I’m an average South Korean scrolling through youtube, and I randomly found your channel. You speak Korean like a native!! I know you have probably seen this same comment from people of 10 different ethnicities a million times, but I’m leaving this comment just to tell you how genuinely impressed I am and how talented to you are. 형님 존경합니다

I speak 4 languages, Cantonese, English, Mandarin and Korean. Korean being the last one to have picked up at my early 20s, yet becoming the most fluent amid all. Ugh I wanna meet this guy in person. I have so much to share, how being an introvert makes it even harder to conversations or easier to daily life. How it feels of being a multi-lingual person living in an almost-monologue community, or to constantly question myself whether i could ever find my soulmate in this world, having to face a similar situation or the sympathy towards such, as i see it as one of the most important qualities to treasure in a partner
@Soffenoffe
@Soffenoffe 2 жыл бұрын
Oh hey, I relate to this SO much, that part about wondering if I can find my soulmate in this world, someone who I imagine would be curious of other cultures and languages like I am. I spent years learning Chinese (I started aged 24) and living in and exploring different regions of China, often being exposed to ethnic minority languages that I now love. I tried for a while to learn Tibetan, but didn't see much point in learning Standard Tibetan as I can't freely travel to Tibet, rather I'd like to learn the Tibetan dialect spoken in the Amdo region that I can visit freely.

Your vids really are inspiring! I'm focusing all my energy on Arabic at the moment, primarily on "Fus'ha" or Classical Arabic and seeing other people study keeps me going. Also now that you have a taste of the Arabic alphabet, that opens doors to Arabic (obviously), Farsi, Urdu and then by extension Hindi (for speaking). Languages are truly amazing!

Dude your channel should be a lot more popular, and it can be a lot more useful. Adding simple videos of how to say "I love you" in 10 languages or "thank you". Make it funny, act how people in different language argue, or flirt, or shop. It would peak the interest a lot more, reach to a wider audience. Best of luck, rooting for my fellow Asian brother

You're a genius. I think out of all the people in the world, you're one of the most wise of our time. Sadly, it doesn't take one to know one, but I hope to get there one day. @ErikUden
@ErikUden 2 жыл бұрын
@@phoenixhou4486 Well, you speak many languages! I think the current minister of foreign affairs of Germany (Annalena Baerbock - green party) just made the CEO of Greenpeace International a state secretary, so an American, and because she also speaks German it was an easy decision. What I mean is that your opportunities are quite limitless and it wouldn't just be the Chinese government that you could work at! I think this very much is possible for you. I think your moderate approach is exactly what we need in our divisive world. Knowing enough about the other side to interpret other country's actions from a mindset that only someone from there could have, instead of seeing it through the lense of your own country and culture is a quality very little politicians ever possessed. We view things through the lense of our own culture and nation all too often, for you to be in charge of anything related to foreign affairs would be the most valuable asset a country could have to build bridges, instead of burning them down. As far as I understand the Chinese political system (and I don't), you'd have to be a member of one of the eight parties to become any government official, hence I can see why you wouldn't want to do that given what you previously stated about your political ideology, yet I wasn't even referring to China at all! I think you could be employed in some government organization (if you even want to) in any government of the world. Maybe even on the U.N. level or some EU government... I mean, I really cannot see how you wouldn't be the most valuable asset anywhere you'd work. But again, only if you want to, I could just see how helping to communicate between the cultures and civilizations of this world may help you see more purpose in having learned all of these languages. The last video of yours I fully saw was the already quite old, but infamous, “Learning Languages Ruined My Life” video, and I am quite glad of being introduced to a struggle that I was blissfully unaware of, to the extent that you are experiencing it, at least (I am a German native, but lived in the U.S. for a while) yet I would think that maybe in order to feel better about having the burden of this knowledge that you possess, you'd have to find a larger platform to share it and draw consequences from it. You see how many cultures are similar, how many times people repeated the same stupid mistake over and over? You've seen how narrow-minded, short-sighted and limited the world view of many people is that grow up and view the world through their one nationalistic lense, so best you can do is be a communicator between two or more sides, no? To be honest, I just find it a shame that most people in the U.N., or any government position, really, know, at best, one language. Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Olaf Scholz, etc. Whatever you think of politics, but in our global world, any world leader should not just know one language. I really hope you can higher the bar a little!
