VLOG #51 - Grampians HIGHEST Point HARDEST Track

It’s our last day 4WDing in the Grampians and we set out to find the highest point fir a chance to see snow and then what is called the hardest track, named Launders track. Things start out pretty tame and I’m wasn’t even going to sit down, but then it got slippery!

Need to make a comment here. After posting this video I learned that this track was actually closed and is only opened seasonally. There were no signs saying this and there was only a gate at one end. We entered to the start to this track via a wide open and very well used opening. I do not condone driving on seasonal tracks and advise all to respect rules around such tracks. If I have offended anyone, please accept my sincere apology. No 4WDer wants tracks to be locked up.

Why do the front two datsuns always back off throttle when they’re trying to climb a small step etc. Over and over doing the same thing. A Little bit of Momentum is your friend…

Just an observation from someone that drives a manual - seems that at several points your mates in front seem to lose momentum at just the wrong time as they come off the throttle. Seem to be lightly prodding the throttle throughout rather than just trickling through on steady(ish) throttle. But then my GU probably has a tenth the power of yours so I’m sure it’s horses for courses! :-)

Jason, spot on. Steady throttle allows traction control to figure out what to do. Steep incline, locking up brakes going back sliding looks dangerous

Yeah, kind of frustrating to watch...except for when it works. Not like my old Chevy GU. The Dash Patrol seemed to make it all look a lot easier.

The car struggle on the muddy hill climb because they are running way too wide tires. This cause no pressure enough tire-ground to have good grip. It also seems that some guys release the throttle at the wrong moment causing the car loose momentum

So, if I buy an Armada from US, can I put 35's on it?And an ARB Front diff lock. You kinda complicate things. And FOX or KING'S shocks. I don't haul anything. Yes or no? And what do I need if I decide to put 37's? Point by point, please. The Ukrainians from Werewolf 4x4 they put portals on Y62. Would I have the same speed on Highway? Would it be possible long trips on portals? And cost, portals they have a 14-15,000 $ price to put 38.5 with a ground clearance of 450mm.Thx mate.

I can’t believe how hard you made that look I went up that track at Easter in a stock discovery and didn’t have lockers but walked up it with a bit of spotting. A lighter 4wd though I would of been 2300 kgs or lighter might make the difference . By the way I love the vids you put out I reckon the sales of the y62 has been inline with the success of your KZbin channel your passion for the y62 has helped the brand along to the point they are selling these things 6 or 8 or 12 months later I saw one in a local yard with 9000 kms on it with a sticker of 149500 word is they want one so people will get to test drive and if someone wants one so bad they will pay for it keep it up thanks

Yeah, weight has a lot to do with it, these cars are close to 4t, the grey one is over 4t

@@DASHOffRoad that is nuts but I guess if you want everything but the kitchen sink it comes with a penalty is it possible to make a touring y62 and be under 3.3 tonnes there you go your next project. Have you seen the new warrior it looks awesome and payload is up from 724 kgs to 952 kgs I reckon they sell those 1500 in no time I wonder what a warrior patrol will look like if it looks anything like the nav I’m in catch ya later

Amazing how all three vehicles drove into the rock step with the diagonal, lost traction and just relied on diff locks to move on. You will never learn to read and pick your line if you simply err on the magic switch all the time. And why the following vehicles did not learn from the mistake of the car in front of them just bewilders me? Talk about making a meal of an average track.
