Well, one thing you said was wrong - you are most definitely a fashion expert!! You have the most impeccable taste in clothes and everything you wear is fantastic!! And it doesn't hurt one bit that you're simply stunning - with or without makeup. Don't apologize to anybody for who you are. Those that judge are usually not happy with themselves anyway.

Every time I watch a video of yours when you talk about your inner thoughts, it's like we share a brain. I'm not even kidding! I find myself saying, "uh-huh...yep...exactly..." every time you share your feelings. I feel like I'm constantly having to invent ways to speak nicer of myself, to myself and it can be exhausting, but I make myself do it! And like you, most of the negative feelings I have about my appearance came from someone ELSE noticing them for me, and pointing them out. Even my bunions!! Lol! So sad how we hold onto the negative comments. For what it's worth, I think you are so GORGEOUS (even with no makeup), so CLASSY, and so RELATE-ABLE! I love your vlogs! 🤗💖

Jenifer, I know what you mean! I have a mean girl in my head that talks too much!! And it IS exhausting to constantly have to quiet her by talking OVER her, but you're right, we have to keep doing it to make her, hopefully, eventually, GO AWAY :-) Boy, I never, ever, have noticed or seen your bunions. You're so pretty all over. Period. Thank you for being such a sweetie to me from the moment I arrived at KZbin. You really are a great lady.. I LOVE your vlogs, too. ~ Janis

I totally relate to this video. The makeup, the feet issue...I’m so glad you brought this up. The first man I ever loved told me I had guy toes because my toes are long. I wouldn’t wear sandals until about a year after we broke up. Now I wear them all the time and I keep my feet pedicured but still I look at them and think “guy toes” at times. The little things that people say to us...I pray that we would all remember the beautiful things people say to us instead of the bad.

I cannot think of a single reason to say something critical about someone's appearance. My ex-husband made such remarks, and I was so young that I internalized his petty meanness. When someone makes random negative comments it is a reflection of who they are, but it can take a lifetime to convince yourself of that.

Okay ladies long toes in Greece is consider elegant, and if you have a long toe that crosses over you are royalty. So beauty is a variable. Some of the most gorgeous people have the most awkward body parts separately but we come as a packageand that is the beauty and uniqueness. Think Sophialoren, Julia Robertson and many more. Ladies God knows what He puts together, it's awesomeness. As for any bunions, although genetic it's triggered by lifestyle, check our Fred Bisci and other nutritionists. Anyway, the point is your innerself and smile is the best part so top yourself off with the best smile. Check out the best on Face Yoga by Fumiko, they are wonderful.

This same thing happened to me in way. When I was in upper elementary school or junior high, my family started teasing me about my feet, saying I had "tall feet." I got really self conscious about it for most of my life. My dad kept it up for years. I am 5'4.5 and wear size 7.5 narrow. My feet are normal, yet I envy women my height who wear 6.5 or 7. Then there are my ears. My ears are undeniably big. I never knew this until I was in college and a friend oiff handedly said I had elf ears. She didn't mean any harm in her comment, but the scales fell from my eyes and I saw how big the were. I wouldn't wear my hair up for a while after that, but I somehow managed to stop caring. Yet I hate my shoe size. Funny isn't? I also had a huge bump in my nose, that looked boxy and started looking witchy as I got older, When I was in college I would drape my hair around my face to hide my profile. I felt almost sub human most of my life because of my nose. I had a serious inferiority complex. When I was 44, i got the bump removed. i look exactly the same from the front but have a "normal" profile now. I know this is rather sad, but i was not able to get over my complex and I knew I never would. Anyway, thanks for sharing your own story. It resonated with me.

I really liked your honesty here. Today I went out without my makeup except lipstick (much like you). I asked my daughter if I looked awful, she said I looked fine but, like you, I generally never like to see my bare face when out and about. You also mentioned feet too, I have horrible feet with bunions... so it was kind of cute to hear your thoughts on it all. Isn’t it odd how we all take to heart the horrible stuff people tell us but rarely believe the compliments? I think you look amazing by the way, I am 50 and was looking up natural makeup and happened upon your channel. You are very inspiring, thank you 🙏🏻

Longtime viewer here...First, you are so pretty with or without makeup. No one is perfect, and we are often too hard on ourselves. (In fact, you have inspired me to, occasionally, go makeup-free.) Second, thank you for sharing what you're learning. Very much enjoy hearing new information and perspectives. Finally, thank you for the work you put into your YT videos. I always look forward to them.

