Hi! Before you rip me apart please read this. If your comment isn't addressed I'd love to hear it. 1. I know Hong Kong and South Korea are different places. I lived in Hong Kong for 18 months. What I was so poorly trying to refer to in the video was how I worked with a lot of clients on KPOP. I misspoke. 2. Compressors and auto-tune are completely different things. I was not talking about auto-tune, I was talking about compressors. Compressors are often used in live and studio environments. They are not a bad thing, they are a good thing. I thought that singer was fine in both clips. 3. I don't know everything, but I have spent an enormous amount of time learning what I know. I am actually a professional voice teacher. My students make progress every lesson. I'm not perfect but I'm always trying to learn. Thank you for watching!

It's this reason why so many artists can't actually grow. Their fans are limiting them. It's not just "haters" who have bad experiences with fans that have taken things way too far. So many artists have been attacked by their own fan base because they changed from the person they expected them to be. True artists have multiple phases of their careers.

I think a big part of the problem is they don't teach proper vocal technique when they train idols. With good technique they won't have to switch during notes or strain, etc. But they just teach them how to reach notes by any means necessary. Better technique will make your voice last longer as well.
@winwinzolution5 жыл бұрын
That and also the fact that most kpop songs just HAD to have super high notes doesn't help as well. You can train all you want but some notes are just beyond reach esp for boys. And the fact that most kpop fans think that wide range = good vocalist is also not helping at all. Why showing off high notes when you can't reach it correctly.
@Emilia0895 жыл бұрын

Even though I’m a huge army and have lived bts from almost at debut, jimin grew up around hiphop and he does feel insecure about his vocals (like in burn the stage) and I understand your criticism and I say well done to you because considering some people being touchy about this, you were honest and I like that. Imma subscribe. I also understand the vocal stuff because since I’m going into a career that requires a lot of singing, i had to get a vocal coach and I love their constructive criticism because I learn. Some people just need to understand that criticism doesn’t mean to hurt someone, but to show them ways to improve.

i agree. im a huge army and jimin is my UB but sometimes his voice is not at its best, and he even said during burn the stage how he works with a vocal coach and does his best to improve. these days i believe he's much better. the Fire and BST performances were from a while ago, so an up to date stage would be nice to review. i think it'd be cool to see an analysis of his vocals after the next sold out world tour or the stages on music banks during promotions for Answer next week :)

YerinDubs I am not sure who you are asking about but I will tell of both. Chen's voice didn't actually crack it was a technical issue bcz his voice sounds completely normal in fancams. For Baekhyun he just likes to play around with his voice so much so he does crazy things and it does affect him but he tries not to let it get to him even if his voice cracked sometimes. He goes for it anyways and mostly he nails it.

Theres nothing to be ashamed about.
@sunnysmiledaisy31846 жыл бұрын
I totally agree! When he pointed out how fearful Jimin was I was like: yep you are exactly right! Jimin was so insecure about his voice and that has been his problem not if he can sing or not! If you have noticed, recently Jimin has become a stronger vocalist and I know it's because he has become more and more confident in his voice! He is not 100% confident but he is almost there and that is awesome! I admire Jimin, because he has shown a lot of courage in this area and to work out his insecurities in front of the whole world is even more amazing!

We all know the vocalists in bts have ASKED so many times to get better vocal coaching and that bh has just said no, that their struggle sounds better. it’s really sad because them straining and struggling is going to hurt them all in the long run
@breanaok85386 жыл бұрын
kmtae not trying to be rude, but where are you getting your info? They were never denied skilled vocal coaches. How do you think Jungkook learned how to add emotion, how V learned more vocal sounds, how Jin became so stable and can consistently hit high notes. For Jimin, he’s made amazing improvements. From their Burn the Stage series, they talk about Jimin wanting more time to practice with the vocal coach...but, his vocal chords are, he’s prone to vocal strain and losing his voice if he overuses it. That’s why they have to be strategic with his practice time.
@kmbkgs6 жыл бұрын
Breana OK they probably had that before and were taught that before. but during the fake love comeback jimin and seokjin both said bang pd said no to getting a vocal coach because their high note sounded better when he strained. twitter.com/angelvocalksj/status/1003697649239724034?s=21 edit: i forgot to add. i am not saying their vocals are bad, none of them are in my opinion but then again i’m not a professional. i think their voices are very pretty and impact me emotionally. all i’m saying is that the constant strain they put on their voices can hurt them
@sunnysmiledaisy31846 жыл бұрын
@@kmbkgs What you said was Jins words taken out of context , so please try again! In truth we do not know how much vocal training they could afford in the past or that they've actually had, but I can remember Jimin saying during one of his earlier vlogs that he had voice lessons! BTS is Big Hits cash cow and has been for years now so I don't think they would even think about ruining their meal tickets vocals! Jin talked about one song that was difficult for him to sing, because of how high the octave was and he was encouraged to push through to deliver the great results that he did! Pushing one's self vocally will not damage the cords if done correctly!

