Werewolf Metal. I mean, how have I not heard of this before?! Powerwolf turns gothic-tinged compositions with werewolf and vampire legends into pure ear candy, and I am totally here for that! "Dancing With The Dead" is based off of the Sacred Ritual of Famadihana where one digs up a grave and dances with a corpse. How is that personified in the music video? I guess we'll find out!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Powerwolf for the very first time, performing "Dancing with the Dead”.

Listen to Sting: "Dancing with the dead" was a movement in south america. Where people where dancing in silence. No music, played. Pretending to hold somebody. While there was no 2nd person. Should be a real good one. Attila has some classical training, the gothic themes are right up your street and the music is just fun. Their live shows are great fun too, lots of crowd interaction and Falk Maria Schlegel the keyboardist and Attila play off each other really well. I'm a big powerwolf fan. Army of the Night and We drink your blood are their big songs and worth a look. Armata Stigoi and Venom of Venus are bangers. There's a cool version of Demons are a girls best friend with Alissa from Arch enemy that's pretty fun too.

Powerwolf is like the spooky creepy but fun halloween version of power metal, and I love them! Their singer has classical opera training if I remember correctly, and that sound combined with the organ sounds just transforms the sound into a perfect gothic blend of evil, mischief, and aggressiveness, while maintaining an air of class if that makes sense? Like most bands, they have singalong sections in some of their songs where they tell the audience what to sing. Watching Attila do this is hilarious because it comes off as nothing so much as an impromptu mass singing lesson (he insists the crowd be on key and not flat, and actually put some resonance into it.) Check out some of the live videos of Armata Strigoi for what this can look like.

They are amazing at writing in a way of lot of metal has lost, strong verse which sets a story, great hook, then big sing along chorus, an unbeatable formula. Doesn’t hurt that they have almost a mythology that runs through their music, and a little singing in Latin, giving it an extra dramatic element. His voice is instantly recognizable in today's Metal, and, along with their tastefully chosen "gimmick", goes a long way to manifesting the identity of POWERWOLF. Yes, they are always energetic, and yeah, they are always having some dark (sarcastic) fun. :] But take them easy at own peril - for you lose that soul before you know! \m/ 9:45 You ask what they do live? Well, they sound just as good... and they use flamethrowers on stage to prove the point! This band is the real deal as far as unbridled fun goes! For another of their wonderful videos that tell a story, try "Fire and Forgive" - deals, appropriately, with exorcism. Hmmm. Or rather just listen to their classic "Bible of the Beast" album, and tell us what you think. A veritable joyride for this listener.

If you like this level of dedication to the concept, there is a band called carach Angren that is pretty mind blowing, I would recommend checking out a song of theirs called “funerary dirge of a violinist”. As far as powerwolf, it’s so hard to recommend just one song to anyone cause almost everything they do is at the same amazing level of awesome, energetic, and catchy. Maybe something off of blood of the saints, it almost feels like it is a best of album from a band with no misses

Powerwolf are amazing!! Glad you enjoyed them! I wanna make a recommendation, I am 100% certain you would love Poets of the Fall. They have a great vibe, and the singer Marko has a warm, soothing voice. Their biggest song is Carnival of Rust (there's a live performance in Moscow that's good, and a live studio session at genelec which sounds great as well). Or another interesting and beautiful performance is Angel from the Alexander Theater sessions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Some 4 years ago I was at festival and Powerwolf was one of those to-be-checked-if-possible bands, had heard few songs from em. Was chilling/cooling down from last gig nearby as they started playing at tent stage, in one of their first songs was heard by ear, wait is this a Marilyn Monroe cover? Started listening more closely, didn't catch the tone and lyrics were bit off... On second verse got it, it is Demons Are A Girl's Best Friend, not Diamonds. Made sense.

The young girl is the woman at a younger age and as you can see from the doll that turns into a kind of Chucky doll, she has had a connection to the dead/demons/whatever from a young age - and now is the time to fulfill/embrace that connection. That's my take, anyway.

Powerwolf is the most sing-a-long metalband that's touring the festivals. First time I saw them, I had never heard anything of them, but I was still singing along with songs I didn't know. They have a lot of songs with catchy refrains that repeat often and so it's easy to participate. Downside (for me) is that listening at home I quickly grow bored by their songs.

Looking forward to this, Attila is amazing. Great control and presence. Powerwolf absolutely nails the combination great songs and talent with an element of tongue in cheek that works so well. There are so many great Bands. Powerwolf is one of the best artistically Rock Groups, but we never should forget MSG (Michael Schenker, Gary Barden, Cozy Powell, Paul Reymond Chris Clen), Heavens Gate (Tough the Light, Gate of Heaven), Axxis, Gamma Ray (Heading for Tomorrow), Virgine Steele (Burning of Rome, Symphony of Steele), Accept (first Line Up) Breaker, Motörhead (Don’t believe a Word), Whitesnake (Come an’ get it), Gary Moore (Over the Hills and far away), Blind Guardian (Majesty), Rhapsody of Fire (Legendary Tales, Dawn of Victory, Manowar, Rory Gallagher (Philby), Meat Loaf, Royal Hunt (Heart on a Platter) etc. I think I forgot a lot of great Bands. I enjoy the fantastic review from Elizabeth. It’s fascinating to lister her professional comments. I would be really glad if you could check some of these Groups and Songs.
