The sadness and fragility within the human condition written so brilliantly in the lyrics by Bowie are brought to the forefront in Aurora's version. Breaks my heart every time in the best way possible.

I love watching vocal coaches react to Aurora, because you can see them at first thinking they are gonna teach us something, but instead you see them learning things they didn't know, and didn't expect. Humbling hm?

Please react to AURORA's album: "Infections of a different kind" and "a different kind of human" (2-staged album) I absolutely love it and I'm sure you will. There are no fillers. Every song is unique in its own way and has so many different elements to unpack which I think you will shine at.

I strongly recommend her insanely incredible NPR Tiny Desk studio performance (in some library) where she does 3 if her early songs... she's about 19 or so at the time of the performance and it's really a showcase of her vocal talent (her and her old acoustic guitarist/backing vocals)

Well done. I would add my voice to those requesting you react to Aurora's prodigious body of original work. She lives in her own world musically and repeatedly says in interviews that she doesn't really listen to a lot of other people's work. She does covers well (check out her Massive Attack and Beatles covers on Triple J). And if you want to see Aurora's power vocals then the Seed or Queendom would be something to assess.

I'm so glad you're covering Aurora. Would love to hear your opinion on her original content. ESPECIALLY Infections of a Different Kind (Step I) and Different Kind Of Human (Step II). Some of the most ambitious and crowd pleasing alt-pop since Lorde. They're the total package; incredible vocals to dissect and production that you'll get lost in. Step I is a quick listen too. Every song on it is perfect IMO.

Try Nat Cole's Nature Boy next. She's got an ability to interpret a song that I haven't heard in a long time. I read an interview she did quite sometime ago where she stated that she really didn't know what she was doing that she was self taught. It would have been around the time of this performance. She still says that she never had being an artist as an ambition, she kind of got discovered by accident. To quote Bob Ross Happy Accidents. I don't know if there's something in the water in Bergen Norway but the amount of quality talent coming out of that city is unreal.

As I watch all these reaction videos of vocal coaches, more and more I notice their shock, but I feel like they shouldn't be shocked. Singing used to mean something back in Bowie's and Lennon's times, and it was about conveying a meaning and a story... It was about singing your heart out and making each song your own and then sing almost as if your not singing at all, you're talking with a bit of flourishes, but it's like your singing voice is your way of talking naturally, and you're talking to me (the listener of your story)... So it's not about deciding beforehand to do these technical flourishes, it's about practicing a couple of times, completely owning the story behind each line, and then delivering it any natural way it comes out... It's not a outside/in approach, it's the other way around. Thankfully you didn't have this problem as much as your colleagues, and maybe that's why I felt like I can say it to you ... Aurora's doing it normally, it's all those other artists of today that are just singing some words and don't really mean their every word... Whereas it's their job to be imaginative, and paint the picture both in their own mind and in ours ... We should be shocked at ourselves for taking things for granted and forgetting along the way...

She is the most exquisite storyteller. Every song of hers draws us completely into it. When the song it through, we have been on a journey and almost have to shake ourselves back to the present. She did another stunning...and somewhat different rendition of Life on Mars at her exquisite Nidarosdomen performance. It was the closing number and had the audience quiet for a good long stretch after the last note as they savored the journey they had just been on. In that performance, you will hear a lot more power in her voice. If you want to hear it for yourself, I would recommend the video that contains the entire concert. The other video, that picked out just that song, has the subtitles in Portuguese instead of English. She does introduce the song. On the full performance video, it begins at 52:23. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jom5qHmsoLOHe8k

And if you really want a challenge as a vocal coach you have to react to Angelina Jordan. She is a camelon, cover stars as Billie Holiday, Adele, Ariana Grande, John Legend, Queen, Elton John .........often better than the original. She is only 14 years old, she won Norway got talent in 2014 then she turned 8 years old through the competition. She has listen to jazz from she was a baby.

Aurora grew up listening to David Bowie & Leonard Cohen so their music means a lot to her. I have some more Aurora suggestions: Warrior - Live at Past Studios 15/25/18. Animal Soul for P3 Live. Forgotten Love, I like the version on O Globo Newspaper's channel. There is a short bit of talking at the beginning of the video & then at the end theres an interview which is worth watching but you don't have to react to that part if you don't want to. All Is Soft Inside - Verftet Online Music Festival. This performance is from a livestream that happened on 29.03.20 with no audience in attendance due to the Pandemic. (It's the video on Kenzo channel) "Little Boy In the Grass" & "Lucky" - Live in Nidarosdomen About the songs: "Little Boy In the Grass" is for the victims of the Utøya massacre that happened in Norway on 07.22.2011 & for someone who was important to Aurora who died. She would have been 15 at the time the same age as the some of the people who were killed. "Lucky" Aurora wrote it when she was 9 & she says "It's about realizing that you've been through dark tunnels in life, but still walking forward, both feet strong. We are all lucky to be alive, it's an important thing to remember". About the location: Nidarosdomen (Nidaros Cathedral) is a 10th century cathedral of the Church of Norway located in the city of Trondheim. It was built over a 230 year period, from 1070 to 1300. You want the video on Marcin Wieczorkowski channel called: Aurora Live in Nidarosdomen (Timestamps are in the description). Some more covers she's done: Across the Universe (The Beatles) (Live for Like a Version) Teardrop (Massive Attack) (Live for Like a Version).

When you react to this one, it's important to know that this is a show where the artist don't know what song they will cover. They get 1 hour to make their song before preforming. So even if this is an amazing version. It should be in your mind that they didn't have time to really dive deep into what they want to do with the song. This is more an "first instinct" "God is a woman" was the same
