Vlog 64 My 1st fishing tournament and some R&R with the wife in Clearwater Florida.

In this video, the wife and I take a little vacation without the kiddos to clearwater beach Florida. We enjoy some time on the white sand beach's and some delicious food and drinks.
On Saturday I had my 1st ever fishing tournament. Rakfishing.
I meet up with a subscriber and friend and we try our best.
Unfortunately the water was dirty and the conditions got worse and windy,
I had one big blow up early on my topwater. Also a giant tarpon eats my pinfish but tosses the hook.
So all I was unable to catch the targeted redfish and trout to get on the board.
to bad it wasn't a catfish tournament as I caught over a dozen catfish
I almost won the smallest fish with my 7" ladyfish but i lost to a 5" pinfish caught.
May have not done well in comp, but had an amazing weekend with my wife and met many new people.
I definitely plan to do this again and visit the Tampa bay clearwater area again

Haha you ARE fishing in my tarpon hole. North of that spot is good grass. Did you see that boat at the southern end? He is at a creek mouth (the only way into one hundred miles of dredged channels) created by the native Indians filled with shell mounds for their homes. It was an ancient city back there which you can still see using google earth . So actually there is 3 creek mouths back there with fish constantly in and out depending on tide conditions. If you had gone under the 4th street bridge instead of I275 you would have run into deep grass and big trout. Instead you are sitting in 15 feet of water and a dredged bottom that's what the tarpon like. That's why there's only a couple buildings on the horizon (looking south) that whole area is a preserved ancient city amazing to look at.

Oh wow. Thanks for sharing that history. Ya, the water was dirtier then expected and wind picked up...so really didn't have an idea where the fish nay hold. That's definitely a tarpon hole. I saw some massive ones there. Did get 2 of them to eat...just couldn't get them to stay hooked. Wish I had more time to explore. It went fast. The whole trip was busy, but...but fun fun...I definitely plan to go back eventually. Thanks for sharing that history of the area. I love that kinda stuff.

I saw the guys on that boat throwing live bait at that creek mouth but they didn't catch anything. Definitely looked like a good spot.
