It is a comfortable holster however I found a couple of issues. One, the retention strap needs to be a thumb break on the inside of the firearm for a more natural draw, the other is the need for a retention strap to keep the magazines in place.

Mr. Range, the reason why things always seem to be "on sale" is because, regrettably, a majority of people are not very intelligent and are easily taken in by such tactics, much the same reason why we arm ourselves to begin with! Great video! I hope your surgery went well and that your convalescence has been successful and uneventful.

I use bellybands regularly for my EDC. I carry 8/9 o'clock as lefty. The application for me goes over the pants under a roomy shirt. I paid 30$ from Amazon on average. The VNSH holster is overpriced compared to what the market offers. I do not see any features that are unique to that holster that justify the higher cost . Thanks for sharing this very well made and detailed presentation.

Nice collection of handguns. I have 3in barrel 1911, Colt New Agent, with a trench sight, so no snagging of the front sight.very good review. Detailed, understandable, informative narrative. Snap adjustment is similar to Uncle Mikes cloth holster. Hope your shoulder surgery goes well and is successful. The VNSH holster is a bit pricey compared to to holsters with a similar design. Just handling one made me appreciate the old Uncle Mike's nylon IWB holster I wear daily. Solidly constructed from heavy nylon with a thumb strap that is adjustable/removeable. It also includes a pouch that holds two extra magazines for my single stack Slick Willy era .40S&W or one for a 9 Minimal I no longer carry. I've owned one belly band holster, and it had the same problem, due to lightweight materials. It promptly collapsed upon drawing making rebolstering very difficult at best. So, until VNSH can produce a holster that I feel I can trust not to collapse upon the draw, I'll keep my credit card in my wallet.

Thanks for this review. I have been annoyed many times by the ads for the VNSH holster and always just click away from it. I have not changed my opinion after this video, but at least I now understand the way the product works. Given my rather excessive waistline I doubt it would fit me comfortably ( yes, I am a Phat Old Man ). But I do now know that it will work with most of my carry pistols and revolvers should I change my mind and get one. Thanks again!

I've got a Damascus Cerakote HK vp9sk w/holosun on the way and am looking for options to carry. This is the FIRST belly band type holster review with a demonstration of an OPTIC mounted rig......THANK YOU good sir , I truly appreciate the research you provided. The only thing im noticing is that alot of these type holsters are NOT tac light/laser friendly. Lastly would you say that this particular belly band type holster protects/preserves the finish on your handguns ? I don't like to run kydex for this reason. l'll be going through hip surgery soon and will be on crutches even longer than I already have , so these belly band type holsters are calling to me. I dress tactical to conceal but like to dress relaxed in gym clothes more recent cuz of my injury and an EDC bag is cumbersome sometimes in a rush. Thanx again.

I'm looking to carry in more of a cross draw position and the pistol angle in the VNSH holster would be completely wrong for me. But the flexible belt isn't a bad idea. That said, I have a sewing machine and I know how to use it. I've already sewn a fanny pack holster from Codura and I still have a lot of Codura leftover from that project with which to make a waist band. But I would be more inclined to attach an existing holster that worked well to the waist band.

@RidersRange 5 ай бұрын
@billk2379, law enforcement officers have a mission to go after the bad guys, so they are justified in searching and identifying with a light mounted on their weapons. Non-sworn citizens don't have the same mission and can be charged criminally if they point a gun with a mounted light at someone just to identify that person. Mount a light on your concealed carry gun or home defense gun if you want, but I highly recommend that you do your searching with a hand-held light.
@billk2379
@billk2379 5 ай бұрын
@@RidersRange - Agree but that's a totally different scenario. I am not advocating pointing a weapon mounted light at someone just to ID them - that would likely constitute aggravated assault. What I am saying is that IF you need to draw your weapon in self defense (the only time you ever should), it would be better to have enough light to identify anyone behind your attacker.

I just came across this video because I was looking into holsters. You made mention "why don't they just make the sale price the regular price". There's something called the JC Penny effect. JC Penny actually had a CEO that believed this and did just that. The problem they found was that folks stopped shopping in their stores because they didn't run sales because everything was a sale pricing. Folks would go to Walmart and see something on sale and then go to JC and see the prices very close together but then would ask what the sale price on those items would be. The problem has to do with the human psyche and the manipulation over decades with "sales". You could mark something UP $2 but if you put the word "sale" next to it then they are more likely to buy that item because they "believe" they are getting a deal. JC Penny about went bankrupt and then marked all their prices back up just so they could run sales again and they recovered. Your average person is too ignorant, lazy, or brainwashed to fully understand how things work and instead prefer to be manipulated because that means it's less work for them in the end. That is why things are on "perpetual sale".