Hi Janis This video really hit home I started with acne at about 12 so I have always been extremely self conscious about my skin . I would never go out without makeup even to the grocery stores or errands .Last year I did start wearing no makeup when I'm home or doing errands and like you I felt like everyone was looking at me . I also wear a size 9 shoe . You look great . Have a wonderful week

I enjoy your stories...we all have stuff to work on. My cousin told me, right after high school (I'm 71) that I had underdeveloped calves. She had been into dancing and thought she was body perfect, I had been a cheerleader which only developed my lungs, lol. Her comment always stuck with me. My mother said not to think about it but I have for years. No exercise has helped my calves. Now I don't care but I did when I was 18 yrs old...why do we care about what others think?
@janheard3826

Becky jumps Yes, I know exactly what you mean when you say the comment your cousin made “stuck with” you. I remember when I was in my twenties I used to get people coming up to me in the street asking me if I was a model or that I should be a model but despite the outward appearance I was a mass of insecurities. There was a girl where I worked (who, incidentally was no oil painting and had rather a hunch back) who took it upon herself to advise me that “you have a high forehead, unfortunately “. I was terribly hurt and I’ve never forgotten her comment (actually I don’t have a particularly high forehead although it’s got higher with age). The thing is, when I look back on it I can see she was just suffering from green eyed monster syndrome as probably was your cousin.

Hi! So appreciate your comments regarding makeup. I'm 55 years old and this summer threw out all my makeup. I really like how I look without it. I just didn't see any reason to wear it anymore. It's so much easier to get ready for my day now 🤭 Your comments about your feet echo my experiences too. I'm 5'10" tall with a woman's size 13 shoe size (I wear a men's 11). Unlike you, I hated my feet as a child because they were so different from my friends and I also couldn't find cute shoes growing up. Now I'm only wearing running shoes. Life is simpler for me and I'm happier. Thanks for sharing your experiences 💖

From personal experience, I find myself most critical about how I look when I don't spend time outdoors doing physical activities I enjoy such as gardening, walking, etc. Skipping exercise also brings me down and I get depressed sometimes. When I jump start my activities my disposition changes dramatically. Praying for me is also very cathartic. Yoga gives me balance both mentally and physically.

I think you are stunning. I am 44 yo and recently a couple of young guys tried to come on to me and when I wouldn’t acknowledge them they called me an old lady. 10-15 years ago that would have killed me. But at 44 I cracked up laughing and walked away. I realise what people say is a matter of opinion. They may think I am old and someone else may think I am young someone else may think I am fat. basically, they are all opinions and none of them are true unless I believe them. They are maybe true in the eye of the beholder but my opinion is what matters in the end.

I live in the city and work out several times a week first thing in the morning. I shower when I get home and lately, I will only put on a little moisturizer and that's it. If I go out, I might put on a little lip color. When I was 13, a neighborhood boy called me ugly. Yes, I was going through a gawky period but what he said was terrible and left me feeling horrible about myself for a long time. It was my first lesson in how words can cut and we all have to be mindful of what we say to one another. You are a lovely woman and your inner beauty emanates in your physical beauty. Thanks again for another thoughtful vlog.

I loved this video. I think that a lot of women need to hear what you said. I’d much rather a woman realize she’s beautiful than than try to change the way she looks through invasive surgery and procedures. I love makeup but it would stop being fun if I felt like I was ugly or unpresentable without it. I don’t wear it most days but enjoy it when I do. I don’t colour my grey hair because of beautiful women like you who show us how chic and lovely we can still be. Thank you.

You are gorgeous with or without makeup. It really does make a difference how we feel inside. I do what makes me happy but usually that means I wear a little makeup when I leave the house. I remember when my daughter was about 4...she asked why I was painting my toenails because it was wintertime and in Toronto that means wearing socks. In other words we won’t be seeing toes for a while. I explained that I’ll be seeing them and the bright polish makes me smile. Thank you for your wonderful videos.❤️

Just found your videos. They are so refreshing. This one really made me smile; no make-up and feet. LOVE the topic as I could very much relate. You are beautiful with and without. Four years ago I moved from FL to Utah. There is obviously a difference in climate. It was nice to see the Naples Whole Foods. It brought back some memories. My brother is currently working there. He was a pro golfer for years but is working at Whole Foods at the moment. I think he loves it. It would have been funny to have seen him in the background. Anyway. Thank you for putting yourself out there and being your beautiful self.

