How much HP could I expect to get from a 2016 Mustang GT 5.0 Gen2 Coyote? I currently have a 2018 intake manifold with a PMAS 120mm cool air. Any thoughts on how much HP I would get if I got the VMP Gen3R?
@VMPPerformanceTV2 жыл бұрын
Hey Shane! A Gen3R kit on a Gen 2 Mustang is going to make mid to high 600s to the wheel on average with pump 93 octane fuel. Typically, the limiting factor is the fuel's octane/knock resistance at this particular level.
@ShaneWelcher2 жыл бұрын
@@VMPPerformanceTV So basically, depending on fuel & the air quality but staying at least in the 600 HP and above. Ok. I saw the other video showing the Gen3R on dyno at 900 HP and above. They did not discuss fuel, just the introduction to the Gen3R. On the VMP track car. I thought it was a bolt on supercharger that increases by 300HP. Doesn't sound like the Gen3R will produce 300 extra HP on pump 93 octane
@VMPPerformanceTV2 жыл бұрын
The Gen3R itself is capable of supporting 1200+ rwhp. But that is with the appropriate supporting modifications and fuel system. Most stock/stockish Gen 2 cars make middle 300s to 400whp stock and you can expect 250-300rwhp increase over stock with a Gen3R kit (that 650-700whp range depending on fuel quality of the 93). 900whp would've been with a fuel system and E85 as well as other supporting modifications.
@ShaneWelcher2 жыл бұрын
@@VMPPerformanceTV my car has close to 500 HP with a 2018 intake manifold, PMAS 120mm intake along with the resonator removed. Plus all of the independent rear suspension mods done for proper traction. Most Gen2 Coyote motors are stock 435HP. Of course, that isn't at wheel. Meaning, the car would but 745HP at Pulley with the VMP Gen3R correct?

What an impressive kit! That looks so fun to install but it prob voids the coyote warranty if it's not installed by a professional right?
@VMPPerformanceTV2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words Adam! As for warranty, the only warranty offered in regards to our supercharger kits is a 1 year parts warranty on the kit components themselves. As for your engine/drivetrain and related parts, it'd be imperative to look into your vehicle's warranty documentation and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act in regards to how aftermarket modifications may impact your coverage.

Why change over to 5w-50? Is that just Gen 2 only?
@VMPPerformanceTV3 жыл бұрын
This based on the Roush heavy duty recommendations implemented with supercharged Coyotes. The heavier "hot" weight is based on the heavier/harder driving conditions and additional heat created from supercharging.

suggestions on what to change internally if i were to install this on stock gen 1 coyote with about 160k miles? ive been thinking of boosting it but im worried considering the mileage
@maximusvonce13813 жыл бұрын
Rebuild motor with forged rods and pistons and steel oil pump and crank sprocket gears.
@VMPPerformanceTV3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jose. As for a vehicle with miles, we've found that the actual condition/health of the engine is more important than the mileage. We've had a few customers add a supercharger at higher mileage with success. Things to check would be engine compression via a compression test and completing a leak down test as well. Those will tell you the condition of the piston rings and valvetrain/valve sealing, giving you a good idea of the engine's overall health. In regards to upgrading, if you were to consider a rebuild, going with a nice set of rods, pistons, and rings with ARP hardware and a set of head studs would go incredibly far in setting you up for higher power goals. Gen 1 cars are a little weaker in the bottom end than the later versions of the Coyote engine, but can live long healthy lives with a moderate amount of boost and safe tune in stock form.