You have said it. I bought an office chair two days ago. It was on sale for $200 off. Sounds fantastic right? $200 off!!! Wow!. I had been looking at chairs for the last several months, and I'm 99% certain that the regular price is the same that I paid. It actually IS a great chair for the price I paid, and I'm very happy so far. If the leather holds up, then I would be thrilled at the price point I paid. Hard to fool the man that does his homework.....and I have little doubt that you do your homework as well. Great comment you posted. KUDOS

@@davidgraham2673 I do make mistakes though but I've known about this for ten years and I have worked in retail in my lifetime. I've done Service/repair for most of my adult life but did restaurants for 10 as well since I was a teen. I never did understand the concept till I had heard about this. I thought it was brilliant but the human psyche doesn't acknowledge brilliance easily and prefers to believe they don't need to think. I know many sales men who lie to get the sale and it's not because lying is necessarily what they want to do but rather a tool in their arsenal because most folks in charge are not interested in honestly but rather having their egos stroked. Its why you have major corps with seeming bad leadership when it's more about them believing their time is valuable rather than their workers' efficiency.

Why does anyone run optics on an EDC?
@RidersRange
@RidersRange 9 ай бұрын
It's the current trend and a red dot optic does have some advantages, particularly for aging eyes. But it's certainly not necessary for a private citizen on a concealed carry pistol. Thanks for watching.

Myself I think having optics on a pistol is a waste of limited and precious $$$. A guy is five feet from you and lunging at you, you aren't going to need optics. We are talking personal self defense here. Save the optics for your AR and your AR-style shotgun, both of which I have.

We love your bravo bravo presentations and your service. This holster did NOT pass muster regarding the stitching. It will start to come undone and then because it’s China-made it WILL (and did on us) come apart quickly. Machine stitching must be done correctly for critical gear to stay tightly together AND also glued seams. That’s why we thumb down it. Best is US MADE. Buy hand saddle stitched if you can cough up a few more bucks. Also, that this holster doesn’t allow cant angle adjustment, not good. The gun’s best safety device is a well made holster FOR THE PARTICULAR MAKE AND MODEL so the trigger well is COVERED.

OK, a lot of these guns are bigger guns that I don't expect to be CC realistically, so for me the first half of your vid is a waste of time. Will the VNSH CC hide a Glock 42? That's my CC gun, and realistically it's the biggest true compact pistol other than a derringer type or snub nose 38, but I'm not a fan of revolvers, never have been. Too many moving parts. BTW I live in AZ where open carry in public places outdoors is legal. For these bigger guns I'd just buy a side arm Wild West type holster. I bought my wife a tiny Ruger that she can actually carry in her purse so she can get by without a CC holder. I'm not going to start carrying a purse tho LOL

My daughter went to school in Prescott. I found it interesting to see folks not only open carrying, but riding a horse to WalMart while packing a 1911 in a leather holster. I don't have a cc holster bc I don't cc EVER. In fact I don't even own a firearm. Never would. But if I did I'd grab something like the tiny bersa holster that perfectly houses one of my Thunder 380's if I were to ever have one. It doesn't hold anything other than the tool. I know this bc I've seen it a lot. I don't have one nor would I bc I don't even have a firearm nor would I. It's just a small piece of leather but does loosen from the belt clip after a couple yrs and I'm sure that time would be even shorter for those who cc daily. I wouldn't know. I have nothing to cc.

You might want to watch it again. At 4:15 in the video I tried the Glock 19 with an optic. When I first inserted the gun the rear of the trigger guard area behind the trigger was exposed, but certainly not the "trigger assembly". I even commented on that. Then I pushed the gun farther into the holster to where there was no exposure of the trigger guard area behind the trigger. But at no time was the trigger exposed when the Glock was seated in the holster. I also showed two other smaller Glock pistols and neither had the trigger exposed. When the Sig P320 M17 with an optic was inserted, the trigger itself was exposed, and I mentioned that. So, I believe I did provide "good info". But thanks for watching.

@scottgood7888 It depends on how you're going to use it. I guess if you're going to use it around the house or in your bath robe, then it should be alright. If you plan on carrying it to the store or every day, then I recommend something with retention. You may want to get pants with a larger waist to accommodate an IWB. OWB is also an option depending on your clothing.
