I wasn't nearly as excited about the Paper Towns movie this morning as I am now that Margo has been cast. Having a model/actor (and not the other way around) obliterate the MDPG trope for all the world to see will be glorious.
@Kyasakoamy
@Kyasakoamy 10 жыл бұрын
I hadn't thought about it that way - that's actually really cool. It's sad to see people dismissing the casting because they see 'model' and are disappointed, when actually it adds another layer to the story.

Kyasakoamy I personally disagree with Cara as Margo simply because although she seems like an amazing person is not actually an actress. Margo is one of my favourite JG characters and I don't think Cara will do her justice (and she's waay to old and I can't see her with Nat either). I hope I'm wrong though, TFIOS movie was an awesome adaptation so I have (had) high hopes for PT
@scottgoblue
@scottgoblue 10 жыл бұрын
breakevenize 1. she may not have many screen credits, but she is an actress and 2. unless you've seen her audition tape, like the film producers and John have, I don't think that's a fair criticism (as for age, actors who play high school kids are always laughably older than their characters. We as an entertainment-consuming society have collectively agreed to suspend our disbelief in regards to age, with certain egregious exceptions). TL;DR - fear not, the movie is in the hands of trained professionals!

Too all raging fans about the casting of Margo Roth Spiegelman: "Ughh!! He is a bad actor and will never do any justice to the character!" -Everyone when Heath Ledger was casted as the joker. "Ugghh! He's an unknown! he's barely an actor he cant play the role!" -Everyone when Matt Smith casted as The Doctor "who the eff is robert downey junior?" -Everyone when Iron Man casting was announced. People needs to chill, give Cara a chance. Remember; John said that he's an Exec Producer, and now "you can blame him" -- Which means he took part of this casting (even if it's not too much). And yeah, as far as TFIOS went, i guess John can be trusted when he said she's amazing, eh? I was surprised too, and the fanboy within me also a bit disappointed at first, but then i remember the case of three actors i mentioned earlier. so just hope for the best.

It's definitely not weird, but I will say that they really did do an amazing job. Personally I prefer to read books after seeing their movie adaptations, and that is what I did in this case, but the more I read the book, the more impressed I became with the movie. They may have taken some things out and changed things here and there as must be done with movies in most cases, but overall, I'd say this is one of the most faithful movie adaptations, both in content and feeling, that it has ever been my pleasure to see.

I just learnt that Cara was cast as Margo, I have decided to be positive about it and to reserve my judgment until the movie but it always bugs me when Hollywood casts actors that are way older than the part and that look older. I think it give a wrong image of what teenagers should look like. There are so many examples of that in movies and television right now, 25 something actors portraying high school students. It can make young people very insecure about themselves, and their appearance.
@LapinLibertin
@LapinLibertin 10 жыл бұрын
Neither Cara or Nat Wolff are high school aged. 22 & 20. So 2 & 4 years older than the characters. Shailene Woodley was playing a 16-year-old Hazel at 21 going on 22, so that's a 5-6 year age difference. But look at how well TFIOS came out.

John, you should write a book where a autistic child is portrayed as being able to feel all the same emotions that everyone one else is. I have Asperger's syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder, I hate how people with autism spectrum disorders are portrayed as being emotionless, never being shown as able to love and be loved. I can say, if anyone can, that this is just so wrong, I've battled depression, I've been bullied by both students and teachers, I have felt all the things teenagers feel, but people don't see people with autism this way, simply because they don't express these emotions through the same body language and facial expressions that other people do. Although I have largely learned how to make eye contact and read body language and all those things I am fairly certain other people can tell something is different about me. You seem like someone who would write a book like this, after reading the fault in our stars I wouldn't be surprised is you did write something like this.

Edward Kenway yes yes yes! I know two autistic people (coincidentally a mother and daughter) and I hate how autism is always shown as the nerdy, introverted, emotionless robot who is a maths and/or physics savant who goes on a terrible journey that plays havoc on his sensory issues and ends up with him funding out that he loves his parents or some shit. I'm sure John Green would write that brilliantly.

My girlfriend who has seen the movie several times, and LOVES the story with all her heart; did not reconize you. extrasagrada why judge her when you haven't even seen her act before? i mean, except if you have some personal grudge on her then judging her would possibly acceptable [but personal grudges will only be okay if you actually DO know her in person], I'm not being mean or anything, it's just ... I want to ask why? why do you hate her enough to not watch the paper towns movie? i mean isn't that a shallow reason? like whoever play the part doesn't matter, it's all about the book and the movie itself. :)

***** don't have anything against Cara but Margo is a short, curvy, Jewish girl not a tall, skinny, British model. her appearance is a very important part of the book and so Cara doesn't make any sense for the role, even she's a genius actress which i also doubt

extrasagrada okay, i'm pretty sure I've read paper towns and i don't seem to remember the exact details of Margo put in the book, but I did read that Q once described her jewish, BUT that doesn't really answer my question as to why you won't watch the movie, when in fact it's not the characters of the movie you're after but the story of the book itself? ... idk, just a question [I'm glad you don't have anything against cara]

The Hank is the oldest successful human-carrying flight technology. The first untethered, manned flight in a Hank was performed in Paris, France in 1783, by Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier and François Laurent d'Arlandes. Modern Hanks come in a variety of shapes and sizes, though the majority stick to the original round shape. The modern Hank consists of a basket, an on-board heat source, and an envelope which is generally made of ripstop nylon or dacron. The Hank works by an occupant in the basket turning on the heat source, and allowing the hot air to fill the envelope. The pull of the rising hot air eventually lifts the Hank and its occupants off the ground. Using this method, Hanks can reach very high altitudes this way, with the current record being 21,027 m (68,986 ft), set by Vijaypat Singhania, who took off from Mumbai, India on November 26, 2005.
