We have a leftover Hurricane coming to Nashville on our big night out in Nashville going to a concert at the Ryman. I allow my anxieties to get the best of me. I worry about the weather, driving in Nashville, and whether I can stay awake late without being miserable! George does a really impressive job at an Aldi Haul. And on Saturday I film an experiment wondering if I can do a Saturday without my to do list and still be productive! Can I do it?
Come join us. Every Saturday at 7:00.

Hi Sonja. I like watching your videos. They are calm and comforting. Your husband is so awesome. I love how the two of you are together. Enjoy your weekend. Retirement is getting closer and closer 😅for you. I retired last year from The Pentagon after 34 Years as a Federal Employee. I’m now 58 and enjoying my retirement. My husband also retired last year after serving 23 Years in the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and 12 Years as a DOD Federal Employee at the National Security Agency, he’s 63 and loves retirement as well. I’m going to watch your retirement journey. 😊

You are going to love retirement. You are going to wonder how in the world you accomplished anything while you were working. I have to look at my phone now to see what day of the week it is. The freedom is awesome. My spouse of 59 years was diagnosed with dementia three years ago so that has definitely impacted our retirement life however I am going to enjoy every day to the fullest. I love your videos and I really appreciate all your hard work.

The good thing about household chores is that we can do what is urgent and leave other tasks for later. If I feel overwhelmed by so many tasks, I'd rather rest and then continue. The only list I make is the one for the grocery store. With or without a list, something always gets left undone. Health and well-being come first. Jesus told Martha not to worry so much, that there are better things. 😊

You are a ray of sunshine & I look forward to Saturday when I can watch what you & George, doggies have been up to for the week💖💖. I'm a few years younger than you, I work 5 days a week as well & have 2 sons 12 & 14 & my to do list is just making sure the house is picked up to the best of my abilities, making sure they have lunches for school & hubby has his for the next day. My schedule is always changing due to working for the Kroger grocery chain, so.. if I can just get the essentials done within the week I'm ok. I do struggle with being a older parent & I'm tired, wish I could take more time for myself, can't remember when my partner & I had a date night?? But it works for us... Living for today, trying to do the best I can for my family & others before me is my focus. I have anxiety everyday bc there is not enough time when you work & have family & other things that go along with it. You are awesome, loving, spiritual, funny, you will get things done when you can, don't beat yourself up about it, let God lead & go for your gut feeling Sonya. You & George are a inspiration for me & I pray many blessings to you & your family. Keep up the fun material🙏🙏🥰🥰👍👍🦋🦋💐💐

I am retired. So I found that I needed most of my mornings set as a routine. In my mornings I dress, exercise, Bible study with coffee (because these are important to me). At this point I have kind of to do list for each day of the week ( Monday-Friday). Saturdays are my lazy days & Sunday is God’s day. Now remember once you are retired nothing is set in cement. 😂

I've been retired for 14 years. What I used to do when I was working follows through at how I do my special things or tasks at home. Anything super important is written on a sticky note or a small piece of paper. When I finish the task, I crumble and throw that note away. It gives me satisfaction! The rest is in my head or calendar book. And new best friend Sonya, Let go and let God. You will soon have no worries!🤗🙏❤

I love Mt Juliet. We like our house and neighborhood. I even like some of Lebanon, but our restaurants and groceries are better unless you are in the new sections of town. But Nashville is pretty crazy. We don’t go in as often. I work in Antioch and will be glad to not go back in 11 weeks when I retire! But it is a pretty drive the way I go. I enjoy the scenery.

I am 71 and retired. My to do list is In my head . I prioritize what I need to do . What doesn’t get done can wait . I do write a grocery list though . I take care of my son and DIL and grandkids house and that’s a challenge in itself . You don’t have long to go until you retire. So just do what’s necessary now and leave the big stuff until you retire. See you next week.

For me, Some days there is not a list and some days there is one. When there is a list it’s usually for remembering to order things I’m out of or a list for the groceries, pay bills or housecleaning for entertainment purposes or up coming appts. I know you said you were doing ok but I felt as if it were a small struggle not to look at the list😅. When you retire the list may narrow itself down knowing you have the next day to pick up where you left off, the rigidity of it melts away.

Hello Sonya! One thing I’ve started doing on a daily basis that has affected my productivity & anxiety is meditation. It seems to me you definitely need your Bible reading and prayer first thing to get your mind right and get you on track! I noticed most of the left out things for you were focussed on your growth, and I do the same thing. I’ve also started exercising 20 min daily, and it’s my personal betterment thing. It has become a priority for me since my forced “retirement”. I still think I need “productivity” and “busy work”, but focus on getting important things done on a daily basis. Remember, as women we were indoctrinated from a young age to focus on others before ourselves. At 63, it’s still difficult for me to not feel guilty about focussing on stuff I want to do. I will focus on my dog before myself!😮 You are doing great! Love your channel! You will let go of the list, when you want to, and it’s always a process. YOU matter, this is what God wants from all of us! Love from foggy SF! ❤ Congrats on the monetization!😅

@@lesshustlemorecoffee I admit, I do a-lot of “stuff I should do” in my head, while I’m walking everyday! Lol Also there are a-lot of free videos on KZbin! I do Denise Austin’s 10 minute workouts and add another 10 minutes later doing something else. It has helped me so much with mobility. I can walk an hour now, but it’s taken me a few months with terrible Achilles tendon pain. All those years bookkeeping really messed up my body. Once you go back try to do at least 5 days a week. If you can do three now with still working full-time that will help with your energy levels. Maybe George should get his own KZbin channel?