Janis, I look forward to your videos and learn something each time. You have inspired me to go grey. (I just started this process.) I started to cry when I listened to your feet story. I too have bunions - severe bunions. I remember as a child looking at my grandmother's feet and her telling me "your feet will look like this someday". They do. My bunions are so severe that my left big toe has pushed the next toe over on top of the middle toe. It is so difficult for me to find shoes. I never wear any type of shoe that exposes my toes. Thank you for being vulnerable with us, which allows us to open up and share. It is healing. Hugs from Chicago....Nancy

I am so touched by you video. First, I want to tell you how beautiful you are, inside and out, and to let you know that I think your skin AND your feet are just fine and you don't need to ever do a thing. I commend you on being so honest. I have a birthmark on my lip since birth which makes me look like I have cold sores. Like you, I am no longer self conscious about it and, frankly, anyone that is bothered by it can just go on with their business! My toes have hammer toes now and I do not care who looks at them or what anyone says. My toes deserve sunshine and fresh air and that is that!! Thanks for this video!!!

Hi Janis, I can totally relate to the no makeup thing. When younger I wouldn’t go anywhere without makeup, even to mail a letter. Family would say “your not going to a beauty pageant “ LOL. It changed when I had a baby. I wouldn’t have gotten anything done if I had to take time for makeup. Now that I’m older I still go without most days. After layering all my anti aging products on , makeup is just another unnecessary step.

This was so interesting, I loved the longer length and natural nature of the whole video, very nice to see the inside of wholefoods, not many of them in the uk. You do look lovely with or with out make up, as you look healthy, which is the most important thing. We are all floundering around to some degree, it is good to hear normal people’s views on food and health, make up, clothes etc., because most people are trying to sell us something! Looking forward to your next vlog 🤗 wishing you good health and happiness.

I still feel the sting of a comment from my dad and some jeering from teenagers on the ski slopes...these incidents both occurred in my "tween" years and I'm now 59! Hi, Emily! Yesss, it did feel like I was being stared at, and of course, I understand. It's definitely unusual to see someone standing alone in a grocery store, talking to a camera on a stick!!!! Thank you for encouraging me not to let it stop me! Also, thank you for saying my feet are lovely and fine! Hugs ~ Janis

Well I'm a 36 year old man and I think you look very attractive without makeup and I think that those imperfections make you more attractive. Imperfections is something that happens with age so its natural and beautiful. So I agree with your husband, you don't need makeup, you look sexy without it. :)

I am 59 and up until a few years ago I wore makeup every single day. Now I only wear it if I’m going to an appointment or dinner, something like that. It’s kind of liberating not being so concerned about what people think anymore. I get it that I’m kind of invisible now that I’m older and early on it bothered me. Now I don’t care. I interact more with strangers than I ever did before. Guess I just don’t beat myself up as much as I used to. Thought I had to look perfect. Now I know it really doesn’t matter. There are some good things about aging.

Such a great honest video. I wear no makeup at home or shopping, but cant bring myself to go work without makeup. I'm working my way up to it though by gradually wearing less and less. I NOW only wear mascara, minimal eyeshadow and makeup only on my cheeks.

You are beautiful without makeup… little tip to look even better: do a color analysis and find your best colors. They would match perfectly with your skin and bring the color back in your face. I saw several videos of yours were you wear black and I thought to myself: black is definitely not her color… the color analysis was a game changer for me. I look and feel so much better in my best colors

Totally understand what you mean. My toes are crooked and not straight and my whole life I have been told I have jacked up toes. Even my husband says I have jacked up toes and does not like it when I wear sandals or any shoe that shoes my toes. I will be 58 in a week and still dealing with this.

My dad always told me that I was ugly. I believed and believe it all my life. My husband, friends and even strangers tell me that I am beautiful. On good days, I agree - but to overcome the influences of the parents is very difficult and the uncertainty for a lifetime is a burden.

