Her growl is not that bad at all. So I now know, that you can do it, too. :-D Her nasal quality is one of 3 singers I am aware of doing something similar like this, i.e. Amy, Cher, Diana Ankudinova lately. But in opposite to the others, she does not do it for this dark quality that Cher and Diana A. achieve with it. Actually, I like Amy's variant best and Diana's least because I feel her technique sounds not consistant, more like a distinct resonance at a fix frequency like a distorting/overdriven EQ ... :-) Thanks for choosing this one, I did not know that Amy could growl at all, interesting!

I agree!! And this is one of the best performances! It was evanescence and Amy Lee that was my love from like 2001 until I discovered floor in 08. But Amy was still kind of my favorite until about 2010 ish. Still love her. And among the top. She's still my love lol. Just the discovery of Floor made her my fav singer. Bring me to life and haunted were a couple top faves. Though I loved just about it all. Though as I got a little older everybody's fool really hit it as a top. Amy said it was about the pressure to use sex to sell music. But the lyrics and video take it above and beyond. It just seems like society, the way people treat one another, struggling to love yourself or feel accepted.

I'm glad you're also a fan. Like you, my last girlfriend LOVED Evanescence and especially Amy Lee. She had an amazing singing voice, maybe not on par with Amy's or yours, but she won singing contests and put on shows for women (and families) in shelters. Her 3 go to songs were Bring Me To Life, My Immortal, and Zombie by The Cranberries. Sadly, she passed away in January 2019 from a seizure in her sleep. She was only 35. It's sometimes hard for me to hear those three songs, but I try to think of her lovely Joie de Vivre, her angelic voice, and her gorgeous beauty when I hear them. I miss her every day, but it is oddly comforting to know that the joy she experienced from Amy is shared by others. Thank you for this reaction. Sometimes people reacting to singers, bands, and songs is how other people find out about them. The more who know Amy the better. Be Blessed.

Great reaction! It's too bad that hard rock is hardly recognized now on the music charts. But I see a resurgence of punk-pop with artists who have branched out to experimenting with punk-pop like MGK, MOD SUN and the reemergence of Avril Lavigne this year delving back to her punk-pop roots.. So I think 2021 will mark the return of rock and roll being reinvented for a new generation of fans.

One of my most favorite bands when I was a teenager. Was I edgy? Fuq yes, I was. Is Evanescence edgy? FUQ YES, IT IS! SO?! The world ain't an all shiny bright, only on the surface. It is a fragile bubble that can break and pop any moment, every moment. It takes only a little thing to create a domino effects that make your world crumble down to ashes and ruins. We are living in a Matrix, where noone wants to see negativity and everyone keeps fake smiling pretending everything is just fine. If you are not smiling, if you are not optimistic, you are "disturbed" and "different", your whole image gets distrorted, suddenly becoming an outsider. We do not see what is going on behind the masquerade, not in other persons, not in the world beyond our horizon, until we are shown, we are told, or we witness for ourselves . It is music like this, bands like Evanescence, singers and composers like Amy Lee, who show what life is made of, not only happiness and sunlight. It is also pain, it is sadness, anger, wrath, hate and fears. It is confusion and helplnesses, betrayal and darkness. This music is therapeutic, it makes one feel understood, makes one feel like not being the only one in pain. That is why it draws us in, because it appells to our true feelings behind the masquerade and tells us it is okay to feel like that. Amy Lee and Evanescence guided me through 5 terrible hard years and I am very thankful for that.

I liked Evanescence's music in general, technically, they were pretty decent, though hardly cutting-edge stuff. But when you add Amy Lee's voice into the mix, THAT is what lifted them above the common-or-garden average. She is a Siren. listening to her sing is like sitting by a campfire at night & hearing the bagpipes further down the glen. Every hair stands straight up, Blood runs cold, You can float away into the fae-world to that stuff. Her voice could lure ancient Greek sailors onto the rocks.
