V-Modas imo are the best headphone M-50s are the best for the price overall I'd say m-50s but I'm a basehead so I'm a little bias with choosing V-modas
@keithscull828811 жыл бұрын
You made the V Moda's sound way too much like beats near the end.. I own the V moda'sand I have to say I disagree with the hype that these are a bass heavy set of cans. I tend to find that these are actually perfectly balanced BUT sound is subjective. Here's what I think about it. I think that a perfectly balanced sound is also subjective, and in many people's opinion including my own, a perfect BALANCED sounding spectrum needs a bit more bass than what most "flat" headphones offer. I feel as though the V Moda's are absolutely perfect for the balance, I owned the pioneer HDJ 2000's which are as, "flat" as it gets, and I personally could not find them very beatmix/dj worthy at all due to the huge lack of bass. On the contrary, the M 100's are PERFECT for me, the whole frequency range is SUPER crisp and distinguishable

Digital Tech Reviews & Tips Thanks my friend, that's not how Imeant though..I doubt I know much more if anything more than you do about audio or headphones..that's just the opinion I've gathered from trying so many different pairs and spending mad $ aha.. I realized this when I was shopping for new DJ cans for my setup and went on these forums where people prasied the hdj 2000's for being perfectly balanced just because they were "flat.." I quickly noticed they didn't work for my needs due to lack of bass, the same people on the forum said the m 100's were too bassy, and like I said I found THOSE to b perfectly balanced for ME... it goes to show a flat sound is not always perfectly balanced to everyone

This isn't a very good comparison review. Primarily because we are looking at three vastly different price points. One of them significantly higher than the other two. That, to me, automatically puts them all in separate categories. I've listened to all of these models and I find the MDR 7506s to be superior in every way. The fact that they're the least expensive and have been in the trenches for many years is just a bonus.
@HerosTheme2 жыл бұрын
The 7506's sound so crispy, I love that, and my ears are tiny making them perfectly comfortable for me particularly.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips2 жыл бұрын
That’s great to hear! Mine wore out a few years or so ago (mainly from leaving them in the sun) but I kinda want to pick up a new pair after seeing your comment.
@HerosTheme2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I really like them so far. They're not as loud as my treblab earbuds, but they are clearer, especially when I'm listening to podcasts or watching movies.

I've tried a pair of the Crossfade LPs and they are almost as good as the M100s. Actually, if you look through the specs of both it is hard to spot a difference. Even though the LPs don't have the M100's ruggedness, awesome lifetime warranty, or the compatibility, they have almost exactly the same level and style of audio quality: increased bass (that's not muddy) and great passive sound isolation.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
I imagine slightly more than the black model yes, but because it is a slightly off-white I haven't noticed it that much.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
Idk. So many people have commented saying the opposite in the comments that by now I am guessing that there was either something wrong with me, the way I was using my headphones, or the specific headphones that I received.

