Honestly, I'm really glad she did the belt just to make everyone shut the eff up about how she can't sing. She can and always has. I knew that ages ago with all her other live performances. It's a choice! Just because you can hit whistle registers and high notes, doesn't mean that you have to or should. Leave that to Mariah, Adele, and Ariana. Billie is on a whole other plane with her lyrics, composition and the way she emotes when she sings. All that other "stuff" sometimes takes away from the emotion we experience. I've seen her once live and cannot wait to see her again this March.

I wouldn't say that but I get what she wants to say. Rather, I'd say that that she sometimes sings deep vocal frys very lightly that sound almost like a distorded vibrato. Sometimes they do that in a mix as a vocal effect like in Bad guy when she goes, I'm a *baaaaaad guy*. Maybe that's what she wanted to say with the vintage vibe
