I’ve been on a weight loss journey While taking GLP1 medication for almost 2 years. I’ve lost 131 pounds so far with 30 to go. the first year I ate a keto diet since then I have been on a carnivore diet for almost a year now. The GLP1 medication helps with the food noise. I physically have felt my best on the carnivore diet. Each person has their own path to health, the combination of carnivore and GLP1 has been working for me.

I am so happy you're talking about this (GLP-1)! I just love watching your stuff that i didn't even read the title. To be honest, I was feeling sort of sad thinking thatbyour content may not be 100% relatable to me as I did not have the success I was hoping for. I felt like I was going to have to give up my carnivore peeps because most, if not all would just dismiss me because I decided to give tirzepatide a try. After 1.5 years on carnivore, I gained 20 lbs. I tracked, counted weighed, high fat, high protein, exercised, fasted and so on, and yet scale just kept going up!! I have been diagnosed with Hashimotos. Despite eating my maintenance calories or in a deficit, I still effing gained. I finally went to my doctor over the summer regarding my weightloss resistance. Fasting insulin: 2.3, fasting glucose: 76, A1C 5.0, HDL 80, Trigs 43, thyroid numbers on point, so wtf??!! He said, well, you're eligible for the injections. Initially I was offended! So he referred me to an endocrinologist, she ran labs, everything looked great and she too suggested the injections. But she also referred me back to my naturopath. Frustrated, I went back to my naturopath (which insurance does not cover) and expressed my plight about my the other doctors pretty much not having an answer to my weight gain and only reccomending glp-1 medication as their solution. And to my surprise she says she uses them in her practice too! Shr discussed microdosing and supplementing with the proobiotic akkermansia. So that's when I started my research. Even though my labs look good (even had my leptin checked, vitamin d, sex hormones etc) I must be dealing with either too low of insulin or some sort of insulin resistance (all my weight is in my midsection). So medications like semaglutide (glp-1) and tirzepatide (glp-1 and GIP) are agonist drugs, meaning, these peptides act like hormones that bacteria in our gut make. These hormones (messengers) interact with our brains in phenomenonal ways. So yes, you can have a deficiency in a certain gut microbe that produce these enzymes or hormones that our body needs to activate insulin properly or suppress glucagon etc. Honestly, people can have a lack of certain microbes that help support the production of Serotonin that can ultimately lead to depression. So long ass story short, I did a crap ton of reading and decided to give tirzepatide (this is a dual agonist peptide, glp-1 aka ozempic/wegovy is a single agonist peptide). And I gave not had any negative side effects! I have so much more energy and it helps me to eat in more of a deficit (1500 cals as opposed to 1800) I still am mostly carnivore...more "ketovore" meat, eggs, veggies and some fruit. But honestly, I would love to know how your friend is doing on this medication while carnivore! Anyway, I find it wild that just a month ago, I decide to go on this direction and then one of my favorite carnivores is open to talking about it. Thank you for being so vulnerable and saying every step of your journey! I have enjoyed your content so much!

I have MS, and other challenges that make weight loss difficult. I’ve been doing keto/carnivore + Wegovy and I’m not sad about it. Thank you for being so open and real with us! When i see a weight gain on the scales, i have to control myself from going full maniac panic mode, searching out the next big thing or cure to reverse it. Some people have found the magical fix using the GLP shots, and yet others *like my husband, ended up having horrible stomach issues that are still remaining (even 3 months after he stopped it). I believe we all have to figure out what will work for us, & screw what anyone else thinks about your own decisions. Life is full of adjustments. I'm just thankful that you bring us along *Your journey! At some point, we all will have struggles. Thank you again for your open candidness! ❤ PS = Happy Turkey day to you and your family!! 😊 🦃🍗

I love your vulnerability and honesty. Do what works for you! It makes for fun watching the trolls freak out. 😁 I’m definitely not making huge gains (losses?) in the weight loss department myself…. But then again, I did get pregnant from eating meat-based (had to be, 4 years with no effort to prevent and pcos numbers otherwise) so my keto/carnivore journey will look different. Just happy to watch a regular human go through similar stuff and troubleshoot together, so thank you for your channel. I must say, it was great getting work done with Dr Cywes, the carb addiction doc. He’s hilarious, and gave great advice for eating this way while growing a baby. Happy to find a provider who didn’t shy away from carnivore during pregnancy! He honestly believes I can only gain the baby weight and lose fat otherwise!! And to date, I’ve either dropped 2-3lbs, or stayed right where I was and I’m 26 weeks now. So I have to have somehow lost a little and gained baby at roughly the same time to do that. Very happy! Not so happy that I’m still 250ish, but happy that I haven’t skyrocketed. 🎉 I’ve only been strict carnivore the first month or so I tried, 2 years ago. But I’ve been falling forwards towards meat based ever since and my body is obviously reacting to carbs stronger than it did before, so I’m glad for that because it helps me not binge too often because of how bad I feel afterwards. I don’t take meds, but I understand if there are those who do. Like I said, test for you, tweak for you. The most I do, is iodine, d3/k2, dha, and occasionally, use the Stelo cgm. It’s been really helpful to actively see how I react to stuff. Cheap, too. Comparatively. Praying for you and best results!! Happy Thanksgiving and may we all beat the holiday odds. 🎉❤