Honestly - you are beautiful, and have no need for make up. I have stopped wearing make up as well. The only make up I apply is lip stick, and occasionally mascara. Part of me attributes this to a confidence I’ve attained with maturity. I can’t hide my age. I have gained too many wrinkles and truthfully feel more foolish under make up 😀 just like I stopped coloring my hair, and like u, I am now a natural salt and pepper gray. I am who I am, and accept my imperfections. I love your Vlog, and thank u for sharing 😁

I love your videos. I love the views of Naples Florida too. I used to visit a friend there and always loved it. I'm 70 and I've been losing weight through Weight Watchers for a year now. I've lost 55 pounds and am finally at my goal. Needless to say, I've been buying lots of new clothing and you are inspiring me. I want to say, that not all ankle boots look good, even if they fit. I have tried some on that fit my feet and still looked huge to me. Other styles, I can't say what the difference would be, but they don't look so big. So, my point is, it's not your feet, it's the style of the boot. So don't be so hard on yourself. You are amazing.

Mary, wow, congratulations. I'm sure you worked hard to get to your goal weight. I'm so happy for you. You are truly inspiring. You show if we set our minds to something and keep at it, even through the toughest times, we can succeed. How wonderful! And also how fun that you now have a great excuse to buy pretty, new clothes!! I appreciate your input about the ankle boots, because that was my instinct. I went on to find a pair that I think look flattering on my feet. I think you're right in that it has to do with the style of the boot. Thank you for your kind support. I appreciate it!! Hugs and you go, GIRL!! ~ Janis

I'm 5'9" and wear a size 10 shoe and have since 10th grade. Last fall I was trying on lace up ankle boots and my husband was with me. I was mortified that I had to buy the 11! My husband brought me back to earth by reminding me that my feet had not grown , the shoes ran small. By the way, I love wearing my very comfortable boots.

Big hugs Janis...you look just as lovely with or without makeup...I, too, would not have been seen dead 20 years ago without my makeup on as I was so scared to be seen without it. I was a makeup artist on the weekends to Brides (specialty bride makeup). While I worked in the Corporate world during the week as a senior executive my outlet was makeup on weekends....I began NOT wearing make up as I did not want to compete with or be a distraction to my lovely brides....as I got used to being 'bare' faced, I continued no-make up Sunday's too and began to see my skin improve from the break....I still love makeup and still use it, dress up and look, I suppose, prettier when I do (in my eyes) but not in the eyes of others or my husband. I think color like lipstick, blush do give you a bit of health so we don't look so tired but all in all, we are who we are, with or without a camouflage...makeup can enhance, it can cover up, it can hide and it can camouflage but it cannot outshine who we are inside and that after all is what real beauty is, the light inside shining through....you have that light sweetie...you shine warmth, kindness, honesty, gentleness and beauty...Hugs

Love the video because you put your vulnerabilities out there. Since I was a teen, I have been 5' 1" (ish), petite, 100-108 pounds. Attractive (and told beautiful and stunning). Until I was in my "40's" and had my "enlightenment" - two words repeated in my head about myself: Fat and Ugly. I have NO idea where this came from and it was like a subconscious belief - not even anything I was super aware of. One day when I was in my 40's and in my car, I looked at myself in the mirror, which I did constantly due to my insecurities, and the thought fat and ugly came into my head. THEN something magical happened - another voice said "you are not fat and you are not ugly." The voice was very matter of fact. It sort of took me by surprise. I believe it was the spirit of God speaking truth to me. It was at that moment when I became aware of the subconscious belief that I was fat and ugly. Every since then, when the thought came into my head, I knew it wasn't true and I stopped believing it!!!! Thanks for your videos!!

I came back to leave one more comment of thanks to you. I have never really worn "make-up," meaning foundation. I do have sun damage, I'm 56 so my skin is not perfect at all, but every time I try some sort of foundation or BB cream or whatever, I just think it looks wrong. I do wear a little eye make-up, cheek, and lip, but that's it. After thinking about this video you made, I have decided that it's ok to just be me in my bare skin. I'll just keep on using my oils and butters and be satisfied with who God made me. Thanks again!

Thank you for such and honest and helpful vlog. I have the opposite problem. I feel my feet are too small in proportion to the rest of my body - so I always feel envious of women like you who look good in delicate sandals and shoes - which I feel make my feet look even smaller. I wear Birkenstocks and other chunky sandals in the summer and Ugg boots in the winter to even out my too small feet!
