Hey Bob just want to say thank you to you for being such a big inspiration to me for 20 years since I met you in the dorm practice room @ Berklee. You introduced me to Chris Potter's music and give me lots of tips and pointers on how to get my saxophone technique up back then. Was so excited to see you rocking out on stage with Chris and snarky puppy at the festival. Great books! I've only scratched the surface of Tools of Titans, but it's full of greatness. Something I just learned about procrastination - it's often a result of not having small enough steps. Too often I'll have a goal like "update my website" or "practice for an hour" or "book a gig" - but they're not something you can just do, so I end up doing something easy like clean off my desk or organize my bookshelf. The best thing to do is make micro goals like "go into Mailchimp, update the signup form to X" or "play long tones on Bb for 10 minutes at 60bpm, then play arpeggios starting on Bb in circle of 5ths" or "text Suzie to set up a call to ask about which venues might be interested in my band" or whatever. It should be so small you say to yourself "well, I can just do that right now no problem" Learned that from ArtistsU.org (they have free worksheets on planning, mission, money, and time)
