You guys have stumbled upon a man who is greater than a legend, greater than an icon, he is the soul of my people. Hated on early on for his flamboyant ways, he turned a nation filled with machismo and arrogance to view him in a completely different way. Breaking walls and barriers, he tapped into Mexico soul with heartfelt lyrics and profound voice. This song was a dedication of eternal love to a mother who never accepted him and shunned him as a child. His heart so pure wanted nothing more than acceptance. If only he knew the amount of happiness and joy he brought “a Pueblo”, we are eternally grateful and beyond proud to say he is a Mexican a Idol.

From 4:39 to about 5:50 in his video it’s Juan Gabriel COMPLETELY improvising those lyrics! Those are not in the original song, which again is proof of him being one of the greatest performers, lyricist and singers of ALL TIME and not just of Mexico! There isn’t a Mexican in this world that doesn’t k ow and at least love one of his thousands of songs! So heartfelt and deep…words that hit our very core! He is One of the Threads woven deep into Mexico’s soul! 💗

Actually the moment he continued singing after letting the audience since for him, he started improvising. He was no longer since the original lyrics. He is a master lyricist and the can improvise on the spot in a big show like that live. He was an amazing performer with natural stage presence.

Yo recomendaría que antes de escuchar una canción así buscaran la traducción de la letra, ya que de ese modo entenderían muchísimo el lenguaje corporal de este video y el porque mira todo el tiempo hacia el "cielo". Juan Gabriel is one of the best voices and writers in Mexican history. His story is quite tragic though since his best works (including this one) were the results of sad moments in his life. Therefore, his producers were known to influence tragedies in his life so he could continue writing epic songs. @Justin Burke, you were spot on that this was a love song. But, it's about a love one that hasmpassed away. What's most notable is that the audience is captivated in complete silence, most likely in remembrance of those that have passed on. Mexican's love Karaoke and the fact that you couldn't hear a single soul singing along is reflection of Juan Gabriels masterful performance.

"Juan Gabriel", is Definately in a class of "All time Best in Music", in terms of performances, iconic and influential performers, along with the likes of "Elvis" only, different genre. Whats more, a step above in talent, because "Juan Gabriel" wrote and composed nearly all, if not, all of his music. And let me tell you, not just any music, intended on being of "B Side" quality. He had so so many hits throughout his career, that he had plenty more, to Boost other performers to the moon. TRULY a gift to the world in so many ways. A shame, only The Latin world knows of him.

I've seen him in person and this man would give it his all in every song and every concert. So this song was actually written to his mother that passed away. and he would sing this song towards the end of the concert and was raspy and also here he had done tons of concerts. he started when he was in his 20's and here he's in his like 40's. Dude is badass! Juan Gabriel the greatest Spanish songwriter, composer and vocalist the world has ever known. That's a bold statement, but it's hard to find anyone who wrote so many songs for other artists as well, and had his songs re-done by so many artists. And had one of the most amazing voices of all time. May he rest in peace! Sad he passed. BTW his concerts lasted an average of 3 hours! I was witness to 2 of them in California, just unbelievable! Tell me how many artist today give concerts beyond even 90 minutes! He was on another level that will be hard to top. RIP Juan Gabriel.

When his mother passed and wrote this song he didn't have the will to perform this song so he passed it on to Rocio Durcal who origianlly started performing it, it wasn't until later he started finally to perform it. You guys should do a react on her version its as passionate. Her version is the one usually played at funerals as a Mexican tradition.
