hasidic Jewish approaches to uniform choices and divisions of work and society like males and females eating separately during main meals.
@ldp67883 жыл бұрын
Are you allowed to trim clothes or blankets, baby clothes etc with ribbon? I see most of what you wear is not trimmed but your newer blouses do have some decorative trim on the sleeves.
@gisellewaldner94063 жыл бұрын
we do it mostly on baby clothes, blankets etc. there are ladies and older girls that add it to the hem of their skirt but, most of us prefer not to as for blouses almost anything goes but, then if you add too much it can also look ugly its really personal preference.
