Yes indeed it is closing and it did make the news!

"They say they play 2-3 hours a day" My response immediately "That's it?" ~Gamecrazy from VMK March 3, 2007-May 21, 2008 I'm 22 now and I will never forgive Disney for their stupidity in the decision to close this game. The game averaged 5000 to 6000 people online during the day, and the game kept growing, it wouldn't stop growing. Yet Disney said they didn't have enough people, comparing their user numbers to World of Warcraft. Then, they went on to buy Club Penguin for 700 million dollars, and they never made their money back. They (thankfully) lost hundreds of millions. They could have introduced a membership model to VMK, but they refused and thought Club Penguin was a better investment. They could have made over $1000 from me alone to this day off of membership. I am glad that this decision has cost them, and me for one, I have boycotted Disney since 2008. I will never use a Disney product ever again, and I will never let my children watch Disney movies or use Disney products because of the most idiotic marketing decision in the history of online games. Don't they dare ever think people will forget.

Every time I think about this game, it just hurts more and more remembering it's gone. I made some amazing friends, and I couldn't even say goodbye when it closed. I was on a cruise with no internet. I'm 16 now and I would still happily play this game with no shame if it ever came back. - SnowRodent

Something about that game made it so fun. Something you won't find in Habbo or Club Penguin or other games. Just the game, with it's graphics and room decorating features made it so fun. It felt heartwarming to play unlike others. Something about it was unique. I wish it were back =(

i can not believe it has already been over 4 years since the closing. I still remember playing like it was yesterday. and literally not a day goes by where i don't think of something VMK related. it was the best virtual game ever i remember ZoobZoob and FroggyPrincess and chatting and playing. grr i miss it =/

Today my friend and I found a site that let us explore the familiar places of vmk, you couldn't play it, but it brought back so many memories, not gonna lie we had a couple of tears. VMK was brilliant, and so many people played and it was possibly one of the best games around. I would probably jump right on it if it was back.

people say that we waste our time on a virtual game, but it was SO popular that when it shut down it had to be on television and the news!!! VMK was my all time favorite game and i miss it so so much.

im 17 too and i miss this game so much. but i hope they will reopen it someday, but since im going to college next year i hope i will to get to do the disney college program and live there for real, that would be an amazing experience even more fun than vmk imo

I agree, right now I'm 19 and I still check to see if VMK will ever return it was the best virtual game I have ever played. Other virtual games are just not the same.

ik i miss it so much! it made me so happy the music games and i love it! it was the best webisite i have ever known... i want it back and so many kids do! i loved how it looked like disney like the pirates of carribean and the castle and the fantasy land i thought that was so amazing

I would without a doubt still be playing this game if Disney hadn't taken it down. I hadn't even heard the news they would take it down so I ended up going to the website one day and it was just gone. Even after all this time I still miss VMK.

i was amazingspookymask. i got all my friends hooked, i had just got the complete cowboy outfit, and a lot of ears, i had made one really great friend that i trusted, and then it closed. vfk is nothing like it and sucks. vmk was amazing. i had never been to any disney park before, and going on this website made me feel like i was there. i miss it soooo much! :"(

@ClanHabboBZLove thank you for showin this! if this really opens ill gocrazy i played vmk everyday for hours &had so many close friendships. then one day my main account was suddenly banned, i didnt get to say goodbye to any of them. i thought it was only for a month but it turned out to be for 10 years?! but i had a secondary account with the same friends, but that wouldnt work. but i tried it 3 months before the closing, only to find out it was closing, and that my friends had stopped playing

its a program where you sign up to live and work in Disney world for 4 months and you get paid and get college credits, i heard its one of the best experiences ever but you have to be 18 and up and completed at least 1 semester of college. i cant wait till next year so i can start applying lol

I agree with the dad in this video. It being a virtual game did not make the friendships any less real. It's been almost FOUR YEARS since VMK closed, and people are STILL posting comments on this video. That says a lot about the impact this site had on the lives of those who knew about it. I really wish they hadn't had closed it. I really miss it . . .

I agree if VMK came back as a paid game, I would pay. I would do anything for VMK to be back. I normally check every 6 months or so to see if there is any new news. I still have hope it will open one day. If I had a million dollars the first thing I would do is try to convince Disney to bring VMK back. :)

There are so many people in the comments that are exactly my age. I'm fourteen right now. It makes me feel good that most of the people that actually cared about this game was around my age. If it was released again, it wouldn't feel the same.

the site became extrememly popular so thaey wanted to keep it open until 2008. but this is what i think they wanted to do: break freindships, even good ones!

I was 16 when I played this game, just cause it was friggen awesome. I mean, it's disney! I wasn't concerned about making friends, the items were cool, the quests and the rooms too. Now there's a beta version that just started this November 2013. It REALLY in beta mode, but they have the fireworks game, the jungle cruise game and you can collect clams as well in that captain's quarters room. I'm waiting for them to add quests and rides. It's still fun, but not as fun as the original obviously.

i cant tell you how much i miss this game :( i worked so hard to get pixels for rare clothes and tried quests again and again to get that little car, and those special quest item, and the awesome rooms i created i dont even remember how many i had thats how many i had, waiting in line for peoples events, seeing peoples rooms, playing all those game with diff people, diving into the big pool... just so much stuff i worked for all gone now thanks to disney and sulake's stupid asses :(

i absolutely loved it and was highly addicted. i am almost 13 now. it was a shame when they closed it. i think that they should reopen it and have you still able to get on your old user. it was a dumb move to make. it was the safest internet game i had ever seen, and the most fun.

People who say stuff like "It was just a virtual world" obviously have never played VMK to know that it was amazing. People say that I just need to get over it and move on but I still haven't gotten over VMK closing. I have moved on in life.. but it doesnt mean ill forget about VMK. I still hope VMK can reopen one day... in fact there is a rumor about it reopening in 2013... but I wouldn't get my hopes up. :( We tried everything, even got on the news and its been 3 years now.. still not back. :(

It was when I was in 3rd-5th grade though. :( I remember crying as soon as I saw the last message of VMK. I play VFK but not for long.
