King Diamond first released the Fatal Portrait album in 1986.... when I was eight years old. At 67 years old he still has his full vocal range even after having his chest cracked open to have an open heart triple bypass. Andy LaRocque is the "old looking" guitarist has always been one of my favorites. The other band members have come and gone over the decades but King and Andy have been there the whole time. LONG LIVE THE KING!

I saw KD in 2019 in Philly. Hard to believe but he sounds even better live. Before his solo projects he sang for Merciful Fate. Still does occasionally. I think he turns 68 this year. And yeah, this isn't by far the best showcase of his talent, but it is fun

Kim has have been singing in his 2 bands, "King Diamond" snd Merciful Faith sinse they early 80's. Merciful Faith is 1st gen Black Metal and King Diamond is more Gothic Doom metal. The biggest difference between the bands though is that King Diamond is a Concept Band, andcevery Album is a Concept album/story, often having albums that are continuations of the same story as well.

I love seeing someone hearing King for the first time. been listening to him since 1985. im sure you know by now he was also in Mercyful Fate. check out the song "A Visit from the Dead" think its on the album Conspiracy. great example of his range in that song
@michaelbean10510 ай бұрын
King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, all his albums are incredible! Ghost stories, historical religious zealotry, black magic, he touches on the dark nature of the human experience in a metal opera presentation. If you're really interested in random mind blowers, check out Fates Warning, Awaken the Guardian... They're a massively underrated old-school metal band that did some incredible work. 🤟😎

My first time seeing your reactions, and you have a really wonderful relaxed manner about you that is informative, your pauses are appropriate when you are feeling something it is pertinent to the placement in the song. And clearly you know your way around vocal stylings and technique. It's always great to see someone be exposed to the king for the first time, he is at 70 years old now, still out there and still making amazing independent music.

Great video! Hearing you mimicking his voice was fantastic. As a prior singer in a metal band, I really appreciate what you do. IMO King Diamond was one of the greatest metal singers of time. I'm going to see him live on October 26th, 2024 in St Petersburg, FL. As some others have said, listen to some of his studio recordings like "Fatal Portrait" or "Abigail". Also his Mercyful Fate days recording "Melissa". His wife has been singing backup to King since 2003. Livia is a voiceover actress and rock singer. She is quite talented as well.

It is a real shame that you stopped reacting to Diana Ankudinova. The reactions you made to her performances of Rechenka, when she was 14, and of Wicked Game and Human, when she was 15 are extremely interesting and insightful with respect both to her vocal technique and to the aesthetic effect of her use of it. How fascinating it would be to hear your thoughts on her subsequently cultivated and elite trained "mature" voice - at the ripe old age of 18(!) - as manifest e.g. in her utterly extraordinary masterpiece "Can't Help Falling in Love," as performed in the first episode of the 2021 TV contest "ShowMaskGoOn" for professional singers. The video of the performance is on her channel. Do please react to it! 🙂
