Just one of those singers who is lost without auto-tune. Other than in a 'clinical', 'enhanced' environment, he can't sing.

@@AttackOfTheBees I respectfully disagree with you on this one: Live, he always sings off-key, wavering badly. And he somehow always manages to pick the wrong register to sing in (to high for him!). This guy has to rethink his whole perception of his own voice and needs many, many hours of vocal lessons in a, way, lower key where he'd have more control and and be able to project, less strained and with more volume. But I am really glad that you like him, just the way he is. He sure could use some forgiving fans right now.

@@sebastian0107I can see from the number of comments you've left that you're pretty wedded to that POV, but I'm not sure how your opinion of him completely retraining his voice really makes sense when he's made a rather successful career out how he sings now, inconsistency and all - which isn't the same as liking him just the way he is by the way, which was not said.

Well, not anymore. I predicted exactly this outcome in my comments 3 months ago: Olly can't sing Live other than flat, wavery and Off-Key, without his studio 'enhancements', pitching and auto-tune. No Vocal-Technique what-so-ever, that's called. He has to re-invent his singing from scratch, in a 3 to 5 tones lower key. That's all there is to evaluate, really.

@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach I'm sure I'm not alone in saying we'd love to hear your take on his performance from the live show - the general consensus seems to be that the rather intense choreography took more of his effort/attention and his vocals suffered as a result. Plus he seemed to be totally lost in the sound mix (intentionally?), which sucks because when he can focus on 'just' singing he's fantastic :(

@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach That is because he has a normal baritone and tries to sing like a choirboy in an unnatural register that doesn't suit him; 3 to 5 tones to high. It's not sustainable. Live, he always sang badly off-key; nothing new. Besides; he has a very weak falsetto. Falsetto is not for everybody, I always say. He is just another victim of Auto-Tune.

@@quintecence I beg to differ; it was just as bad, if not worse, when he came out of that cubicle he was literally gasping for air, unable to meet the notes. At both performances, on the final high notes, he got saved by his backing track. It was just awful.

I'm glad you decided to review this performance and not the live one, where Olly's voice sounded out of tune and his singing was totally overpowered by...hmm...the dancers. I only liked the end high notes in that performance. But here, he's singing well and I can see people dancing to this song in clubs.

At the end, he was saved by his backing vocalist: Joell Fender. Possibly the backing was pre-recorded. Olly himself was totally out of breath by then.

This IS the version he attempted vocalizing on the night. Only the ending was reworked (the part where he got saved by his backing vocalist). The staging was a necessary diversion from his challenged vocals.

Hmmm interesting review. I tend to agree however, the problem with Olly has been always one. Technically he's a very good singer but fails to engage with the audience. Personally, I think it's kind of weird because he sings well but I can't stand listen to him for long? It's hard to explain but it is what it is. No points from the audience in Eurovision 2024. Harsh? Yes but Fair? Yes again I am afraid🤷

@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach The Studio and VEVO-versions are engineered: 'enhanced', pitched, lots of compression and whatnot. Not exactly the same as auto-tune, there your right. But Live, he could never sing like that. Only in a clinical, enclosed environment is he (somewhat) able to replicate this song in this key. And then it still sounds like he has use the bathroom very badly ...