Good review, I think the M-100's are clearly the best for just listening to modern music (they are also the most expensive) but they are NOT a reference headphone for producing and mixing.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips10 жыл бұрын
That's basically what I was saying, I just took a lot longer to say it and didn't say it as clearly.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
They might hurt your ears after a little but they're pretty awesome. I'd have a look at the V-Moda LP's though. They cost less than the ATH-M50s (around $100) and are designed more for casual listening and style.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of that particular model, but Sennheiser is pretty well known for making quality headphones, so if you are reading reviews saying that they produce a fairly balanced sound, than I would go with them.
@aviadaz11 жыл бұрын
Say do u think the sennheisser momentum would be better for mixing? From what i heard (Reviews only) they produce a fairly balanced sound with a great sound.. Any thoughts on that?
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
The M50's are definitely less harsh on the high-end than the 7506's. That's actually one of the first things I noticed when I put them on. Going from the 7506's to the M50's, you'll find they have better sound isolation (almost too good), a bigger space within the ear cups, and more bass and low end (while still maintaining a natural response).
@chunnchilla10 жыл бұрын
I'm leaning towards the M100's purely for bass+quality. Got what I needed and @ 9:34 sums up my opinion, So Great review, enjoyed it, nice description, satisfied, thanks, and... yea. Lol
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
I didn't buy the V-Modas for accuracy (since I already own two headphones with natural response), but thanks for the info. I will keep that in mind for future purchases and videos.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
I assume you mean the V-Moda "Crossfade" LP or the Sony MDR 7506. For you I would definitely go with the Crossfade LP: better noise isolation, better case, and more tuned to get the best sound out of today's pop music.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
I would have a look at the Sony MDR-XB500 Extra Bass Headphones. They retail for $80 and though I personally don't own them, I have tried them out several times in different stores and they always seem to amaze me with their comfort. The padding on the ear cups is extremely plush plus they are fairly light. As far as sound, they are on par with most other headphones in their price range. I would go try them out in your local Staples (cause I know they have them usually) to see how you like them.
@mchaseross1311 жыл бұрын
weyderwarr, the V-Moda's don't look cheap though. If you look at them closely compared to almost any headphone, you can tell that build quality is second to none. They use aluminum as their frame as opposed to plastics and other composites. Also, they're reinforced with kevlar and are extremely flexible. Compared to any other headphones in their price range, they are by far the best for build quality.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
The V-Moda M100s? Or the Crossfade LPs? If it is the M100s yes, since they go for $300, if it is the Crossfade LPs, no since you can probably find them for under $100.

@tocotaku478710 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would have to agree that especially with the first releases of the beats, being the most awful when it came to sound quality being fun or accurate they failed in both categories, they just give me a headache from the sound they produce, and that is the main reason I did not care for them. Well that and their price tag. I am currently using both the soundMagic HP100 that I got for a steal just because the left and red tag indicators were missing, and I was surprised with the very affordable DT 990 pro. Both these cans I got for a total with shipping for jsut shy of 200$. Both of these have a much nicer base response and sound stage + quality than the beats.

The Vmoda's are definitely the most portable (mainly because of their case) but as far as the best bass it is between the ATH-M50 and the M100. The Ath-M50s have a lot more clear bass (but also less) while the M-100s have a lot stronger bass (which in some cases can be two much. Neither have a muddy low end though.

@uhgvitybvouv10 жыл бұрын
+1 for the ATH-M50 hurting your ears. I still have listening fatigue with them pretty quick on high, mid-high volumes. I think what hurts is not the bass, it's the trebble. It also makes distortion fx/ brass sounds sound sterile and buzzy (I do know I'm in the minority here). I tried to pinpoint it exactly using Supercollider, I think there's a peak at the 10KHz range (or maybe 10,5>x>8,5KHz, and probably something nearing >13 KHz that makes it annoying though I didn't check), and it's useless to mess around with EQ since this comes from the design. Still, the bass is pretty cool (I don't know if mid-bass is very present or defined, but bass it's boomy enough at the price range), for the price I think it's a very good headphone, that makes music lively (with the boomy bass and the strident highs) and defined (good soundstage too). But maybe a 300 bucks headphone is worth the additional money
@darkhero10101011 жыл бұрын
The M50s for your preference, but I'd really recommend V Moda M80s as a complete package, I listen to a lot of metalcore (Converge, Botch, Dillinger) and some deathcore as well (The Faceless, Veil Of Maya, Born Of Osiris) and the M80s have a really ballanced but yet engaging sound that's really enjoyable and non fatiguing. I haven't tried M50s but they are usually compared to the Shure SRH440s and to me those while good and relatively neutral , where just boring to listen to.