Carnivore and using GLP-1. I’m truly insulin resistant, it was a total game changer for me. Try it, it either works or doesn’t but it won’t hurt you. I’m with you. I don’t like having to put all my recipes into carb manager. Especially when I substitute ingredients each time. And, no, there are negative reports coming back from the GLP1 receptors. Gastric stasis, increases the number of fat cells, and you must stay on it as long as you don’t want to gain weight. When you go off, the increased number of cells get a lot fatter.
@CourtneyLuna3 күн бұрын
I hear though, that the negatives are when one is using a higher dose, not so much the microdosing. But that could possibly not be accurate. I do worry about the things you mentioned!

Devine intervention! 🙌 Also, we have the same body type and I struggle just like you. I can't get past a certain point as well. And! I've started doing 36 hour fasts once a week (just finished my second fasting) it has gotten me down to my all time low (only by one pound) and it's staying off. And you and your husband have a similar relationship as well. Like the fasting...... men are wired emotionally unattached, so their fasting experience is more mechanical. They just "Do It" you and I are all emotional about it 😂. As for the GLP-1, check out Pendulum Probiotics. My doctor turned me into them, it's based out of San Jose CA. It makes me sad when people, mostly women, have maybe 10-15 pounds (or less) to lose and the scale stalls and they turn to the GLP-1 drugs. I know it’s a mind game with the scale and weight! I think it can be a very slippery slope. Anyway, of course everyone will do what they are comfortable with but hate that the industry allows this drug to be used by people who truly aren’t obese. Love you Courtney!! Love your videos and your cookbook is wonderful!!! Thanks for all you share and do. 😊 And you really look great!
@AdrianKGledhill3 күн бұрын
You should check our Dr Tyna Moore and Dr Amie Hornaman’s podcasts on these. They talk about the reasons someone can’t lose that weight and it’s not due to lack of effort. It’s due to undying issues that often don’t show up on bloodwork. And this actually addresses that underlying issue as well as so many other issues. It’s really not a drug, it’s a peptide mimicking peptides in our body. Collagen is a peptide. Insulin is a peptide. It’s similar to taking thyroid or BHT in that it’s supplementing something off in your body. I think your mind will be blown when the truth about these comes out. Are they being used incorrectly? Yes. Are they evil? No. You can actually heal without losing a single pound.

Hi Courtney! I'm 72, T2 diabetic for 25 years (!!) and obese. Working with Dr. Rob Cywes, who strongly recommended that I take semaglutide (ozempic), so I'm doing that. It's beginning to work. Yes, our bodies do make GLP-1, and semaglutide is an "antagonist" for it, which means it increases our output of GLP-1. There can be ugly side effects on higher doses, but I am NOT on a higher dose. Taking it primarily for my high insulin / insulin resistance, but also beginning to see weight loss. I wouldn't take the drug just to lose weight, but people I love are dropping like flies from T2D. Hope this info helps you.

I have heard several doctors say women, especially those who haven't gone thru menopause, should not do extended fasts. Just wanted to share my experience and possibly inspire someone to research further before trying it. Side note: a spiritual fast is different. I'm just referring to extended fasts for weight loss.

Just my opinion, stay away from any medication if your doctor hasn't said you have a disease and you will die without it! So many problems and effects with a short term fix to loose weight. Doing it the hard way is not easy but your health will thank you. I'm trying to do my own healthy way of eating, vitamins and minerals, etc to help with my auto immune disorders. I don't want to be on medication, my body is designed to heal and if my doctor says I'm going to die without medication then I will consider meds for a very short term adjustment. Also remember it took u us long time to get a body in the state it is in and it's going to take time to heal.Just my opinion
@AdrianKGledhill3 күн бұрын
I think she is doing it the hard way and it’s not working. We’ve been lied to and told this is a drug. A drug is cholesterol medication. It’s not natural to our body. GLP-1 is a peptide - which mimics what is in our body. A lot of things do not show up on blood tests that are in fact present. I know I went to the doctor for years with symptoms of hashimotos and was sent away with Zoloft. Unfortunately, our medical in this country is not good. 🫤

Glp1 is something to deeply RESEARCH. The two people that I know that we're on it for an extended period of time one of them was told she needs to be on it for life or she'll gain back so now she's on a very small dose , forever, because she actually got too skinny and they needed to give her less dose and my other friend went off of it and gained ot all back plus more. It's very similar to the rage of the diet pills in the 80s. You feel amazing on them but the long-term is the problem Just watch the video that Tucker did with the guy that worked for the company concerning these meds. I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pool unless I was morbidly obese

