Good to your doing well, been following you for a will , just had total hip surgery on my left hip 07/27/21 been 3 weeks now, no more pain i got my life back! I agree with you with your take on physical therapy , started doing everything on my own after the first week and now i no longer need a cane. And im able to take long walks , getting in and out of bed is easy taking shower , driving getting dressed. I could even tie my own sneakers , I have always been flexible and my body remembers that and you should know. every patient recovery is different , i walked into surgery in very good shape and by body remembers, now i know having hip surgery doesn't have to be scary, im pain free and i got my life back!!! PS. The only time i use my cain is when walking up stairs , and that's gonna change soon,! 💘

Yes, my hip pain was horrible walking bone on bone is very painful ! I work for a union construction i couldn't do my job no more , just walking to my car hurt and if i had too carry anything made it worse, arthritis was eating eating me up, i started to become useless it was taking my life away, I would wake up at night knowing i can't live like this no more , having the surgery. changed everything!! So keep up the good work and let everyone know they don't have to live with that pain. 💘

I’m 4 days out from hip replacement. I watched lots of vids prior to surgery and it looked like it would be a breeze. I’m telling you it has not been a breeze. It hurt like hell. It hurts like hell still. You won’t be dancing out of the hospital. Be realistic. They’re cutting through bone, muscle and tendons and those things will hurt. If you’ve ever broken a bone that’s the intense pain you have with this surgery. It’s healing slowly just like broken bones knit back together.

Would have been useful to know what New exercises you progressed to. I'm at week 3 and I'm increasing my routine as I feel I could be doing more physio before increasing walking. I'm on one stick now, but could not manage with out it.

Thank you for your input! They started me out on a sit-down elliptical for about 5 minutes, I did 5 minutes of leg presses where I laid on an incline and used my own body weight. They also had me doing calf and hamstring stretches and the a balancing exercise. I did this for like 3 weeks (not counting my at home PT). Once I said something about being ready to do more, they added clamshells, bridges, and squeezing a ball between my knees.

I am four months, post posterior hip surgery and I’m wondering when can I bend down and cut my toenails?
@ImMerelyMelissa
@ImMerelyMelissa Жыл бұрын
I would say four months is far enough out where you can do that. Of course, definitely ask your dr as he knows your recovery. I was probably super conservative with my range of motion because I had heard horror stories of it popping out. Haha.

I am 32 now and thinking about taking this decision. I started to have pain and difficulty to walk longer than 10 minutes without stopping. Are there any limitations do any activities after one year of recovery for example? Is that true that you cannot take stairs anymore? Thank you.

I have never heard about not using stairs anymore. There are no limitations that I know of. Now, it’s been over a year, but this past summer I went horseback riding for the first time in MANY years!

Did you finish your physical therapy? I feel like I might should go back to PT for a few sessions for my right hip. It has been aching and I think that sometimes a little extra PT helps.

Same. I’m six months post hip surgery and since 4 months post op the opposite side of my lower back has been hurting and I feel like it has to do with the new hip leg is slightly longer than the other leg. Still doing PT and back at the gym doing all the things altho the back pain isn’t related to that exercise
