Girl all of the plants you got can go on the balcony and then come back inside when it starts to get cold :) when I was in flower school one of my instructors was telling us that she brings ALL of her houseplants outside during the summer. If your pots have drainage holes on the bottom, stick the plant in your shower and let the water run through the dirt, washing away any little bugs that might have gotten in there for about 15 minutes. Then the dirt has been “cleaned” and you can bring them back in for the fall. Hope this helps!! :)

My Plant Recommendations: i have herbs like cilantro and basil and mint and chamomile growing on my apartment balcony they are sooo easy to keep alive and you can use them in recipes and tea so the are functional too :) you should hang fairy lights in your balcony too! that will make it feel cozy and magical. i love my little balcony set up. love you Linds!!

Hey girl! Does your balcony receive full sun? If so I recommend choosing some annuals! You can get them in 4 packs and so on and plant them in a cute exterior container! Some full sun annuals that thrive in Boise are zinnias, snapdragons, cosmos, dahlias etc.. I am a plant science major so I always get so excited when you show your plants, lol. Also for your philodendron make sure it does not receive excessive sun, they tend to like bright indirect light!

A solution to watering your big plant could be getting a saucer or tray for it to sit on and collect the water that drains out! I just dump the extra water out after!

I also questioned why so many cute flower pots didn’t have drainage holes. Recently I figured out it’s because you can keep the original plastic pot from the store (called a nursery pot) and then you stick that whole thing into a cute pot with no drainage hole. That way, the plastic pot drains into the cute pot. Ok that was so long winded but I just wanted to share lol. Love you Lindsey & happy planting!!

The prickly pear cactus can actually be cooked and eaten! Definitely a few episodes on chopped with them using it and some other challenge cooking show. I learned these things just grow randomly now in south Florida and I liive hahaha ilysm❤️❤️ lover the podcast this week

What did you mean when you mentioned “water exploding in the (clay) pot?” If you mean how it’s wet and soaked at the bottom that’s totally normal for clay pots! Its just the extra water and it will either dry out in the clay, or seep into the soil. Not the prettiest, its all per preference 😊