Agreed research is needed. Check out the Mark Hyman podcast with Casey Means and Dr Tyna Moore and watch to the end. She actually works with patients. Casey does not. He’s treating this like it’s cholesterol medicine which it is not. Cholesterol medicine is not natural to our body. Peptides are natural to our body. It’s more like a hormone. We supplement testosterone, progesterone, estrogen etc all the time in people who can no longer produce it and it changes their lives. And yes, they have to take it for life. And they wouldn’t change it for a second. I highly suggest after the Casey/Tyna debate you head to Dr Tyna Moore’s podcast where she lays out why standard medicine is doing this wrong and how to do it the right way so you don’t have side effects, maintain your muscle and heal yourself. It’s game changing for people.

Do u use iodine? If you're not treating thyroid you will def gain and struggle to loose. I love GLP-1 meds. They have numerous benefits. Personally it was very tolerable and helpful. And have u ever had fasting insulin checked? Lot of carnivore docs talk about it.

I have seriously considered taking the glp1 but I am a bit afraid. I would love a boost to lose 30 lbs so I don't feel like garbage. It would help if I stay carnivore for more than 2 days at a time.

I take trulicity for severe insulin resistance and it’s been SO good for my glucose levels. It didn’t do much for weight loss because I’m on insulin as well, but the goal is to drop the insulin and go high on the glp1. I did have to stop it for surgery and was off for about a month in total and I saw super high blood sugars return even on keto. I never lost any weight due to the insulin.
@CourtneyLuna3 күн бұрын
So crazy how it can do that!! That’s why, for me, I’m interested because it’s so much more than weight loss. It’s the whole glucose/insulin side of things. Thank you for sharing! 💜
@kelley82233 күн бұрын
@ I think there’s a lot of benefit to taking even just a very low dose of a glp1. You mentioned Dr. Tyna and she actually changed my mind on them. I was very against it for two years and my diabetes got worse despite exercise and eating keto or carnivore. My blood sugar never went down, even with insulin. But the glp1 has been key. Wishing you the best of luck with it! It definitely does quiet the food noise, among other things.

Men are so funny.. total opposites to women, which is how it's meant to be, but it's hilarious to see the contrast at times. xD! Btw... You always look beautiful, so don't worry about that one bit, silly lady. YAY for the cookbook in stores!! Congrats!! As for the GLP-1.. I am someone who has an extremely screwed up metabolism. So I understand your struggle and because we live in a world where we're exposed to so much that naturally works against our bodies... ...sometimes our bodies likely do need help. That is my thinking. I wish it wasn't so, but sometimes, it makes sense that we might need something more. Whether GLP-1 is the answer or not for your body, I do not know. How you choose to deal with your own health is a personal choice though and ultimately, you do what you feel is the best path for your body.

Just like salt and fat were demonized, so have these peptides. Did people over dose themselves here and there? Apparently yes. But overall, these side effects are rare and are due to too much medicine. You should check out Dr Tyna Moore’s podcast. She has a playlist telling the truth about how medicinal the peptides are and how all the negatives are due to overdosing. Even the standard schedule is too much for many people. And then they aren’t being told the necessity of eating meat and lifting. Dr Amie Hornaman also has a podcast on this. It’s crazy how we are, yet again, being lied to about something that could help and heal so many people. 😢

You're welcome. I am one year carnivore now. Have not lost any more weight while on carnivore, but have gained loads of muscle that I had lost and have no more pain issues, no more IBS, no more arthritis. I am also slowly resolving my bad case of eczema and hopefully in the next year or so, reversing my type 2 diabetes. At the age of 64, I have apparently tortured my body for too long and it is taking a long time to rectify that. I am OK with that. I have learned to be patient and as I wait, I am just joyous at the ability to do things I used to do once more. I think one of the coolest benefits of carnivore WOE is that my eyesight is getting better and my grey hairs or going away.

These can be GLP1 inducing foods Eggs, Chicken, beef, and other lean meats, Fish (salmon, mackerel, sardines), Greek yogurt (unsweetened), Protein powders (whey or casein-based) Also we were talking in one of our lives the other week that they are looking to lower the threshold of Pre Diabetic A1c to 5.5 which is worrisome to me, is it because they think it's really too high or they just want to open up more opportunities for meds?

You’ve been “carnivoring” for quite some time now with different approaches. Seems, it’s just not working anymore. I wonder if you added some carbs, you would see improvement with your hunger signals, and subsequently weight loss. With All these carb imitation meals you make, maybe that’s what you need. Ted Naiman talked about it. Ironically, as someone who used to have poor control around junk food, after the whole keto/carnivore rabbit hole, adding a small amount of whole food carbs back actually improved my hunger signals. I gained weight on carnivore because I would overeat on fatty meat, butter, bacon, etc.