One thing to remember is that the price tags of these cans aren't even close to each other. VModa M100 - $300, Audio Technica ATH M50 - $160, Sony MDR 7506 - $85.
@FinalMythology10 жыл бұрын
the audio technicas not really for mobile use as much as the v-modas are, but if you have a good sound card software or have windows audio you can right click on the bottom right icon and up the quality from cd to studio quality and the m50 will have a nice boost in quality that rivals that of v-moda without the extra bass so the instruments sound clearer, you can even add bass if you wanted to, but it's a trick that works only in good computers

I wanted to ask if the sony's are also good headphones for listening to music on your pc and or phone? Because I am buying a pair of headphone to use fr music and moves, but also want to be able to use them to monitor my voice when making video reviews. I was looking at some beyerdynamic dt990s that are on sale for 150$ and heard they are fantastic for listening to music and very high quality in build and comfort.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips10 жыл бұрын
I don't have any experience with the Beyerdynamic DT990s, however, they look like pretty good quality headphones. As for the Sony MDR-7506s, you might find them slightly lacking on the lower end if listening to hip-hop, dubstep, or other bass heavy types of music. This is something that you'll experience with almost all 'monitor headphones' since they are pretty much evenly balanced (unlike the finely tuned stereo systems and headphones we are used to). But even though they don't pack the same punch on the lower end as Beats, V-Modas, or Souls, they are extremely crisp and clear and will reveal sounds in songs that you never knew were there. On top of this, they are really light with big ear cups so you can wear them foreverrrrrrr and never get sore ears.

No, they are great for rap and EDM. Also, a lot of people use them while they're DJ-ing. I would however possibly look into getting the new wireless M100 (amzn.to/2lMpmDA). That so funny. After 2 ear surgery's and 2 years of pain I finally got used to them. So yea I definitely recommend the audio technica ath-m50

I don't agree on the part where you said that the M50x are a cause of discomfort to ear.

I found the V Modas on amazon for $154. Is that worth the audio quality

If you're into bass, you might want to look into the ATH pro700mk2.

Speak for yourself. I really buy the headphones only for the bags they come in :p Nah, point taken. This was really my first attempt at making a real review/comparison video so please cut me some slack. But the criticism is good and I'll try to focus more on the essential features in future videos I make.

Could someone enlighten me with their opinion? Right now I'm in a bit of trouble deciding between Audio-Technica ATH M50x, Sony MDR-1RBT/MDR-1RNC vs. VModa m100's? Just wanna know your guys opinions on which to get or what headphones you have with some pros & cons.... Thanks

Ash Ketchum I would say go with the M50x. But wait to see what others chime in with. Always good to get more opinions.

I have both, the audio technicas sound better when listening to itala/disco while the v-moda have a nearly as good accuracy in the sound but the bass more than makes up for it. Actually can't really tell if the bass makes the other sounds worse or not in the v-moda, but I know it covers up more bad sounds than good so basically it improves most music. Overall I think the v-moda are better however the price difference is significantly in audio technica's favor. If you're shooting for that 300 dollar range you should look into the psb m4u and the v-moda and compare those 2 instead, audio technicas are mostly the minimum standard as in I probably wouldn't buy anything less than them for I have been spoiled by both v-moda and audio technica's sounds..

How do the V Moda M100 compare to the Beats Pro?
@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
Sound quality is pretty similar. Honestly the most noticeable difference is the larger ear cups of the Beats Pro. This gives the sound a little more room to bounce around in but also increases the comfortability if you have a large head and ears.
@FinalMythology10 жыл бұрын
they're better in every way except maybe the v-moda punches less maybe

Good review but I can't believe u said the Audio Technica's are uncomfortable... I have the M50x and they are super comfortable and can wear them for hours plus amazing sound quality and defo best value for money headphones out there (better than beats by Dre in my opinion).

You should put new headphones around a chair when you open them for some hours. Keep up the good work man!!!
@DigitalTechReviewsTips10 жыл бұрын
I actually did that with the last air of headphones I bought and it really did help. Thanks for the tip though!

@DigitalTechReviewsTips11 жыл бұрын
They both sound good, however, the Crossfade LP's are tuned for more bass which enhances most music. I would go with the V-Modas if you are not worried about your headphones having a neutral sound cause as you said they look better than the Audio Technicas.