I can really relate to the to-do list stuff. I go back and forth too - and since I’ve retired I’ve settled on having 3 separate categories of to-do’s: 1. Specific DEADLINE or SCHEDULED Tasks/Events. Want reminders for these to pop off on my phone. Helps not to forget important things! When I had everything dinging off I sometimes missed the most critical time dependent ones. Too much time took up working through or ignoring 20 or 30 beep reminders a day and like you said I tend to put more off that way or get stressed. 2. ROUTINE daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual tasks. I make checklists of these in spreadsheet form and print multiples so I can just have one each type (timeframe) on one page and check off each week or month etc. And grab a new form when I need one because everything is checked off for a time frame. Some tasks that it’s ok to skip sometimes I just mark with an X for that day or week (instead of a check mark ✅ when complete one) if I need to skip that day or week or pick it up later when I have more time. . 3. PROJECTS - Whether Fun or more Goals that cannot be done as a single one time task. For example I’d have fall decorating as an annual task on #2. Whereas completing a certain puzzle or craft project or organizing or scanning my old family photos, organizing my CDs, or cleaning my records would be here in the project list category - with sub goals and goal dates which I want to try to meet but can move out if needed. I print these out too and keep in a thing flexible 3-ring binder with a tab for each project. Prioritize to plan my day…. In this order .. 1. I check make sure all deadline items are done if due that day or before I’ll get another chance to do. I address these first. 2. I pull out my routine task lists .. and highlight the boxes I need to do that day and check them off as I do. I select a few more for the week or month or quarter I want to do next and mark with a different highlighter. 3. I go to my project list and pick at least one task on one project I think I can work in next given #1 & 2 and how much time I’ll have that day or week and highlight those as next up. I like doing this way because most of the work is up front getting everything on the list & you can always add…it’s fun taking the little binder around and checking things off as you complete them. It’s easy to look and see anytime what’s next or you planned but had to delay or whatever. The deadline category will remind you on your phone in proper advance. You tend to memorize the daily routine things but checking them off can still be a good feeling. And I tend to get more Routine & Project tasks done when I just focus on ones I’ve pre-marked - when all highlighted are checked, highlight the next set. Whether you have 10 min or an hour or an afternoon you can quickly find something to complete and check off. Just thought I’d share what I do. Thanks for the fun to watch vlog again this week! Hope you had a great week this week too!

Wow, you are more organized than I am! That’s a great idea. I kinda have a similar plan going but digitally with my annual goals. I put most everything routine in my phone plus projects spread out over the year. I got most of my 24 goals done too!
@jdthompson5778
@jdthompson5778 Күн бұрын
@@lesshustlemorecoffee That’s great you are in track with most of your 2024 goals! I think you could incorporate some of my ideas into what you already do if you like some of it.. I also have them all on my computer and phone but higher level than my detailed sheet and don’t have phone reminders of those dinging me constantly as I ignore or keep moving many out for another time . Reminders or to dos going off only it has an actual deadline and must be completed then or before! Otherwise I mark off the sheets and stay off phone and computer while completing tasks.. unless the task is digital of course! I just found that managing too many items on a to do took too much time and generating constant reminders for everything amped up the anxiety by constantly seeing & dismissing them - seemed to make me feel behind all the time even as I was working away on items on my list or when I wasn’t able to work on them or needed a break that day… kind of like the Saturday experiment you featured on the video. I get reminders and stick close to deadlines others have basically set FOR me… let my phone remind me of those as the day or time is coming up very soon depending on time I need prior to complete. For the Routine tasks and Projects I want to do regularly or as a project, I like to physically print the spreadsheets and visually see them at the start of a day or session and mark a few of each I think I can do that day or the next (kinda like your Saturday morning planning) and it’s quicker & more motivating for me to do that way. As I go I check off what I did on those sheets. Then at the end of a session I can see which are still open so I can leave those for next time and also plan the next routine task and/or project sub-task I want to tackle next. Helps me focus and enjoy the time & accomplishments more. If I decide to do an additional routine task early or instead of something else I originally planned because I’m into it already or that room etc. I just do it then afterwards find and check it off. I generally put the routine tasks & projects in my phone or list but not at a much higher level. The micro sub tasks, I just keep on the printed off the computer list so it’s easy to grab as I’m working and check things off as I complete them. No phone constantly going off with way too much I don’t have time to finish that day. Like your puzzles (I love doing puzzles too!) I’d make it a project with the puzzle name and just make 30 or 60 min sub tasks and plan that into a day of tasks you highlight. 30 or 60 min in afternoon working on puzzle after lunch. When you do that stop & check off like any task. When you finish check off that puzzle & add a new one.! You’ll be surprised how you can work that in.. more when retired! 😊 If time gets away and you can’t get to it then just leave a time slot highlighted until you can do & check off!

@@lesshustlemorecoffee We don't do it often but we did last night. There was a free festival downtown with vendors and live music which we went to on Friday afternoon/evening and again this morning. Last night we ate dinner at a restaurant (also a rare treat) and afterwards we hit a few bars on the walk back to the hotel. Granted, we were in bed by 9pm so definitely not the wild and crazy whippersnappers that we used to be, lol. Our car stayed parked in the hotel lot the entire time we were down there and we were home by 10:00am this morning. Our college kid happened to be home for the weekend so he watched the dogs for us. If he hadn't been in town we would have gotten a neighbor kid to let the dogs out in the evening and first thing in the morning.
