Yes, Joy explained that “2 weeks before our comeback I had problems with my vocal chords. It sounded like my voice was cracking. The last clip was Taeyeon's best n worst, the worst example was from a performance where her in ear wasn't working n she couldn't hear the music. That night she had other tech issues n was very upset. I was amazed she did as well as she did under those circumstances. I love how you notice when they are tired or possibly sick or just having a bad day and you are always positive with your critiques. I sing in a Contemporary Christian Praise Band in my church. Although none of our vocalists are professionals I am aware I am the weakest singer. After watching your videos you have me the confidence to reach out n look for voice lessons. I know confidence is my biggest flaw. I really want to get better. Wish me luck. 💜

Joy's clip breaks my heart because she was ill at the time and was so hard on herself afterwards (and actually lost her confidence in singing). I know this video is old but sometimes the vowel they sing is is not coincidentally just a sound to be a sound. Sometimes it's the start or the end of a sentence so they have no choice but sing in that vowel. Korean language is different from english. If they change one vowel it can be a totally different word. The up "uh" you mentioned is actually "eo" "어"

It's too often they lip sync. Even if it appears they are, it's because they put a louder track over it but as you can see in the Mr removed videos, they are still actually singing.

Every korean artist (beside YG artists) have lipsinced in their career. Mostly they have a playback but do sing. Some have the playback louder some more quiet. For example NCT lipsinc often because of their hard coreography. Some I don't know why. But I think it's okay.
