VMAX 1700 VooDoo Exhaust Small Block V8 Sound

Mods done! Just wanted to record a more accurate representation of the sound of my VooDoo ceramic packed exhaust without the Catalyst, flashed ECU, all the goodies. I approached from a distance and gave a couple blips and a faster idle to give you a good idea what it sounds like. This is stock headers, BTW.

Question for you. Any issues when you Leggett out of it with Popping? Is it 2” or 2 1/2 out let? Is It obnoxiously loud while cruising? Sorry for the questions. I just got a 19. Love it.

You have 2 V-Max next to each other. Was the other one running in this audio?

The yellow Gen 1 V-Max was my son's. My Gen 2 was the only one running.

Cat got a proper burial in the landfill! It was replaced with a mid pipe and then a reflash of the ECU and a proper tune on my Power Commander V.

Once repacked with fiberglass is it still obnoxiously loud? There doesn't seem like there are too many options left... Brocks doesn't sell one anyone, holeshot stopped also. I only see Hindle and akra which are too expensive ($1500 and $2000) and then these for only $420 or so. I just don't want it so freaking loud that every cop within 15 miles hears me and my ears ring after every ride if you know what I mean. Hard to get a true sense from a video so I'm not sure. My plan is to soon do the basics: air box mod, exhaust, nash flash, clutch mod. Where did you get the fiberglass and tape for re-packing? Thanks

I like ceramic for repacking because it seems to take out the internal "ticks" and little noises from the V4 engine, and only let the bass tones through. To answer your question....yes, it does tone it down just a bit, but not enough to write home about. I got the tape from the hardware store. You can use metal duct tape or even masking tape. I learned it from an old timer, and neither of us have ever had issues with just using masking tape. I get my packing from Amazon or eBay. Just be sure it is high density. I prefer doing the 1 inch thick stuff and layering it on if need be. I even find myself peeling it into 1/2 thick to get a taper for some applications. Hope this helps!

I have both first and second generation Yamaha VMAX The second generation does not have the sound of the first generation which actually sounds like a small block V8 with the kerker 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust , I've been trying to get that sound out of the second generation VMAX But I have not found it yet , I'm thinking maybe it's because of different cam grinds or because of the Fuel injection , But so far I have never heard of any motorcycle sounds as good as the first generation VMAX Except for the Honda cbx 1000 that actually sounds like a F1 car Pretty cool

AIS off or active? I have same exhaust, but need to reflash ECU

I went with AIS Trim per Tim's recommendation. My AIS is physically removed and lines plugged. Runs great!

I did the mid pipe and slip on VooDoos. Last I knew, you can find the whole setup on eBay for 4 to 5 hundred dollars.