Jimin has a lovely voice but sadly, due to his training and the groups focus on hip-hop, his voice never got the correct training, therefore his vocal technique can tend to be very bad e.g. you can hear how much strain there is in his high notes, even to this day. It upsets me that he didn't have the time to train and sort his voice out; it can be really damaging to hurt it like that, but he has honestly improved so much.
@homebody49726 жыл бұрын
Jenamy also not to mention the amount of doubt and lack of confidence he has. I really wish he would understand that he really does have an amazing voice.

Sugas Toothbrush I think his insecurities also stop him from trying to improve sadly. Yes, there has been major improvement since debut, but the last year or so, there hasn't been much (except the how he has become slightly more stable with his falsetto and head voice) and honestly worries me. Yes, it could just be the fact that he's tired, but I genuinely believe that it is also because of insecurity/ lack of confidence. I also think BigHit should ok invest in getting the boys better vocal and voice coaches with all the money they're taking in, by the looks of it, they only use it to make the music videos fancier. With better teachers, the vocal line could really go far and just been under that of maybe EXO, Nuest, NCT and Seventeen (hoarders of this generations best male vocalists, in my opinion) in terms of technique.

@homebody49726 жыл бұрын
Jenamy Honestly I agree that his insecurities are one of the reasons he doesn’t improve as much, he’s scared to take chances and not only does that worry me on a musical level but on a just down to earth level. Nobody should have insecurities holding them back from doing something they love. Also yeah maybe better vocal coaches could be of some use but they’ve been a family for so long I think it’d be hard to find someone new for them, plus it’s more so that with they’re successes comes busy schedules that may intervene with when they want to practice. As for some of the best vocalist I do think Chen is flippin amazing and NCT in general has a great vocal line, but I really enjoy Infinite’s vocal line too from stability to harmonization.

Chanel A But it isn’t negative or being hateful to say XX did a bad job or XX is a bad singer if it’s true. But of course if a stan sees that they’ll immediately get mad. Even if I like BTS for example, there are surprisingly lots of times when I watch lives and can’t help but cringe because they (or one of them) just doesn’t sound good or they hit a note that is just bad. For people who care about the sound it can detract from the performance as well. I don’t think it’s hateful to be honest about that.

damaging is the key. its happened to a lot of people already....but keep defending..you're just hurting these artist you love. even adele had to take a massive long break because she messed up her vocals chords cause bad technique.

Lol I’m a huge BTS stan but this man is telling the truth about Jimin. BTS doesn’t have the best vocals. They still have a lot of work to do on their voices. Now, they’re all great singers, but they have their moments when their voices don’t do very well. Jimins voice is very delicate and light, and sometimes when he’s dancing so much and he’s so insecure about his voice, it tends to crack or come out pitchy. And the “Best” one for Jimin I’m BST definitely wasn’t 100% natural. Sorry, but it’s the truth.

Keep being honest. Don't be afraid of the attack because you didn't say bad things just some truth and correction. That's how I learn from the video tbh

i usually hate watching videos like this because it’s typically kboos pretending to be an expert on smth that they’re just spectators on- it being snobby about it- you’re so pure and talented and intelligent. I love how you approach your videos :)

Let’s be honest, BTS does not have the best vocal line ever. BTS is my ultimate k-pop group, but y’know. Nothing against Jimin, Jin, taehyung or Jungkook, I love them all to death, but they definitely have room for improvement. Again, I’ve been army for 2 years now, and I love BTS so so so so much, but they can work or practice a bit more. Also, I don’t think that’s BS&T was a good example. It’s very difficult to do live and let’s be honest, it’s one of the few songs that uses a bit of auto tune so naturally, it’s gonna sound different.

I hope they get a chance to work with experienced vocal coaches who can help them with breathing techniques and how to keep as relaxed as possible while singing. Honestly I see the issue of straining in a lot of kpop vocalists and it breaks my heart, especially when you can tell they have natural talent that just hasn’t been properly and healthily explored.

Wow, I learned so much thanks to your video! I thought singing was just about having a nice voice ans that's it. Now I realise how much hardwork artists have to go through and also how technical singing is.
